Epic 6
Having yanked breathlessly, Nora immediately nodded her head “I'll accept the offer, Sir, when I'm I to start work, Sir?”. She let out a bit excited. “You can start today, you can go get your things ready, I'll have Ethan pick you up after work”. Peter whispered, excitedly Nora thanked him and left the car. He kept watching her as her flowered gown bounced at every step she took. Until she was out of sight. Immediately, Nathan ran into the car excitedly. “How did it go boss? Did she accept?”. Furiously Peter turned to face him. “The proposal”. He muttered seeming more excited. “What proposal? I can't believe you did this. I thought she framed it up, though I doubt if she can do that though”. Peter mumbled. “You mean she didn't accept? So why did she walk down to this place if she doesn't love you? She would have just walked away”. Ethan complained. Immediately Peter began reasoning his idea “That's true, if she doesn't love me, why did she come?”. He let out as Ethan backed up with a smile. “Exactly my point”. Ethan further added “And no one is talking about that. You know I am really disappointed with you. I mean, how could you? I told you I needed a maid and you suggested the idea of having her work for us, you volunteered to help, only to go tell her that I love her. Really?”. Peter said disappointed as Ethan looked at him shocked. “Jesus! What have I done?”. Ethan cried out after a short while of absorbing Peter's words. “How could I have known that was what you meant?! We weren't discussing that at the moment. I am so sorry, after wooing her, I just hope she filters all those lies. ”What exactly did you tell her?“. Peter let out, with anxiety written all over his face. ”Something you don't want to know Sir, I suppose we are already late, we should get going“. Ethan mumbled and immediately carried Peter's box and walked into the office. Stepping into the magnificent building, Peter's powerful presence brought stillness to the building as he majestically stepped into his office. Gazing lustfully at his files, Ethan dropped his bag and left. He soon sat down a bit confused, having his pen clicking at his teeth. “Good Morning Boss”, Rosy, one of his staff had whispered blushing as she walked in with his coffee. “Coffee?!”. She whispered awkwardly while raising the cup to get Peter's attention. “What about Nora?”. He whispered shocked. “Sir? Umm, well— Etha— umm…” “Ops, sorry, never mind. Just place it on my table and go”. He mumbled, taking in a deep breath. “Gosh”. Peter whispered, his voice barely above a whisper as he grabbed the coffee. His face a bit squeezed as he took a sip. “Too much milk”. He whispered and placed the glass cup back on the food tray, while gently pushing it away while concentrating back on his files. His eyes soon went back to the food tray and Nora's thought flashed in his head. With a gentle touch, he grabbed the mug while smiling. His mind drifted to Nora's entrance with the tray, her gentle smile and loving heart. Gently he sipped the coffee again. “Jesus Christ!”. Peter mumbled scared as the coffee poured on him at Lisa's unannounced entrance “Sorry Bae, did I scare you?”. She muttered apologetically while moving over to Peter. “Of course, you did. Who barges into someone's office that way? Now you have made me spill my coffee”. Peter let out annoyed. “Oh my goodness! I am so sorry honey. Let me have that clean—” “Never mind, I'll just go home. You don't expect me to just stay shirtless in my office”. He uttered, while gently pulling her hand away from his shirt. “Sorry baby”. She apologized. Looking at her sorry face, Peter's eye caught the food pack she was holding. “What's that?”. He whispered. “Food, I mean I noticed you left angry and hungry. I decided to prepare some breakfast and bring it over. I'm sorry babe”. She apologized while standing to drop the food pack. “It won't be necessary now, my shirt is ruined. I'll have to go home and change into a new shirt and of course a pant because this is obviously bad”. He whispered while staring at his outfit. “I'm sorry babe”. Lisa let out again. Seeing how sad she looked, Peter walked over to her. “It's okay babe. It's not your fault and I appreciate your concern to bring breakfast over to the office. That was thoughtful of you. Come here…”. With his hands opened, Lisa gently leaned in for a hug. “I love you, babe”. She let out. “I love…” “Can I come in?”