7. Without a DNA test

By nightfall, they were all seated in the car, Oscar, the chief, and two cops along with him. The three of them were not dressed in uniforms and did not go along with an official police car.

The fact that they also chose to drive at night made no sense to Oscar. It'll take them three hours to get there, and they left the station by 7 pm.

"Why didn't they leave earlier?" He kept that question to himself.

He also contemplated whether or not to ask the chief about the Slytherin family, and why they were taking him there, and he couldn't come up with any reason to be afraid to ask.

"Am I the man in the picture?" He asked the chief who was seated next to him at the back, and the chief replied with a smile,

"Wouldn't it be wonderful?"

"Wouldn't you confirm first? What if I am not their son? That will put both you and me into a lot of trouble. It has been twenty-six years since that child went missing, what are the chances that he is even alive?" He asked the chief, to further understand how the old man intended to handle the situation.

"You know," the chief smiled,

"It's such a coincidence that we found you twenty-six years later, and you are of the same age ...

"He will be twenty-seven, not twenty-six, " Oscar cut him off.

"Listen here," the chief frowned, but then relaxed and smiled because he remembered that Oscar was his only means to receive that reward.

"While I was away for a few hours, I sent your information to the head station, and they confirmed that you are Aston Slytherin's long-lost son...

"Without a DNA test?" Oscar cut him off again, and the chief wished that he would just shut up and play along.

"They had other basic data used for the analysis, plus, Mr. Aston Slytherin went missing nearly two months ago, we can't do a DNA test until we find him." The chief explained, and to stop Oscar from asking more questions, he added,

"This will be the biggest breakthrough in your life, Mr Oscar, from a man who can barely pay three million dollars back to the company that accused him, to a man who can throw a hundred million into the trash because it's worthless."

"You should be thanking me," the chief continued,

"I check that picture every year hoping to find you, and I finally did, image if I don't check it? So Mr Oscar, consider this a blessing from heaven, you are finally going home to where you belong."

"Hmm," Oscar sighed heavily,

Even if he wasn't truly their son, Oscar could already imagine what life would be like if he were living as a pretend son. Since Aston Slytherin had no other child, he would be the heir of the Slytherin Empire, and it's only a miracle that running a company like that was in his field of study.

He could use this to pay back Joseph McCarthy for framing him, and exposing him and his counterparts to the public. And then Ellen, his wife, who left him for Micheal Hudson.

The heavens knew how far he would go to make Micheal's life a living hell if it all turned good for him. At this point, Oscar was already considering playing along with the scheme whether or not he was a true Slytherin heir.

Meanwhile, in a lavish apartment, built on the rocky region of the city, far away from the heart of the city itself. Ellen was seated in the living room, her head on the lap of her newly found man.

One that she despised, knowing that all he cared about was her father's money and nothing else. Being with him was against her wish, but she still believed that Oscar had nothing to offer. Not that she never loved him, but a lady has to do what she has to do to survive.

"Have you decided what to wear for the meeting?" Micheal asked, he took his eyes off the television and gently stroked her hair.

"You mean, the meeting with the Slytherin Empire? It's two days away, I still have time to decide." She replied.

"I was thinking, we could go shopping for an outfit together, we must look our best to appear before the Slytherin's. Those people can judge you by your appearance, even driving a Benz to their place is considered low class." He explained as Ellen rolled her eyes disdainfully.

"It's just a business meeting. If all goes well, we will partner with them, and just like other companies they've partnered with, yours will rise...

"You mean, your father's company," Micheal cut her off,

"He intends to make me CEO, and as a CEO, I want the progress of the company more than anything else. And you, my love, you will benefit so much from it, more than your bank account can contain."

"Haha," Ellen chuckled,

"I'm looking forward to that," she mumbled.

Micheal leaned over to place a kiss on her cheek, but she stopped him halfway,

"Stop it," she said, with an unrealistic blush, and a fake smile,

"Let's focus on the movie please, I don't want to miss a moment." She added.

Truly, the series had captured her attention just like most Korean dramas with a handsome male lead that gets the ladies daydreaming. But Ellen's reason for dodging the kiss was entirely different.

Getting intimate with Micheal was something she avoided. She was okay with his lovey-dovey behaviour and wished it would stay that way, at least until the marriage was official.

Micheal relaxed, and continued to run his fingers across her hair while watching the series with her. But all he could think about was the success of his meeting with the Slytherins. He needed to make a very good first impression and hoped his influential background could be used as an advantage. One little mistake, and it could be over for him and the entire Hudson enterprise.
