As anticipated, the drive through the night took three hours, and at exactly 10:32 p.m, they arrived at Axel City. It was quiet throughout the city, mostly because those who live here are very influential and wealthy families.
The streets were not filled with clubs, only a few, and also it was past ten pm, so most people had returned to their houses. The drive to the Slytherin's house took twenty minutes, they passed numerous checkpoints, and being a police chief, the man had easy access through these checkpoints by showing off his official license. The Slytherin family bought a massive plot of land, enough to create a small town. Not just that, the position of the land was spectacular, being situated above the city near the rocks. Each member of the family had their house at different points, but the Slytherin house itself was situated at the far end of the land on the left, a mansion built on the rock. The breathtaking view of Axel City from the mansion was spectacular, and the cool breeze and silent night, were good reasons to live in a place like this."Who are you?" A well-armed military man stopped the cheif car at the entrance into the compound. As usual, the chief showed them his licence, but it did not stop the military man from asking further questions."Why are you here?" He asked."I'd wish to see Mrs Amy Slytherin, please." The chief replied."By 10 pm?" The military man asked with a raised brow that could be seen under the street lights."It's very urgent, and I believe it's something she would love to hear." The chief replied with a smile, but the military man wasn't convinced."You will have to return tomorrow sir, she is asleep and must not be disturbed. Do you have an appointment with her?" He inquired."None, I do not need an appointment to tell her that we found her long-lost son." The chief emphasised the last three words to make the military man curious."Excuse me?" He asked."Her son in the car with me," replied the chief as he signalled Oscar to come closer so the man could see him."I'm afraid I don't believe you, sir. If their son was found, our team would have received a call from the head station, and we would have sent a plane to pick up the young master... " While the military man was still speaking, the chief collected the papers from the cop in the front seat and handed them over to him."What is this?" Asked the military man as he took the paper."Read it," the chief uttered with a smile. After reading the first few lines, the military man's jaws dropped, and he looked at Oscar and back to the paper with excitement."It's truly you, sir!" He exclaimed, and Oscar could only smile."What has the chief done this time?" He wondered."Mrs Amy will be very glad to hear such news. After our boss's disappearance, she has been depressed and refused to have any company. This will surely lighten up her mood. Please come in."The man pressed a button on a device in his hand, which automatically opened the gate to let them drive into the compound.Once inside, Oscar could not believe his eyes. The mansion was a hundred times more beautiful than he had seen from afar."Wow," He mumbled."Wow indeed," the chief uttered with a smile. The car was parked and they alighted. The military men ushered them into the house. Since it was late at night, he couldn't have them waiting outside, especially the one who he believed was their young master."Please, sit down," he said. The living room was large, with a comfortable white fury sofa, a glass centre table and large high-resolution television in front of a white aesthetic frame. To welcome them, a few maids brought some water and cold juice and asked if they needed anything else.Oscar felt a bit uncomfortable with how he was being treated. He was also nervous about the outcome of this meeting. He took a deep breath and gulped down the glass of water that was placed before him."Do you want anything else, sir?" The maid asked him, and he shook his head from side to side. The military man came downstairs in no time, and his presence startled Oscar for a second. He was expecting to see Amy Slytherin behind him, but she wasn't, and this amplified his anxiety. He could almost hear his heartbeat from outside, and if not for the air conditioner, he probably would have been sweating all over now."Mr Oscar?" The military man called his name, and he quickly looked up, trying his best to overcome his anxiety."Yes?" He replied."Mrs Slytherin, I would love to see you now. I haven't said anything to her. I only handed the papers to her and told her someone wanted to see her urgently. I'm very sure she will get the idea after reading through the paper, so please come with me."With a sigh, Oscar stood to his feet, he stole a glance at the chief and the officers who had come along with him."Mr Oscar?" The military man called his attention, and Oscar realized that he had just been standing there without moving an inch."I understand that this is very...uhm... overwhelming, but don't worry, this is your home. There's no need to be nervous, sir." The military man tried to reassure him with a smile before leading Oscar to the staircase. They got up the stairs, and the military man knocked on the door,"Come in," Amy's voice replied from the other side and Oscar's heart skipped a beat. This was it, the moment of truth. He was about to meet someone who could be his real mother, or it could be a moment of embarrassment. Either way, he was scared. His hand shook slightly as he grabbed the doorknob. After a few seconds of silence, he mustered the courage to open the door and walk in.With his heart racing, Oscar walked into the biggest bedroom he had ever seen, so spacious yet so beautiful. And by the edge of the bed in front of him, a woman was seated, it was none other than Amy Slytherin. She looked quite young for her age, so beautiful and elegant that no one would assume she'd have a twenty-six-year-old son, her dark hair rested on her shoulder, while her eyes were already covered in tears."Frederick," she mumbled and stood to her feet. She looked away from the paper and let the tears drop from her eyes. She closed the distance between them, and looked into Oscar's eyes."I thought I lost you for good," she cried, her body shaking slightly as she was overwhelmed by the unexpected news."A mother needs no tests to tell who her son is," she added and drew Oscar in for a hug.She sobbed in his arms, the true reaction of a mother who had just reunited with her son. These tears of joy could not be contained, and she could only hold back from screaming on top of h
