Daniel's POV

The house was a graveyard when I stepped in. The kitchen light was switched on though. Probably Jenny cleaning the dishes, I thought, walking in.

She was there alright, not cleaning dishes though but eating slices of apple.

"Good evening, Daniel. How were work activities?" she asked, avoiding my gaze.

"It was great, thank you. Why are you still up? It's past 11 already."

"I was hungry. Didn't eat much for lunch."

"Oh…Alright, I will be going to bed now. You should try to get some sleep too"

" Wait, aren't you hungry? I could do some toasted bread for you."

"No, I'm okay. I ate some pancakes at the office and it was a lot. Thank you though"

" Alright, that's okay. Good night, " she replied, dropping the remaining slices in the trash bin.

"Good night too, I said, walking away.

That was strange. She didn't even start all that annoying conversations aligned with her. Maybe, she was finally losing interest or planning something stupid
