16. Divorce paper

"Mom! Mom!" Ellen called as she walked into the house, she met her father sitting on the couch with a laptop on his lap.

"Is everything okay?" He asked her,

"Your mother has just gone to the room, it's past 2 pm and you know that she loves to take a nap by this time for absolutely no reason."

"Haha," Ellen laughed,

"Anyway, is Oscar around?"

"No, I haven't seen that one since last night, he didn't bother coming back home, as if he knew that I was going to send him packing." His father replied and Ellen chuckled.

"Why are you looking for him though?" He asked her.

"Oh, just wanted to confirm, I got these papers from Karen's assistant earlier today and you wouldn't believe what it is." She said and took it out from the brown envelope, before giving it to her father.

"What's this?" He asked, taking it from her.

"A divorce paper," she said and laughed,

"I can't believe that idiot tore the divorce papers I gave to him and sent me another one today, well jokes on him, I'm willing to sign it wholeheartedly."

"Just image this guy," her dad uttered after reading through the papers,

"Well, what are you waiting for? Sign the papers and send them back to Karen, let's get this over with. My company is about to make a breakthrough, he should not feel like we need him."

"Haha," Ellen laughed,

"That's why I wanted to show Mom, Oscar thinks he is something huh?"

"Pfft, now enough of that, when is Hudson's meeting with the Slytherins?" Her father inquired about what was more important to him than the divorce papers.

The Hudsons were already in contract with the Slytherin Empire, and Ellen's father knew that with Micheal Hudson's connection, his company could also get into an official contract with the Slytherin, and hopefully they'll become partners at some point.

"About that," Ellen replied,

"The meeting is tomorrow. Micheal and I will leave this evening, it is just a three-hour drive to Axel City. We will stay at a hotel overnight. The meeting is by eleven a.m. so we can't afford to be late as we are not the only ones scheduled for tomorrow."

"I see, thank goodness, that's a lot better than some idiots...

"Dad," Ellen called his name jokingly,

"That's my husband. "

"Correction, your ex-husband... in fact, I wish it was possible to rewind time and make sure that you never got married to him in the first place." He added and Ellen laughed before taking a seat next to her dad.

"But can I ask you something?" She said, and nodding his head, her father replied,

"I'm all ears," He dropped his laptop on the centre table.

"Why do you trust Micheal so much?" She asked, and her father turned to her with a quizzical expression.

"What do you mean?" He asked,

"Don't you?"

"I do," Ellen lied briskly,

"It's just that, I want to know how well you know him to trust your company in his hand?"

"Hmm, you see, his father and I met a few years back when both our companies were still very little. We kept in touch until now, and you know I told you before that... uhm... I wanted you to consider Micheal?"

"Yeah?"

"I wanted Micheal to be my heir because merging his company and mine will give you and my grandchildren a life worth living, he has connections to the Slytherins, so even better." Her father replied, feeling confident in his response.

"What?" He asked when Ellen seemed to make a strange face,

"You don't trust him?" He asked.

"No no no," Ellen interjected,

"It's not that, it's more like I just want to confirm that you trust him enough, I... just can't help but have this feeling that he only pretends to love me because he'll acquire your company, expanding his father's business which will all eventually become his company."

"I understand your worries, my dear," He took his hand over his daughters shoulder

"Let me ask you this," he continued,

"Would you rather be married to a man who has all company in his name, or Oscar who has nothing but a rented apartment to his name?"

Ellen rolled back her eyes in disdain, the answer was obvious because as much as Ellen wanted someone who truly loved her, she also wanted to make sure that her future and that of her children were secured.

When it comes to being loved, she can't deny the fact that Oscar gave all he had into their relationship to make her happy. In his arms, she felt what it was like to be truly loved and considered.

However, with Micheal, she felt nothing, all she saw was a wealthy man who believed he could charm any girl with his riches.

These thoughts left Ellen confused and hoping that she wasn't making a bad decision by letting Oscar out of her life. Her mind had been made up, and she knew that nothing would make Oscar forgive.

"You haven't answered me yet, what are you thinking about?" Ellen's father's voice snapped her out of those train of thought.

"Uhm, sorry, I was carried away for a moment," she said,

"I'd rather go with Micheal of course, but if I don't see any signs of love I have every reason to break the relationship."

"Ah," her father exclaimed,

"You had better make that choice now before I make him the CEO, when you divorce him, you'll be left stranded, I won't be alive forever you know?"

"I know," Ellen replied, pretending like that wasn't the reason why she agreed to even go with Micheal in the first place.

"Well," she uttered and stood up, intending to end the conversation,

"I'll be in my room until Mom wakes up, I have something to discuss with her before I leave."

"Okay sure," her father uttered, returning the divorce paper to her.

"Oh thanks, I need to sign this quickly and send it back to Karen."