Inside the room, Oscar stood in awe, the sight of what now belonged to him was spectacular, no one would reject a life like this, and Mrs Amy did not even give him a chance to say no."I'm adopting you today," He recalled what she had said and smiled. He tried to recall if he had any memory of his mother. He closed his eyes and tried to picture what she must have looked like but he couldn't remember anything beyond Pere's house."Hmm," He said and sat down by the edge of the bed, he took out his phone and searched for the Slytherin's long-lost son again, and once again those images were shown. He read through the article again, and a few assumptions from the detective who had been on the case, all while trying to figure out if any of them matched something he could remember, but none.He was just trying so hard to see if he truly belonged here, but nothing came to his mind. "I can't let the public know of this yet," He mumbled, unless he was truly their heir, he couldn't let the pub
Oscar woke up, still assuming that he was at home and not the Slytherin mansion. He couldn't recognise where he was for a few seconds, before it finally occurred to him that he had spent the night at the Slytherin mansion. He sighed and got off the bed immediately. He stared at his phone to check the time, and it was past seven a.m. and also read the response to the voicemail he sent to Karen last night.Karen had asked for a few documents to file for the divorce, and he proceeded to send all soft copies to her before walking into the bathroom to freshen up.This has been his daily routine for the past three years since he started working for the company that fired him. He saw three new toothbrushes and cleaned his teeth with one of them before proceeding to take a bath.He had only just gotten out of the bathroom when he heard a knock on the door."I'm coming," He said, and forgetting that he had nothing but a towel around his waist, Oscar unlocked the door to let in a maid who brou
"I was," He replied with a sigh, if only Ellen had stayed back with him, she would partake in the luxury of his current life."You had a family, with a child?" Amy asked, leaving the door and walking back to where he was seated. "No, I don't have a child yet, she left me recently, apparently, she saw someone better, but it doesn't matter anyway." He replied, hoping his newfound mother would drop the topic, but she didn't."You loved her?" She asked and Oscar thought about it for a while, he loved her, and after she chose to be foolish, and leave with someone else, he still loved her. She was his wife after all, and the memories of the blissful two years they'd spent together were still fresh. He was upset but didn't hate her entirely, he was disappointed but did not condemn her, but one thing Oscar wasn't going to do, was get back with her. After he had torn the divorce paper, he wanted to file for another divorce to bring the union to an end.He was quite aware that if Ellen saw him
Both men were shocked to see each other, who would have thought he'd see the man he met at the bar yesterday in Axel City? Before Wades could attempt to shake hands with Oscar, the bodyguard blocked him,"Don't worry," Oscar assured the guard before they let Wades.Wades on the other hand could not believe his eyes, it made no sense that the man who he had seen, and looked incapable of paying for his drinks, was now in front of him surrounded by guards."I didn't expect to see you here," Oscar said with a smile."Neither did I," Wades retorted,"As soon as I left you yesterday, I got into the car and came to Axel City straight up. Do... do you work here?" He asked, and for a moment, Oscar was short of words, he didn't want to explain anything to anyone especially not at the moment. "I uhm... just came for a meeting, I was invited," He replied. "Are you sure? You certainly look like you own this place, if not that you had called my name, I would have sworn that you weren't the same ma
"What is going on?" Leo walked out of the elevator with a worried expression on his face, he saw Oscar's bodyguard holding down two securities to the ground, while the receptionist stood at a distance with fear written all over her face. "Call the police immediately, " she yelled at Loe, who turned to her with an expression of shock and asked, "Why?" "This man is no Slytherin," she uttered and Loe almost slapped himself across the face, none of this would have happened if he had just called her rather than sent a text that she never opened. Turning to Oscar who stood speechless behind the other two bodyguards, Leo apologized, "I'm very sorry sir, please Pardon me, I failed to properly communicate the recent information to her for an update on the executive ranking." "Huh?" Oscar raised a brow, his dramatic use of vocabulary wasn't making sense at that moment "Uhmm, how do I do this, sir this is Natasha, she is one of the receptionists, and uhm...Natasha," He called and turne
Meanwhile, at the Slytherin mansion, Amy Slytherin was having a heated argument with her brother-in-law over the current update. Aiden had gotten the news that Slytherin Empire now had a new CEO, a position that he ought to have taken in his brother's absence, and he was furious. He drove to the Slytherin mansion that morning to see Amy and hoped that the news he heard was fake, and someone was playing a trick on him. "Of course, I made him the CEO, what else do you want to know?" Amy asked Aiden with a quizzical expression, she was seated on the living room couch with an apathetic expression. Ever since her husband disappeared two months ago, she saw how eager Aiden was to take over the role of acting CEO in his absence. Before now, she always felt like Aiden was jealous of his brother's success and would do anything to take what was his. Even though Aston made him one of the senior associates, she couldn't help but feel that Aiden wanted more. If Aston doesn't trust his broth
"Mom! Mom!" Ellen called as she walked into the house, she met her father sitting on the couch with a laptop on his lap."Is everything okay?" He asked her,"Your mother has just gone to the room, it's past 2 pm and you know that she loves to take a nap by this time for absolutely no reason.""Haha," Ellen laughed,"Anyway, is Oscar around?""No, I haven't seen that one since last night, he didn't bother coming back home, as if he knew that I was going to send him packing." His father replied and Ellen chuckled."Why are you looking for him though?" He asked her."Oh, just wanted to confirm, I got these papers from Karen's assistant earlier today and you wouldn't believe what it is." She said and took it out from the brown envelope, before giving it to her father."What's this?" He asked, taking it from her."A divorce paper," she said and laughed,"I can't believe that idiot tore the divorce papers I gave to him and sent me another one today, well jokes on him, I'm willing to sign it
