2024-09-25 22:13:49Liam paused his words and stared at his father's face as if searching for something. When he saw the amazement in it, he continued.
“I'm a live-in son-in-law and won't be coming home yet. My wife is good to me but my in-laws are the worst people ever. I really want to teach them a little lesson before revealing my identity to them.”
“And I also want to know if my wife will fall in love with me.”
Richard let out a chuckle and nodded in understanding.
“What's their family name?”
“They are the Westons and it was the late Ryan Weston who got me married to his granddaughter because I saved his life. Although I agreed to the marriage because I fell in love with the young lady in question.” Liam explained and saw that his father was silent.
After a long pause, the man responded. “Ryan Weston was a good man. Well, I'll leave you to do your thing.”
Richard made his way to the door. “Everything I own is yours and I'm sure you'll expand them. Make your Dad proud.”
“Sure Dad. Thank you for your understanding and for trusting me.”
Richard left the place and Sean entered almost immediately.
“Sir, Mr Sawyer asked me to come inside and speak with my new boss.”
“Yeah.”
Just like a boss that he was, Liam went ahead and sat on the CEOs chair. “Since I'm now in complete charge of LR real estates. I need to see the ongoing projects and the people vying for partnership.”
“Yes Sir.” The man replied and hastily placed a laptop before Liam where he showed him the ongoing building projects which LR was handling.
It was the construction of a very large estate which contained many buildings. The buildings were at the last stage of completion.
“Ok. This is impressive.” Liam nodded his head several times and lifted his face to stare at the man before him.
“Tell me, how many companies want to be our interior decorators?”
“Two companies so far. They are, Navey interiors and Top notch interiors.”
“Good, get them to present their best designs. Anyone…”
Liam paused his words and thought about something he just heard. “Did you say that Top notch interiors want to work with us?”
“Yes Sir.” Sean replied, the look on his face indicated confusion. What was going on in the mind of his boss.
Liam remembered that Top notch interiors belonged to the Westons. It was their family business.
With a wicked sneer on his face, he let out a dry chuckle.
Noticing the expression on his boss's face, Sean inquired. “Sir, is anything the matter?”
“Nothing at all. Just give me heads up about this project.”
Although the man was confused, he nodded at Liam in agreement and was about to leave the office but Liam called him back.
“Wait, I want you to walk me to the gate. Remember, no one should know who I am, not yet.”
The man nodded and waited for Liam. However, Liam's phone began to ring at that moment. It was Miranda, his wife.
Miranda was indeed the only person among the Westons who treated him right. Since the previous night, no one cared about him. In fact, they were all so angry at him.
“Hi honey.”
“Liam, where are you and why did you not come home last night?”
“But mum told me not…”
“Forget about Mom and start coming home right now. We've been called together for a meeting by Lady Mary. From the sound of her voice, I think it must be urgent.”
After a moment of silence, Liam replied. “Ok, I'm on my way. What about your restaurant? Don't tell me that you closed it up for some meeting…”
“I have two people working for me. Don't you remember?” Miranda cut into his words.
“Hurry up and come home, I'm waiting for you.”
Miranda ended the call even before Liam could say anything else.
While pacing the sitting room of their little apartment, Miranda wondered what could possibly be the reason for the urgent meeting.
Kimberly was in her husband's house but she was sure that her busybody sister would surely be at the meeting. She was always present at everything that concerned the Westons and Miranda had been wondering if she was a jobless person.
Her husband was rich but she couldn't even join him in running their business. She was always sticking her nose in Miranda's business.
The worst was that their parents supported everything she did just because her husband was rich.
Liam soon cautiously opened the door. He was being careful and trying to avoid any unexpected slap.
“Has Mom and Dad left already?” Liam asked as soon as he opened the door and saw a restless Miranda.
She was obviously angry at him.
“Where the heck have you been? And do you realize that your actions last night infuriated Lady Mary. You know how she feels about us.”
Miranda cast her husband a disappointed look before turning to pick up her bag on the Sofa.
“Let's go. I'm sure that they'd be disappointed in us for coming late. Everyone must be waiting.”
She began to walk towards the door but stopped in her tracks and continued. “And, I'd advise that you apologize to Lady Mary. She was so mad that you ruined grandpa's remembrance last night. You also know that grandpa treated you like his own child.”
Miranda was about to open the door when Liam grabbed onto her arm. With a gentle hold, he pulled her over to himself and embraced her.
Although his action stunned the lady, she briefly reciprocated the embrace before pulling out.
“Do you need anything from me? Why are you being so dramatic?”
With a warm smile, Liam gave her a reassuring nod before saying. “Everything will soon be fine. I promise to make it up to you and treat you like a real queen that you are.”
Miranda furrowed her brows, cast him a confused look before walking away. “Come on and stop being so dramatic. We're running out of time.”
The couple soon arrived at the family villa and from outside, they could hear the others voices. They were late indeed.
From where she was seated, Lady Mary looked so furious as she glanced at the wall clock at the place. With a ruffled face, she also scanned everyone's faces and spoke coldly.
“We can't keep waiting for Miranda and her good for nothing husband. Let's begin immediately.”
The Old lady was soon disrupted by Liam and Miranda who matched into the sitting room at the moment.
With the arrival of the despised couple, everyone turned to their direction in a disgusted look.
