"Bless my wife for being a sweet mother and wife; I can't thank her enough," Ethan said.

"Oh! Thank you, ma'am." Peter said, bowing slowly.

"C'mon, I did all I could as a mother, and Kayla had her part to play. You two look good together, and I hope that this works out perfectly for you two. You have my blessings.".

"Well, I can't disagree with my wife; you two have our blessings," Ethan said and got up from the table. His plate was empty, and his chicken was devoured. He had not had a family meal in a long, long time.

He got up to sit on the porch outside. Beside it was a swing seat. Peter thanked Mrs. Ethan for the meal and went out to sit with Ethan, who was busy with his crochet. The old man had a sweet, aging smell, like his father. He wished his dad was still alive to show him a few things.

"You have a beautiful home," Peter said.

"It's a good property; I bought it with my gratuity paycheck two decades ago." Peter's eyes widened.