. Ethan's voice interrupted Peter's speech before he gradually let go of Ethan's entrance. “Hello, Si—r”. Ethan stuttered on Lisa's sight. “Hi”. He continued with a little wave at Lisa who ignored him. “Ops”. He let out, rolling his eyes away from Lisa. “Umm… the meeting with th—” “Call off all the meetings I have this morning. My clothes got ruined with coffee. I need to be home to take a proper shower and change my outfit as well”. With that, Ethan took another glance at Lisa and left. “So?” Lisa mumbled with her hands throwing open in the air “Let's go home”. Peter whispered as he dragged Lisa out of the room. Having almost dripped down with her heels as she was being dragged, Lisa managed to find her grip. Looking weirdly as Peter paid less attention to her, Lisa angrily got into the car. “Hey, c'mon. What's the problem?”. Peter called out but she ignored him and slammed the car door. “Babe?”. Peter's gentle whisper echoed as he entered the car. Gently he massaged Lisa's fingers while staring deep into her eyes. “Do you love m—e?”. Lisa's questions hung in the air as Peter engaged in a long kiss. “You shouldn't little things worry you. You are too beautiful to have such thought cross your mind”. He whispered while giving her the last kiss on her forehead. Lisa felt a spin run through her veins as she felt the embrace of his warmth. Silently, they drove down home, with Peter taking a look at her at intervals. ~~~~~~~~~~°~~~~~~~~~ Reaching home, Peter's heart almost swept off at the sight of Nora and her daughter. She was waiting patiently with her luggage packed in a small corner of the house. “What the heck is going on here? Who is this trash?”. With anger, Lisa voiced with her eyes blinking slowly at every look she gave Nora and her daughter. “Come on, mind your language, that is Nora and her cute daughter Jessy. You shouldn't be harsh on them”. Peter whispered nicely while still having his eye fixed on Nora. “So? What is my business with them? What is she doing here?”. Still irritated, Lisa muttered with a little flap of her hair, her face filled with a disgusted expression. “You shouldn't sound that way. Why do you sound like you have had something to do with her in the past? She is our new maid. She was working in the office, but I had to plead with her to come work over here”. Peter explained. “Even at that babe. Why would she come along with her child? Eww! She is going to be a distraction”. Lisa expressed as Peter gently parked the car. “Listen to me Lisa. Jessy is a cute soul and I know you are going to love her when you get to know her”. Peter whispered sounding a bit romantic while trying to grab Lisa's fingers, but she snapped it away. “I'm not going to love her, there is nothing cute about her, just a hungry girl with her mum looking on how to extort money from people”. She let out after a short while. “I think the only one here who seems to extort something from someone is You. I mean, why are you being unnecessarily cruel to a little child that has done nothing to you? You know what? I won't sit here and watch you disrespect someone in front of me. If you are not comfortable with their presence, then you can pick up your bags and go back to Korea. Otherwise, you will just pretend to be nice and come give them a warm welcome”. Peter let out angrily and got out of the car. Stepping out of the car, Nora's expression grew with surprise as she immediately greeted him. “Sir?”. Nora mumbled. “Hello Nora. My cutie, how are you doing today Jessy?”. Peter let out calmly, and with excitement, he threw Jessy up as they started up a little play. “What about work Sir?”. Nora humbly asked while still having a confused expression. “I want to come spend time with you”. Peter let out while gazing nonstop at Nora's confused expression. “Okay! You can stop now. I had my clothes ruined with coffee, So I came back…” “Hello Ma”. With a bow, Nora greeted while interrupting Peter's speech over Lisa's presence. Having stared at Peter, Lisa pretentiously stretched her hands for a greeting. “Hi, Lisa Chung, his fiancee. We have been expecting your visit. It's good to know that you are finally here”. “I'm glad to be here as well ma'am”. With a slight bow, Nora let out. Peter stood speechless for a while as he pondered over Lisa's comment. “Dad are we going to buy some ice cream today?”. Jessy's tiny voice echoed as they all gazed at her surprised. Nora was ashamed and asked her to keep still. Immediately, Lisa hissed with annoyance and quacked Nora out of the way as she stepped into the house. “Sorry for that, Let me help you with this, I'll show you to your room”. Peter muttered nicely as he grabbed one of Nora's bags. “I hope you like it here, and yes, it will only be for a short time, thank you so much for this”. Peter whispered after he showed Nora to her room. “If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. I will be on my way out”. He added and after a little tickle at Jessy, he went over to his room. *************** Lisa's face was already fuming with anger as Peter walked in. She kept walking from one end of the room to the other. “What is wrong?”