CHAPTER EIGHT: Meeting The Boss

The search for the strange man started in earnest, in order to confirm his innocence. To James, they need to apprehend him and then confirm whether he's the killer with the aid of the glasses they found at the criminal scene of the second murder.

They invited the police officer who reported the visitation of the strange man to the Late commissioner of police in order to provide his description which they will use in getting his portrait.

The search for the strange man will end up futile if they don't get his portrait which they will use in fishing him out.

After getting the portrait,they made sure it was pasted throughout Raws and all the billboards to make it difficult for the strange man to abscond.

It felt as if luck was on their side as they got some intel about the businessman Max who they were looking for regarding the IVIN poison.

James with the experience he had gathered as a profiler observe that the so called perfect Killers can't be apprehended through a plan.

You need to prepare as numerous traps as possible because along the way if he escapes a trap,it will be easy to hook him with the second trap devised for the killer.

James decided to go and visit the suspected businessman and find out about the Ivin poison. He left with Alex, while Ken was to stay at the office.

After a long drive,they got to Shinard where they were told they will be able to find Max. They identified the office since they already knew Max erected it more like a house to avoid the suspicious eyes of people.

They got down and entered the building but when they got to the main door,It was already locked and so they had to knock. After consistent knock on the door, somebody opened the door but not wide enough for them to enter.

" Who are you people?" The man asked them with disdain.

" We are here to see the boss for a matter of urgency," James answered.

" Is that the answer to my question? You can't be allowed to enter without a mode of identification especially if you are here to see the boss," the man retorted angrily.

" You don't need to prove you are a rascal by getting angry without a justification for that," Alex said, also returning his remarks.

The man was shocked for he didn't expect such remark from one of them. They appeared calm and one of the reasons why he acted that way. Williams is his name and he loves the boss attitude that his real boss is enjoying and since he's not the real boss,he behaves like that to people who comes visiting.

" If you must know, I'm the person you came to visit," Williams said, calmness now in his tone.

" You mean you are Max the businessman?" Alex asked and he nodded slowly.

" I'm really sorry with the way I spoke to you earlier," Alex said with regret, while James only kept quiet observing the so called businessman.

Max and his Men do act like that especially to strange people. Max is highly discreet and mysterious so to say. His men sometimes act like him to try and confirm the situation before addressing it to him. People have never had a cause to question this since none of them is familiar with his face or can even recognize him.

Even though their contact is not really open to everybody, since the product you deliver will actually be received at your doorstep, some people have the privilege to meet him especially if the product they are trying to get is highly substantial and relevant. This Alex after weeks of trailing, confirmed and the reason they got there.

" Now, that you already know that I'm the person you're looking for, you are free to say the reason why you are here," he said in a peremptory manner.

" We actually came to.....," He was silenced by James to the surprise of Williams.

" You claim to be the boss, what is the assurance that you're the boss?" James asked after examining him critically.

" You mean you don't believe that I'm the boss?" Williams asked in amazement.

" Why will I believe someone that I know is not the boss. I have something really important I want to discuss with your boss rather than having this chitchat with you," James said.

" If you were really the boss as you claimed, you won't be the one to open this door especially when it has been confirmed that your boss is someone unknown. Someone that is avoiding people or is trying to make himself a mystery, will not be the one to open the door not to talk of exchanging words with us," James added while Williams only opened his mouth in astonishment.

" You are a wise man indeed. You are the first person to actually confront that claim," Williams said with admiration.

" Let me go in and report before you are allowed to come in," he said and closed the door back.

" I almost messed up the plan," Alex said.

" It's nothing, you actually did well because exchanging words with him gave me the opportunity to scan him properly," James said.

After a while, they were actually ushered in by Williams and told them to wait for the boss is on the way. They sat down awaiting the presence of the boss and get the information they need.

Few minutes later, they heard the footsteps of someone coming closer to them which they concluded to be the boss. They stood up in acknowledgement of the boss, but were surprised at what they were seeing.....
