"You've got to be kidding me," Kyrian growled, his frustration boiling over. "I trusted you! You were supposed to be working with him, helping him find the other subjects!"

Jasmine's expression softened, her gaze full of sympathy. "Kyrian, I'm so sorry you're going through this, but I don't know anything. I was hired to do a job, that's it."

Kyrian's shoulders slumped, the fight draining out of him. Tears welled up in his eyes, his voice cracking. "I just want to find my dad. Jasmine reached out, placing a gentle hand on Kyrian's arm. "Look, I might not know anything about your dad, but I do know this: you're not alone in this. I'm here for you. Let's try to figure this out together, okay?"

Kyrian nodded, the tears spilling over, blurring his vision. He wanted to believe her, to trust her again. But the betrayal he felt was still too raw, too fresh.
