Chapter 04

Anthony suddenly ran over and hugged Althon very tightly. The old man burst into tears. He seemed to gain strength after hearing that Alan had found his long-lost grandson.

Anthony cried when he saw Althon for the first time. He had been looking for his grandson for years. His hopes were dwindling as his condition worsened. However, his prayers to meet Althon were finally answered.

"Althon, I'm so happy you're back. My wish has finally come true."

"Grandpa?" Althon called out in a small voice. He was still confused, but he returned Anthony's hug. "Grandpa."

Anthony released the hug, looked at Althon closely, and stroked his grandson's cheek many times. "You look a lot like your father, Althon."

"W-was I your grandson?" Althon turned to Alan and the bodyguards who were still bowing. "I-I... I'm ...."

"You are indeed my grandson. You inherited your father's physique, but you have your mother's eyes." Anthony took Althon's hand. "I will show you many things."

Althon was stunned when he saw what was inside the mansion. His eyes were wide with his mouth open. "This house is really like a palace. Every corner is perfect."

Anthony smiled, tugging slightly on Althon's hand. "Follow me, Althon."

Althon and Anthony climbed the stairs, walking down a hallway filled with paintings, cabinets, jars, and other luxurious objects.

Althon walked as carefully as he could so as not to touch anything. He was afraid that he would have to compensate.

Althon saw Anthony stop in front of a large photograph. "Grandpa?"

Althon froze when he saw a man and a woman holding a baby boy in a picture. His eyes suddenly glazed over, scrutinizing each figure in the picture. "Are they... my parents, Grandpa?"

Althon stroked the photo of the baby boy, trying to hold back tears. The baby looked so much like him as a baby.

"They are your parents, Althon. That man is my son, Arthur Leander. And that woman is my daughter-in-law, Adele Leander. And that baby is you, Althon." Anthony wiped away the tears. "If your parents were here, they would be delighted."

"Where are my mom and dad now, Grandpa?" Althon accidentally nudged a vase until it fell and shattered. He was shocked and immediately crouched down to pick up the broken pieces.

"You don't have to, Althon." Anthony held back Althon's hand.

"I'm sorry that I smashed that vase, Grandpa. I'll pay compensation, but I can't pay it now."

Anthony laughed quite loudly. "You don't have to pay for the vase, Althon. You are the owner of this mansion."

Althon pointed at himself. "I own this mansion?"

"Not just this mansion and the things in it, but you are the owner of all your father's companies that are spread across the country and abroad."

"That's impossible." Althon looked at his family photo, shocked. How could a poor man like him suddenly become a wealthy man overnight?

"This is no longer a possibility, but a reality. You are the main heir of the Leander family. You are one of the richest men in the country."

Althon massaged his throbbing head. "My head is very dizzy right now."

"You look exhausted. You should rest, Althon. I'll explain everything to you after breakfast."

Althon entered a very spacious room with well-organized decorations. He was still afraid to touch things in this mansion. "This room is amazing."

Althon was in the center of the room, observing the surroundings. He slapped his cheeks very hard, smiling. "None of this is a dream."

Althon threw himself onto the bed. "Tonight was crazy. I thought I was going to end up in prison for a few years. Instead, I ended up in a luxurious palace, and I found out that I was the heir to a wealthy family. I'm even richer than Alvin?"

Althon sat up. "Yes, I'm richer than Alvin. I can certainly repay him for what he did to me all these years."

Althon lay down on the bed and fell asleep.

The next morning, Althon had breakfast with Anthony. He was surprised to see many delicious dishes on the table.

"Althon, what are you waiting for? You've to eat to replenish your energy. After breakfast, we'll talk for a while." Anthony placed a piece of meat on Althon's plate. "You will like it."

"Thank you, Grandpa." Althon stared at the delicious meat on his plate. "Do I have to pay for all this food?"

Anthony laughed. "You still seem to think this is all a dream, Althon."

Althon savored the meal with gusto. He had forgotten the last time he had such a delicious meal.

Althon and Anthony entered a room after breakfast. Althon was still marveling at the beauty and luxury of the mansion.

Anthony took a deep breath and sat down opposite Althon. "Are you ready to hear everything, Althon?"

Althon clenched his fists tightly. "I'm ready, Grandpa."

"Before I explain about the Leander family, I want to hear your life story," Anthony said, clutching his chest.

"I grew up in an orphanage until I was fifteen years old. Life was difficult for me and the other children in the orphanage. Some of my friends were adopted by families. I was almost adopted by a man, but he was suddenly arrested by the police. I ended up going back to the  orphanage."

Althon looked down, pausing for a moment. "After I left the orphanage, I lived independently. I got a scholarship at an elite school. I got a scholarship to go to Harolda University. However, my scholarship was suddenly revoked for no apparent reason. I decided to work until I finally met Alan and was near you now, Grandpa"

Anthony held Althon's hand. "You must have had a very hard life, Althon. I promise you will never be lonely and miserable again. I promise."

"Thank you, Grandpa." Althon smiled.

Anthony closed his eyes tightly before telling him, "I will first explain about the Leander family. Our family is the wealthiest in Thondonia. Our family owns many companies engaged in various fields of business in the country and abroad. We have been at the very top of the upper-class families for decades."

Althon listened intently. All of this still seemed like a dream to him.

Anthony looked down for a moment. "I have four sons, and Arthur is my second. Arthur is a genius man. His intelligence has been apparent since he was a little boy. I am very proud of him. However, his three brothers became jealous of him, especially since I favored Arthur too much."

"My other three sons, Arnold, Aaron, and Andy slandered Arthur for embezzling the company's money, causing the family's companies to lose money. I didn't believe it, but Arnold, Aaron, and Andy provided evidence that made me believe it."

"I was so disappointed that I kicked Arthur out. I didn't want to see him or talk to him for months. I wasn't even present when you were born into the world, Althon." Anthony closed his eyes, feeling very angry and disappointed with himself.

"Grandpa," Althon muttered.
