CHAPTER 06

The waiter’s eyes broadened, and he quickly shouted, “M-Manger!” And then he ran away.

“Mm? What’s wrong?” Ulmer wondered.

The people who saw the crystal were also almost gasping.

“I-Is that the energy crystal?” one man asked.

“Ah… yeah,” Ulmer answered.

“W-Where did you get it?”

“Somewhere far away from this place,” Ulmer said.

“Will you sell that to me?” one man asked.

“No. Sell it to me,” another man said. “How many gold coins do you need for it?”

“How many can you give?” Ulmer asked. He was trying to see how much this inch-big crystal would sell for.

The manager quickly rushed over to the table and said, “Sir, I will take it. Please give that energy crystal to me. I will give you the gold, and you can also eat freely in this hotel today and for another week if you want.”

“Oh… I like that offer,” Ulmer said and then put the crystal in the manager’s hand. “Give me a fair price. If I know that I’ve been cheated, I will make you pay.”

“I would never cheat on a VIP customer, sir,” the manager said and rushed away to his counter.

“Does that mean he will happily cheat on ordinary customers?” Ulmer could only shake his head.

Within a minute, a dozen dishes were brought to the table, and Ulmer was shocked to see meat items. There was fish, beef, chicken, prawns, lobsters, bird meat and more, with sliced lemons on every dish. They even brought him cool water as well as desserts and fruit juices.

“Whoa…” Ulmer’s mouth drooled, and he wasn’t ashamed of it.

He quickly began to gorge on the items like there was no tomorrow. He didn’t care if he made sounds while eating. He was so hungry, after all.

He ate all the dishes and didn’t leave anything. He didn’t let anything go to waste. Not even a grain of rice, or a piece of meat!

Everyone was impressed by his ability to eat, and some suggested to him that he should participate in food-eating competitions so that he would win great prizes.

Soon, the manager came over with what looked like a bank card in his hand. He then scanned Ulmer’s fingerprint on the card itself, and it automatically saved his data. Ulmer’s name also appeared on the card, surprising him.

How were they able to tell his name from scanning? He guessed that some kind of a supernatural system was working behind the scenes.

The manager then leaned closer and whispered, “There are 850 gold coins worth of money inside. You can use this card to pay for anything at any store, sir.”

“How much is this food worth?” Ulmer asked.

“Just 620 copper coins.”

“Copper? How much is a copper coin worth?”

“100 coppers is 1 silver, and 100 silver is 1 gold.”

“Oh, that means…” His eyes somewhat widened at the thought. “I can eat like this more than ten thousand times with the money that’s in the card?”

“Yes, sir. You can buy a dozen big houses with that money,” the manager said. “However, the outsiders are not allowed to buy property in their name unless they spend at least ten years here. I hope you’re satisfied with the price I paid.”

“Mm…” Ulmer was greatly surprised to hear that, but he didn’t show it on his face.

As Ulmer was leaving, he was also given a VIP customer card, which he gladly took.

“I guess I don’t have to pay for seven more days for eating,” Ulmer thought to himself. “But I can’t stay in one place. I have to roam around and know more about this place. And I need to find Brianna.”

As he was walking, he saw that the streets were very clean, and the houses were extremely clean. Every house was bright as if they all painted their houses every other year.

“Everybody is slim and is dressed neatly,” Ulmer said. “And I don’t see any beggars or even poor people for that matter. This place is one of a kind, alright.”

He was walking slowly because his stomach was very full.

“W-Wait,” just then he remembered something. “We got here through a portal. We can also leave through a portal whenever we want, right?”

Dove didn’t say anything.

“W-Why aren’t you saying anything, Dove?” Ulmer asked. “Stop making me feel nervous.”

“I can open a portal,” Dove said, “but let us first achieve our goals.”

Ulmer was somewhat relieved to hear that. “I know my goal, but what exactly is your goal?”

“This city is ruled by who they call an Emperor,” Dove said. “You just have to… choose… to either kill him or save him.”

Ulmer frowned. “I can choose? What kind of bullshit is this? If it’s your goal, then why are you giving me the right to choose?”

“I’m the Spirit System, Ulmer,” Dove said. “I don’t force you to do anything against your will. As you move forward, you will be presented with two choices whether you like it or not. I’m just telling you about the future, that’s all. It will be up to you to decide what you’ll choose, and depending on your actions, I will be able to come to a conclusion.”

“I don’t get what you’re saying, but this sounds way too troublesome than I thought,” Ulmer said. “The people here look nice. They are smiling and are being friendly toward an outsider like me. I don’t want to cause unnecessary trouble in this peaceful place.”

Just then, a young lady came running and ended up bumping into Ulmer hard from the side.

Both of them fell to the ground, and their lips ended up squeezing together very hard.

Both their eyes enlarged very much.
