The meeting ended after nearly four hours, it was an acquisition target business meeting, they spent time speaking on the position of their target in the market, and there was so much deliberation on how and how not to begin.
Oscar, who wasn't entirely new to the process, stayed silent for most of the conversation. He only said a few things whenever someone asked for his opinion, and that was it. The meeting ended without a definite conclusion, as it was to continue virtually until they reached a final decision. They had to take care of current investors and a few prospective partners for the time being. As soon as Oscar walked out of the conference room, he sighed heavily. He had a lot to learn if he was going to play a good role as acting CEO, because the sooner they found out that he didn't know so much, the sooner they'd use his head. "How was the meeting, sir?" Leo, who had been in his office until five minutes ago, asked when Oscar stepped out of the elevator on the ground floor. "It went well," Oscar replied, "But like you said, I have a lot to learn." He whispered, and Leo nodded. "You seem very interested, sir. I will give you a few more reports to read through, and I will recommend videos from the CEO of other companies, and your mother knows a lot also... speaking of your mother, sir," Leo said, arranging the papers in his hand. "What about her?" Oscar asked. "She just arrived, outside, and so as your uncle, Mr Aiden Slytherin, I suggest you see him before you leave," Loe replied, but Oscar wasn't paying attention because he was distracted by those men from the meeting who kept coming over to say goodbye and shake hands with him. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" Oscar asked after responding to all the greetings, and Leo did not hesitate to repeat what he had said. "Oh, here he comes now," Leo looked toward the door, and Oscar also turned in that direction to see a pot-bellied man in his late forties walk into the office. "That's him?" He asked. "Yes sir, that is your father's younger brother. He must be here to see you too, or maybe not, but it would be best if you introduce yourself to him." Leo suggested, and Oscar nodded his head. He signaled his bodyguards to hold on while he walked up to Aiden with a cheerful countenance. "Good day, sir." He extended his hand for a handshake, and Aiden raised a brow, wondering who this young man was and why he came to greet him. "Good day," Aiden replied, thinking that it was a new worker who must have been told that he was a senior associate. "The name is Oscar sir, I was told that you are Mrs... my mother's brother-in-law." Oscar introduced himself properly and the man's jaws dropped in astonishment. "It is you?" He asked, faking a broad smile as though he was truly excited to meet him. "Yes sir," Oscar replied, oblivious to the evil plans going on in the seemingly innocent mind of his uncle. "I should have known," Aiden continued and patted him on the shoulder, a typical display of elderly behavior. "You have a slight resemblance to your father, and it's such a sad tale that he is not here to see you." "Hmm," Oscar sighed, He wasn't quite sure how to respond. "Anyway, I'm on my way to speak with a few people, stop by my house for dinner tonight let's talk more, we have missed your presence in the Slytherin house." Aiden offered and without thinking twice about it, Oscar nodded his head in agreement. "I will stop by," He said and shook hands with the old man again before he left to attend to the things he talked about. Inviting Oscar to his home was the last thing he wanted to do, but how else was he supposed to treat the young man without revealing the hatred buried in his heart for him? Once he was gone, Oscar's bodyguard crowded him up again instantly, and for a second he was startled, it was something that he had yet to get used to. Following the same way he had in earlier, Oscar went out of the building and was headed for the parking lot when he remembered that Leo had mentioned that his mother had also arrived. "Where is she?" He turned to ask, but Leo wasn't with them, from the glass door he could see Leo still inside the building. "Do any of you know where my mother is?" He asked the bodyguard, and immediately one of them replied. "I will take you to meet her immediately." He took the lead, and Oscar followed from behind, they approached one of the cars parked outside, and Oscar could see his mother behind the wheel, but she wasn't driving, rather she was immersed in whatever she seemed to be doing on her phone. Amy raised her head when Oscar knocked gently on her mirror. "How was the meeting?" She asked him, after rolling down the glass. "Oh, it went well, at least for the time being, and I met Mr Aiden on my way out," Oscar added and his mother was immediately taken aback, she didn't want her newly found son to have anything to do with that man. "What did he say to you?" She asked, wondering if he had treated Oscar with disrespect. "He was happy to see me," Oscar replied, "He also invited me over for dinner at his house, would you like to come along with me... "No," she replied very quickly to Oscar's surprise, "I don't want you to have anything to do with that man, he will smile at you but he hates you, don't be fooled by his charming behaviour Oscar." "Oh," Oscar exclaimed, that was quite an unexpected twist, and since she knew better, he asked, "So should I cancel then?" "No need," Amy replied, "Don't go, and if he asks, tell him that you couldn't make it, if he tries to reschedule, tell him that you are very busy and will get back to him when you are free. For now, Oscar, stick to learning how the company works, by the way, you should be getting ready for tomorrow, we have a lot of investors and those who wish to partner with the company." "Okay then," Oscar replied, even though he couldn't wait for tomorrow to come because his wife and her boyfriend would be there. On his way back to the Slytherin's mansion, Oscar couldn't overlook the jewel shop he saw along the way. The name of the store caught his attention especially because they make the most beautiful and expensive jewelry in West Arcadia. He recalled how many times Ellen had told him that she wanted to visit this place, to purchase one of the most expensive Neal Diamond rings. For Oscar back then, buying a ring worth over two hundred million dollars was the last thing he'd ever think of. But with his current net worth, Oscar knew that he could buy one hundred of it if he wanted, and would still remain rich. But what was the point? Ellen was no longer with him, except... "Turn the car," He ordered the driver and Leo couldn't help but ask, "Did you forget something?" "No, I mean back to the jewellery shop, I need to get something from there if you don't mind," He replied, and Leo couldn't help but marvel at how respectful Oscar was, despite how much he had acquired overnight. "As so
