18. Ruthless

On his way back to the Slytherin's mansion, Oscar couldn't overlook the jewel shop he saw along the way. The name of the store caught his attention especially because they make the most beautiful and expensive jewelry in West Arcadia.

He recalled how many times Ellen had told him that she wanted to visit this place, to purchase one of the most expensive Neal Diamond rings. For Oscar back then, buying a ring worth over two hundred million dollars was the last thing he'd ever think of.

But with his current net worth, Oscar knew that he could buy one hundred of it if he wanted, and would still remain rich. But what was the point? Ellen was no longer with him, except...

"Turn the car," He ordered the driver and Leo couldn't help but ask,

"Did you forget something?"

"No, I mean back to the jewellery shop, I need to get something from there if you don't mind," He replied, and Leo couldn't help but marvel at how respectful Oscar was, despite how much he had acquired overnight.

"As soon as Oscar realizes the kind of people he'll have to deal with, he will have no choice but to be ruthless." Leo thought to himself, he knew that the world of wealthy people isn't run by soft-minded individuals, but by ruthless men and women who wouldn't hesitate to seize every opportunity to take down another.

"Of course sir," He replied as the car turned around, driving straight to the jewellery shop.

On getting there, he walked into the jewellery shop, along with one of the bodyguards, he couldn't help but admire everything he saw inside there, but Oscar was after just one thing, the Neal diamond ring.

"Excuse me?" He met one of the shop attendants, a young man in his early twenties, tall and elegant, but full of pride, just like most workers here.

"Yes, can I help you?" He asked Oscar with a straight face, he knew most of the influential people in Axel City, but he hadn't seen this man anywhere.

Sure he looked wealthy, but most wealthy people don't come in here on their own, they send their assistants, so he believed that Oscar was nothing more than the assistant to a wealthy man.

"I'd like to see the Neal diamonds please," He said to him, and the man rolled back his eyes disdainfully.

"Would you like to see it, or buy it? We don't let anyone just see it, it's not an artwork on display." The man replied, with a hint of disregard in his tone.

Oscar noticed this behaviour and just assumed that he was one of those underpaid workers who chose to transfer their aggression to innocent customers.

"I'd like to buy it," He replied.

"For who?" The man asked, trying to know which of the many rich men, Oscar worked for.

"Excuse me?" Oscar asked.

"What business do you have with whom I'm buying it for?"

"Tsk tsk,"

"Why are you acting like you are buying this for yourself? We all know you can't afford it, so tell me, who is your boss?"

Oscar's jaws dropped in astonishment,

"This is how you treat customers in this place?" He asked, and the young man rolled his eyes.

"Hey!" Oscar's bodyguard grabbed the young man by the collar,

"He wants to see the Neal diamonds, then show him the Neal diamond."

"Don't touch me!" He yelled, and this drew the attention of a few shoppers and other salespeople in the store.

"I said if he wants to see the Neal Diamonds...

"Wait, what's going on here?" One of the security who came in as soon as he heard the noise asked, he saw Oscar's bodyguard holding onto the salesman and instructed him to let go, but he refused until Oscar said so.

"It's one of these assistants, he claims that he wants to buy the Neal diamond for himself, but we all know that he cannot afford it. I think he should be arrested because he must have stolen enough money from his boss." The salesman exclaimed and Oscar could not believe his ears.

"How does someone just assume that I would even steal from... how can a person think like this?" He wondered.

And what surprised him the most was the fact that a lot of people agreed with him, these included some customers and even other sales people.

"Excuse me, sir, who is your boss?" The security asked and tried to approach Oscar but his bodyguards blocked his path.

"Step out of the way," the security commanded him, but instead of responding, Oscar's bodyguard tapped the ear pod and uttered,

"There is a need for back up in here, I repeat there is a need for back up in here."

Back at the receiving end, inside the car that was parked across the store, the other three bodyguards got the message and proceeded to get out of the car immediately.

"Is everything okay?" Leo asked.

"It appears that Mr Oscar is in trouble." One of the guards replied, before closing the door.

"What the hell?"
