At night, as it grew deeper, everyone chatted for a while before retiring to their rooms. The next day, Raylie and Violet woke up early and were delighted to hear that Miss Grimwald, had been saved by Daniel, who had also stayed at the house the night before. The two girls ran around the front and back gardens, laughing and playing.

At one point, Daniel felt an itch on the tip of his nose. He reflexively grabbed a small hand and opened his eyes to see Raylie's hand in his grasp, with Violet standing beside her, giggling.
