Alex rummaged through her phone and dialed Peter's phone. She panicked as he picked “Sir, Kayla slumped at work, and we are at the hospital." She panicked. “What hospital?” Peter asked.“Landmark Specialist Hospital," She said over the phone.“Okay, stay calm. I will be with you shortly." Peter said that and dropped the call. This was his fiancée; she was as important to him as he was to himself. He hurriedly snatched his keys from his desk and headed for his car in the parking lot.Peter's heart sprinted as he bolted through the large office corridors, his mind swirling with a flood of worry. Kayla, his lovely fiancée, was in the hospital, and he couldn't afford to waste a single moment. The tenacity in Alex's voice had ignited a wildfire of concern within him, driving him to move with an adrenaline speed he hadn't known he possessed before now.Outside, the air was crisp and a bit smokey, and it did barely little to calm his nerves as he fumbled with his car keys, his hands shakin
Alex stayed back in the room and watched the nurses do what they had to do. Fixing the drip line on her wrist while Kayla still lay unconscious on the bed. She watched till they finished, and then she brought out her phone and called their boss to report the situation.“We have finished, and there is no need for you to panic; your friend would be fine. She should be awake after a while,” the nurse informed her. Alex nodded even though she doesn’t understand what’s going on with Kayla yet, but whatever it is, she believes that Peter will handle it.Meanwhile, at the doctor’s office, Peter sat even more nervous than the first time he had come into the hospital. The doctor’s office is a large, neatly arranged room with nice white blinds, a center table and chair for the doctor, and three extra chairs for visitors. On the left side is an artificial hibiscus flower, standing in its glory. The office had a nice fragrance other than the drug-lingering room he had been in before. It was chill
The doctor nodded at him with a smile on his face after Peter asked the question with excitement in his tone. There is no way he is going back home without making sure Kayla gets all the attention and care she needs to be on her feet.“Okay, that’s some good news there. I mean, I wasn’t expecting all of that." Peter confessed to the doctor. He looked a bit confused. “I guess it’s time for us to get started with tests so we can get the blood donation done as soon as possible." Peter suggested. The doctor nodded and called the nurses to come take Peter to the lab so they could run a few tests on him. In no time, everything was done, and it turned out that he could actually donate so much blood to her.“You feel okay?” Dr. Jakes asked Peter, who had been looking at his hand for the longest time.“Yeah, everything is fine; I just feel strange. I mean, I haven’t really done any of this before. I feel like my soul left my body." Peter said, laughing and looking at the bandage on his hand.
Peter was still sitting on the couch, his jacket resting pretty on the arm of the couch. Moving and tossing her feet a couple of times on the bed, Kayla opened her eyes to meet Peter’s peering eyes looking deep into her soul."Peter,” she called out his name in shock.“Kayla You are awake. Thank goodness. I thought you were going to die and leave me. I was so afraid." He said to her as she held him by the side.“Come off it, man. I’m not dying anytime soon; it’s just a little relapse. That’s all. I will be back on my feet before you know it." She said she was feigning a smile at him amidst her pain.“Is that blood?’ She asked, pointing at the sack of red liquid going into her body."Yes, is it my blood? I guess you and I are going to stick together now without any interruption." Peter teased. He poked her nose a little bit.She chuckled. What do you even mean by that?” She asked in rhetoric.“I can’t wait to get the hell out of here." She said it with a sigh and tried to get up to a s
What do we do from here?” Kayla asked as Peter put her in the car; she has been discharged from the hospital. Kayla scowled at the frustration in her heart. Damn! Her hair just won’t behave. She had slept over at the hospital, and with all the doctor’s prescriptions, she only thinks she would be fine after a longer rest at home. Thankfully, her boss had witnessed everything, so it wouldn’t be a crime now if she stayed off work for some more days. She peered into the mirror and pressed the hair down with her hand. Peter got in from the driver’s seat and observed her mood.“Is there a problem, Kayla?” He asked like a very normal man who cares would do. Kayla sighed again. My hair won’t behave, and it’s giving me some form of concern." She said she was letting it go. The hair bounced up again. Peter laughed. He covered his mouth with his hand, so Kayla didn’t know, but unknown to him, she was staring at him while he looked away, laughing at her.“You laughing at me, Peter?’ She said and
Peter grabbed his bag and left for work while Kayla lay in bed after taking her medications for the morning. Peter knows that Kayla cannot take care of herself while he is away for the whole day, so he sends a personal nurse. Kayla lay in bed, stretching and yawning, when she heard the doorbell chime from the sitting room. The chef was still around; she didn’t bother to stress herself out about getting the door. She wasn’t expecting anyone anyway. She picked up her phone and called the office. Alex quickly answered from her desk."Hello, ma'am," she said, speaking into the phone happily.“Alex. How are you?” Kayla asked, clearing her throat as she spoke in a calm and clear tone.“I am fine, Ms. Kayla. How are you feeling today?” Alex asked.“Well. I am good. I am calling to check in on the G&T logo redesign. I just sent you what they have as the previous; you should take a look at it." Kayla informed her.“Oh! I haven’t checked my mail all morning; let me do that right away." She rep
“I will call you if I need anything, but for now, you can find a safe space for yourself,” Kayla told the nurse.“Okay”. Nurse Betty answered and left for the living room. It was time for her favorite show, so the chef gave her the leverage to watch since she was hired to take care of Kayla until Peter returned.“Thank you, ma'am,” she answered, taking the remote.“I will be in the kitchen if you need anything; just let me know." The chef said that and bowed to her. She stared at the chef strangely because no one had ever done that for her.Meanwhile, in the room, Kayla was already tired and thinking about how to tell her parents, especially her mom, that she had broken the agreement they had when she was growing up—not to get pregnant until she had fully tied the knot with the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She laid on the bed and rolled from end to end, wondering how her mom would take the news. Although it was the first time her mom had seen Peter, she had liked
By the time he got to the office, everyone was happy. The staff had already gotten the news of the bonuses to be shared before the end of the day. He looked over at Tyler. “Is there a reason the entire building seems very busy and a bit rowdy today?” Peter asked blindly. “I guess the promise you made at the site had reached your ears,” Tyler said.“The promise. But that isn't for all the staff; it's only for the engineers and those who worked at the site. They got the news wrong, and whoever is instigating the idea in their heart has no good plans for them. However, maybe Peter wasn't really aware of any of Peter's problems. He had given out his instructions to the accountant, and there is no way Mr. Chen will disburse funds outside of what was discussed. There is no way he was paying far above his budget. The two men walked fast, their shoes clicking against the marble floor, until he got to his office. He had just entered his office when the line began to ring.“Hello”. Peter answ