. Peter let out calmly as he watched her move up and down restlessly. “Tch, you mean to tell me that you didn't notice anything wrong with everything that went on down there?”. Peter's confusion became more evident as he tried to understand what Lisa was saying “Nothing went down there and you know it. It's obvious you don't like them and you are just looking for excu…” “Excuses?! Is that what you are about to say? That I am looking for excuses? Gosh! This is unbelievable”. Lisa whispered angry while sitting on the bed. “Okay, I'm sorry but tell me, what happened? Do you want me to send her out? Perhaps you can do the house duties yourself”. Peter muttered calmly as he tried to hold her. “Don't, don't touch me, it's more irritating, that you are making me look stupid. You want to put me in the dark while you indirectly bring your family over right?” Lisa let out with fury. “What family are you talking about?”. Peter whispered confused. “You mean to tell me you don't see the resemblance between you and the baby? Or the obvious truth when she called you Dad?! Gosh, you are so pa—te—tic”. She thundered.Epic 7 Lisa's words lingered in the air as Peter took a seat on the sofa, mulling over her accusations. "Does she actually look like me?" he whispered, his mind racing. The room fell silent as Lisa stared at Peter, who seemed lost in thought. She became more confused as she realized he was no longer listening. "Aren't you going to say anything?" she asked, her voice rising in frustration. "Isn't she your daughter?" But Peter's attention remained elsewhere, his face a mask of confusion and concern. While Peter and Lisa continued to stare into the distance, deep in thought, Nora knocked and then entered the room. Her presence immediately changed the atmosphere, causing Peter to stare at her as if he had seen a ghost. Lisa noticed and disrupted the silence with her harsh tone. "Are you going to talk or not? Why are you in my room?" she demanded, her eyes blazing with anger. Nora felt uncomfortable under Lisa's intense gaze. She apologized meekly, "Sorry, ma'am." "I don't need your
Epic 8 Coming back from work, the scent of Nora's cooking tantalized Peter's senses as he stood at the door, inhaling deeply and letting the delicious aroma fill his nostrils. With his eyes closed in bliss, he suddenly felt a tiny hand grasp his leg, only to open his eyes to see Jessy smiling up at him. "Welcome, Daddy!" she exclaimed, her face beaming with joy. Peter bent down and scooped her up onto his shoulders, cuddling her close. "Hello, my princess. Did you miss Daddy?" he teased playfully, eliciting a nod from Jessy. “I miss Daddy so-so much”. She let out in her tiny voice “Where is mummy?”. Peter mumbled “In the kitchen, she is preparing dinner”. Jessy let out. “How about we go pay her a visit, promise to be quite okay?”. Peter mumbled and immediately Jessy obeyed with a gentle smile. mesmerized by the sight of Nora diligently cooking in the pristine kitchen. He took in the neat rows of utensils, the spotless countertops, and the air filled with the tantalizing arom
Epic 9 Nora immediately apologized and went ahead to clean up the floor. Peter stood speechless while trying to comprehend what had happened. “Silly, such a bunch of nuisance! Arrant nonsense”. Lisa muttered annoyed, while flapping her dress and angrily left the dining. “Sorry for that”. Peter whispered while dusting Nora's clothes. “It's fine sir, I'll manage. Besides, I'm the wrong one here”. Nora's voice was inaudible and scarcely voiced. “Are you—” “Mummy don't cry, I'm sorry”. Jessy whispered in her tiny voice, interrupting Peter, while almost crying as she tried to reach for her mother's face. “I'm not crying sweetie, mummy is fine. Just go to your room okay?”. With pretence, Nora cleaned her eyes while luring Jessy into their room. Returning to the dining, Peter was still standing there. There was a little silence as they both gazed at each other. “I'm sorry”. Peter whispered while grabbing Nora's hand. “It's fine, like I said, it's my fault as well”. Nora whispered as