Walking into the store, Loe could not believe the crowd he saw gathered at the front section of the store where a few watches were on display. "Oh dear God," He uttered and rushed towards the scene, worried that something has happened to his boss, Loe was already freaking out so much. As he got to the scene, Leo noticed that Oscar was still standing and he looked fine, but the problem at hand was the fact that numerous people were accusing him of theft. "I'm sorry what's going on?" He asked one of the customers to confirm what was going on so he'd know how to intervene. "Oh, this man came into the store to buy something with money he stole from his boss... "What the hell?" Leo exclaimed, "And Oscar being such a nice man, wouldn't even try to defend himself properly, sigh, at least this has given him a clear image of what this place is like." Leo thought to himself before taking out his phone. "Excuse me!" He finally made his way through the crowd to the centre of attent
Thursday came faster than expected, and this was the day Oscar had been waiting for. Leo ordered the Neal diamond ring which was brought to Oscar that morning, and he was delighted to have it. It will serve as an element of surprise for Ellen. Before going to the office, Oscar had reviewed the companies, and he knew how much influence he had over who and who would not become partners with the Slytherin Empire. "Are you ready, sir?" Leo asked as he came to check up on him and to confirm whether or not he was ready to go. "Oh, I am very ready to go," Oscar answered with a mischievous smirk. He picked up the ring box and took out the Neal diamond ring with a smile before placing it on his finger. "Let's go," He said and left the house immediately with Leo. They used a different car this time, but the same number of escorts as always. The drive took the same time, and when they got to the parking lot, he could not believe the number of cars parked outside. It felt as though the enti
"Are you seeing this?" Ellen said whilst staring at the name of the CEO on the office door. "Mr. Oscar Fred Slytherin," Micheal uttered and chuckled, "If only it were Oscar," He added, before knowing on the door. "Come in," a voice replied from the other side and they both walked in, unaware of who or what they were about to meet. "Good day," the man on the desk greeted them as they walked in and both Micheal and Ellen proceeded to shake hands with him, the relief on Ellen's face when she saw that it wasn't Oscar could not be overemphasised. "You must be Mr. Oscar Slytherin, it's such an honour to meet you, sir," Micheal said while he took his seat, but the man on the desk shook his head and said, "Unfortunately I'm not, my name is Leo Angus, the CEO is not here right now, and he had asked me to carry out this interview on his behalf," Leo replied and Micheal sighed in frustration. "Can we wait for him?" He asked, "I'd love to speak with the CEO by myself if you don't mind.
In a fit of rage, Micheal walked out of the elevator on the ground floor. Those who saw him avoided him because he looked just like he was about to start a war. As he got to the receptionist's desk, he dropped his documents on the table so loudly that it startled the receptionist herself. "Is there something I can help you with, sir?" She asked him, remaining as calm and composer as possible. "Yes, I want to see the managing director immediately," He said to her, his tone so harsh that he got people staring at them from all corners of the vicinity. "Micheal please bring your voice down, yelling won't solve our problems right now," Ellen said to him with a sigh, she was more than embarrassed by his current behaviour, even though she clearly understood the reason behind it. "I'm sorry, sir, but Mr. John Catar is very busy right now. He had a lot of appointments just like you. He has representatives for interviews. I suggest you come back tomorrow, I can book an appointment for yo
Oscar was seated in his office, more than ten minutes after Micheal had gone to see John Cater. He wasn't doing so much in the office until a knock was heard on the door and he asked whoever it was to come in.Mr. John Catar, the managing director walked into his office looking displeased, he held the documents from the Caribbean enterprise in his hand while he said,"Pardon me sir, but is there a reason why you refused to see the representatives from this company?" He asked, and Oscar nodded his head and replied, "Yes, I have my reasons, is there a problem?" He inquired, hoping that the MD hadn't come to talk him into changing his mind."Not that there is a problem sir... but uhm, Mr William Hudson, the CEO himself was a very good friend to your father, they've been in contract together for years now, and although they aren't the largest of companies they are one of our investments" John tried to explain, but Oscar wasn't listening. "Like I said, Mr John, I have my reasons, don't
Micheal couldn't wait to tell Ellen the good news, he knew that she would be relieved as much as he was, even if he had to wait a week, it didn't matter to him, as long as the contract was not terminated. Getting out of the elevator, Ellen couldn't wait to ask him how the meeting with John went. As soon as she saw him, she left her seat and walked up to him. "It was all a mistake," Micheal said, even before she asked, and Ellen heaved a sigh of relief. "I told you not to worry," she said, "I'm so glad it has been sorted out... "Not yet," Micheal interjected while walking toward one of the seats. "I'll have to come back in two days." While the couple chatted away, Oscar stepped out of the elevator, and the first thing he saw was the both of them. "Oh shit, I thought they'll be gone by now," He cursed, but unfortunately, he couldn't turn back now. His bodyguards were behind him, and he felt that it would be very awkward to just turn around and head back into the elevator. "Osc
"I was very disappointed sir when I saw her, I feel so bad that she had to leave you to be with someone else, now look at you, she would be left speechless when she learns that you are the CEO," Leo uttered after Oscar had narrated his ordeal with Ellen. "Let's not be too hasty," Oscar replied while looking out the window of the car, watching the street was a good source of entertainment for him. "I'm not even sure how long this will last," He added, as much as Oscar enjoyed what his life had become, he kept it in his mind that it could all end in the blink of an eye, if he wasn't the true Slytherin heir then it's over. "What do you mean by that sir? You are where you are supposed to be, of course it will last long, as long as Mrs Amy Slytherin is here, no one can stop you," Leo tried to encourage him, he was also aware of the reason why Amy was in such a haste to make Oscar CEO, and he supported her decision because Aiden can not be trusted. If not because the police had no evi
