4. Dear Agony

Maksim looked at Viktor questioningly. He waited for Viktor to explain the meaning of the sentence that had offended him.

"Tell me!"

With a slight yell, Maksim ordered Viktor to quickly answer his question. However Maksim's bluster and sharp eyes didn't make Viktor's guts shrink. Instead, the man stared at Maksim as he pulls one corner of his lips up.

"For a man like you, shouldn't you be intelligent enough to understand my words, the honorable Mr. Maksim?!"

Viktor grinned as he lightly tapped Maksim's left shoulder. He turned to Xandrova and found her looking at him. Viktor nodded to his wife.

"Come on, Zoya!"

'Damn! How dare he mention my full name in an insulting tone! And, how dare he return my gaze,' Maksim is furious with Viktor's behavior. That poor guy shouldn't be able to move when I look at him, he continued inwardly.

Viktor leaves with Xandrova, leaving behind his wife's family and Maksim, who is always trying to take Xandrova away from him. The man without a job held Xandrova's hand tightly, while Maksim could only step aside and let Viktor leave with his wife.

"You see, don't you?!"

Maksim pointed at the couple who had just left. He vented to Xandrova's parents.

"Didn't you promise to help me get close to Zoya and take her back from that loser?!"

Maksim then demanded a promise that had been made by both Maksim and Xandrova's parents. He didn't want his sacrifice to be in vain as he had given so many luxurious gifts to Davidoff as well as Galana.

"Calm down, Young Master Maksim!"

Davidoff moved closer to Maksim. He lightly patted the right shoulder of the blue-eyed man with diagonal eyebrows, and it was clear from the look in his eyes that there was strong emotion in Maksim.

"We still have plenty of ways to keep that loser guy away from Zoya. Isn't that right, Galana?"

Davidoff asked in defense of his wife, who always had bright ideas to launch their plan to separate Xandrova and Viktor.

"Have you forgotten the gift I gave you?! Huh?!"

'Oh, my! Why does Maksim love to bring that up?'

Davidoff asked himself while looking for the best answer so he could not offend Maksim. Amid his confusion, he and Galana glanced at each other.

Unknown to his parents-in-law and Maksim, Viktor could still clearly hear the conversations of people who didn't like him.

'It turns out that Dad and Mom received gifts from Maksim! No wonder the two of them are always eager to keep me away from Zoya!' said Viktor's little heart.

"Viktor, what's wrong? You look like you're having something in your mind?"

Xandrova stopped her steps when they had just turned and walked further away from the Four Seasons Hotel.

"Are you still thinking about what happened earlier?"

Xandrova also didn't get an answer from Viktor. She stopped in her tracks, and so did Viktor. Xandrova touched her husband's masculine face with both hands. The young lady didn't forget to smile and hoped to relieve the anxiety in Viktor's heart.

'Yes, Zoya. As a Husband, I feel useless. And this jealousy will always arise whenever I see Maksim coming for you! Not only that, I also thought hard about how I could escape the poverty in me! And I'll never divorce you! Never!'

Viktor answered Xandrova's question honestly in his mind. And once again, he would continue to try to maintain his marriage with Androva.

“I … I didn't ….”

Viktor had no intention of continuing his sentence. He smiled when he saw four teenage girls coming from behind Xandrova while holding their smartphones.

"Why are you smiling like that, Viktor?"

Xandrova was suspicious when she saw Viktor smiling and acting strangely towards her.

'You're always full of questions. Who are you exactly to make Grandpa trust you so much, Viktor?!'

Xandrova continued her question in her heart while smiling. She didn't want to make Viktor suspicious.

"You'll see it yourself, Zoya."

Viktor chuckled and was ready to be his wife's bodyguard. There were always fans everywhere Xandrova went.

"Miss Zoya!"

"Miss Zoya!"

It only took a few seconds since Viktor closed his mouth. Several people screamed his wife's name. He looked back and forced himself to smile.

"Ah! Are they coming for me, Viktor?"

Viktor nodded, confirming his wife's guess. He smiled when he saw the happy facial expressions of the four teenagers.

"That's right, Zoya. Looks like they were waiting for you on purpose."

"Miss Zoya, can we take a photo with you?"

"Yes, Miss! Please allow us to take a photo with you!"

Viktor smiled when he saw Xandrova surrounded by fans. The man seemed to be used to the presence of fans wherever they were.

"Give me your smartphone! I'll help take some portraits."

Viktor said while smiling at Xandrova, who was shrugging her shoulders.

"Are you willing to let me greet 'em properly?"

Xandrova asked softly. She started at Viktor, as did the four teenagers.

"Sir, would you mind if you helped us take some photos with Miss Zoya?" The blonde teenager asked with a pleading look.

"Oh, come on, Zoya! I'm your husband. Don't be shy with me, okay!"

Viktor held his wife tightly, then turned to the blonde teenager who asked earlier.

"Of course not, Miss. You can give me your smartphone, and I'll gladly help you!"

All of Xandrova's fans smiled broadly. They looked at each other, then thanked Viktor many times.

"Thank you, Sir!"

"You're the best, Sir."

Not only were thanks heard, but various praises poured out of the fans' mouths. It managed to make Xandrova's cheeks turn red.

"You're such a good man! And Miss Zoya is so blessed to have such a supportive husband like you!"

"Ah, that's right! I'm sure Mr. Viktor would be willing to sacrifice everything he has for you, Miss Zoya!"

The blonde blurted out what was in her heart and mind.

"Including his life, I believe it!"

The blonde completed her sentence. The three other friends nodded their heads. The four girls laughed happily because Viktor and Xandrova had granted their request.

But not far away, a pair of eyes watched Viktor and Xandrova's every move. It was Maksim's pair of eagle eyes.

"Huh! I'm so sick of seeing that loser's behavior, Feliks!"

Maksim mocked Viktor and whinned to his assistantーFeliks Grobachiev. He immediately took a thousand steps towards Viktor and Xandrova.

When he got there, Maksim said some inappropriate words.

"Bozhe! Posmotri, chto zdes proiskhodit?" Meaning, "Oh my! Look, what's going on here!”