Epic 10 “Daddy?”. Jessy's tiny voice echoed amid the chaos. “Well, of course. Daddy huh?!”. Lisa muttered annoyed and angrily left the room. “What is wrong with Aunty?”. Jessy innocently asked as he tapped Peter on his trousers. “Don't worry okay, Aunty is a little upset”. He let out and lifted Jessy to his shoulders. Unto the balcony, he observed as Lisa sat under the coconut tree close to their swimming pool. “I love my daddy”. Lisa interrupted with her tiny voice as Peter placed a kiss on her forehead. "Hey, Jessy. Can you tell me about your daddy?" Peter asked, seating the little girl on a nearby desk. "My mummy said I shouldn't tell anybody about my daddy," Jessy said, a look of innocence on her face. "Well, you can tell me," Peter reassured her. "I'm not just anybody, and I won't tell your mom, so it's our secret." Jessy's face brightened. "Okay, you're my daddy," she declared, her tiny fingers gripping Peter's chin. "My daddy is in heaven. Mummy said he went to get me
Epic 11 Having innocently walked back to his room, Peter kept searching for Nora with his eyes. “Haven't heard Jessy's voice”. He mumbled after a short while. “Jessy, ow Jessy”. Lisa whispered, rubbing her hands all over Peter. “Perhaps she has slept off”. She whispered while standing up from the beg. With her revealing nightie, she purposely dropped her perfume and in an attempt to pick it up, she bent towards Peter. “That's too revealing. Jessy might see you”. Peter said with annoyance as Lisa hissed and went to keep herself company in her mirror. "You're joking, right?" Lisa scoffed, giving Peter an incredulous look. "Jessy's not even here." She rolled her eyes, exasperated by his insistence. As she stood up from the bed, her revealing nightie left little to the imagination, and Peter couldn't help but feel a twinge of attraction despite his annoyance. “Babe”. Peter mumbled in a low tone as he sat up on the bed, but Lisa just rolled her eyes on him. “Any problem?”. She had
Epic 12 Getting to the subway, Peter's heart dropped with tears as he saw no signs of them. “They are not here”. He whispered bittered. “How about we check other subways?”. Lisa suggested and after glaring at her, Peter started up his car again, and that was how they ended up going to all the subways in town, yet no trace of Nora. “Gosh!”. Peter yelled pained and eventually drove back home. The few days spent with Peter were like a living hell for Lisa. It was more of “If Nora was here… If Jessy was here…”. Peter kept comparing every little thing she did with them. ******** It was already one week since the disappearance of Nora and Jessy, yet Peter couldn't get over them. “I'll be out to have a few drinks, don't wait up” he had whispered to Lisa before grabbing his car key to leave. Same place, same spot, same club, Peter sat quietly as he observed the environment. He didn't want what happened the last time to repeat, so he chose not to drink. “Here is your drink Sir”. A fami
Epic 13 Peter reached the club, smoke had covered the room. His eyes welled up in pain as he searched for Nora and Jessy. “Nora! Jessy!”. Peter yelled in pain as he searched for them, the fire service team had already surrounded the building and saved as many people as they could. The heat from the flames grew more intense as Peter forged deeper into the club, even with the restriction from the fire service workers. Bodies rushed past him, some crying out in fear, others helping others out of the inferno. In the chaos, Peter spotted a small figure huddled against the wall, coughing and gasping for air. It was Jessy, her face streaked with soot and tears. "Jessy!" Peter cried, rushing to her side. He scooped her up in his arms, holding her tight against his chest. "Are you okay? Where's Nora?" As Peter held Jessy close, his heart hammered against his chest. She was safe, but where was Nora? He frantically scanned the room, his eyes burning from the smoke. "We need to find your mom," h
Epic 14 Just as Peter opened his eyes, he caught note of the glittering silver shoe. Then he looked up to find Lisa smiling at him. “Hello babe”. She whispered as Peter gazed at her, shocked. “Lisa?”. He whispered in disbelief as Lisa shook her head. “Yes babe”. She let out with excitement while smiling at Peter. “Don't give me that look okay, we should proceed with the test and transfusion already. If she is having internal bleeding, then I don't see the need for the delay”. Lisa let out as the doctors seconded her immediately. “Don't worry sweetheart. She is my subject as well”. Lisa added before following the nurses to enter the nurse's room, where her sample was collected. “How is she?" Peter asked as Lisa approached him, her steps faltering slightly. Lisa let out a shaky breath, her hands clenched at her sides. "The doctors say the transfusion went well. Her condition is still critical, but they're hopeful that with rest and continued treatment, she'll pull through." Pete
