Elijah walked towards the elevator, grinning as each step brought him closer to the elevator. He entered the lift and clicked on the button that would take him to the last floor. Before the elevator doors closed, he raised his head to look at Fred, who was watching his every move. He looked like he was about to explode, and Elijah burst into the laughter he had been trying so hard to keep inside.

The receptionist's words had stopped him from pouncing on Fred and venting his anger. He liked how Fred had been reduced to something small in front of him. Elijah was glad that he had texted Mr Lewis in the car to inform him of his arrival. He had not planned to do it, but he was grateful that he did. That move was the only reason why the business tycoon had expressly asked of him.

The elevator stopped and the doors opened. Elijah got out and was greeted by a lady who then instructed him to follow her. They walked down a hallway for a few seconds before she came to a stop in front of a larg

Fred's cheeks drained of color as Lewis spoke. His gaze shifted from Lewis to Elijah, a thousand times in a matter of seconds. His eyes were wide open and bulging out, a vein rapidly pumping on his forehead, his mouth was gaped open, and confusion flashed in his eyes. Elijah wanted to feel sorry for him but no emotion came out to play. It was clear as day that Fred genuinely wanted the land.Instead of pity, an arrogant smirk spread across his lips as he watched Fred tug at his tie as if he were in a choking grip. Elijah observed him and he realized that this was just another way he could hurt these betrayers, by taking what they desired one by one. Lewis headed towards the building's entrance in a hurry to leave, but not before patting a pained-looking Fred on the back three times. After the final tap, Fred grabbed Lewis' hand and spoke hastily. "This has to be a mistake. I have been trying to get that land for a year now. Look, I know that that piece of land has been wanted by many

"Are you blind or something?" Elijah's head was bent low, his eyes checking where his phone might have fallen. At the sound of his assailant's voice, his brows furrowed in confusion. The feeling of recognition flowed through him as he immediately placed where he had heard such a deep voice. The same voice that had spoken to him laced with irritation and disdain for three years. Elijah raised his head to face the owner of the voice who had run into him and still dared to yell at him. In a few seconds, his eyes met Mark's, and what he saw baffled him. Elijah expected to see awe or shock in Mark's eyes given that they had just met after three years of working under him, but what he saw was recognition and anger directed towards him. They continued to stare at each other, as tension zapped in the air, nobody uttered a word or made a move, then it dawned on him that the hit had been intentional. Mark had likely seen him when he walked in and had purposely bumped into him. "You dimwit. Ar

She sighed with relief as she rested her hand on her chest.Elijah, who had been staring at the guards as they hurled Mark out of the building, turned to face her and said, "I'm sorry you had to go through that." "It's alright, let's go to your table.""No really, I'm genuinely sorry. I honestly wished I had gotten to him before he laid his hands on you.""It's honestly fine sir." Vicky replied, her voice sounding airy, as her tone dropped to a lighter note, "I can see that you come fully loaded with trouble, everyone has their demons that rear their ugly head once in a while, hurting the people close to them, so it's really okay. Can we go to your table now?" Elijah nodded as she spoke. He was grateful for her. Any other person would have walked out, taking him back to square one of finding a loyal vice president. They both walked to a table that was in a way separated from the rest of the tables in the restaurant. It was set u

Elijah's eyes were glued to the screen of the large television in his hotel room when he noticed Mia coming towards him in nothing but black lacy underwear, clutching an apple in her hand. When she got in front of him, she knelt, put the apple in her mouth, and held it in place with her teeth, before raising her hands over her head, gathering her hair, and packing it in a scrunchie. Elijah's body tingled with anticipation of what was to follow, given Mia's position and how she stared at him like she wanted to devour him. They had both stayed in the hotel room for a week. Although Mia had been going to work from the hotel, and he had given her more than enough money to buy whatever she needed to avoid having to go back and forth between her home and the hotel. He never took his women home, and he did not have the intention to start anytime soon, even though Mia was a good fuck. She looked innocent but her body and mind were anything but innocent. The sex was amazing and Elijah was wi

Elijah's body lost all of the excitement that had been coursing through it before Cora's unexpected call. He understood immediately that Cora wasn't talking about his own home, she was talking about Connecticut, and he knew because her tone sounded too serious. He slightly pushed Mia away from him and pulled up his joggers. His phone was wedged between his ear and shoulders as he rose from the chair and causally apologized to Mia, who was sitting on the rug, staring right back at him. He walked a few steps away from her, towards the window, and switched the phone's position to his other ear. "What's going on?" "Clara says we need to have a family meeting." "That witch is the reason you called me. You should know better Cora." "Grandpa is in support of it. He refuses to tell me what is going on. I was shocked when he told me to inform you, given how close you two are." Elijah smiled. He knew what Lucas had done. Yes, they were close as thieves, but when it came to Cora, Elijah wou

Elijah's eyes widened when he saw the person standing in front of his car. He was angry with himself for not paying attention to the road, which could have resulted in an accident, and at the elderly woman for not looking at the road before walking in front of a moving vehicle. The woman stood to her side, her face clouded with fear, staring at the man who was yelling at her and pointing behind him. Elijah stepped out of the car cautiously, observing how the display had already captured people's attention. The man and the woman were so engrossed in whatever was going on with them that they hadn't even noticed that he had almost run her over. He hesitated at the car door for a moment, trying to hear what the young man yelling was saying, and managed to catch a few phrases. "Are you blind or something? Do you have any idea how expensive that jacket is?" "I'm sorry sir. It was a mistake." "A bloody mistake at that" The man shouted, lifting his hand to hit the woman. Elijah saw this a

"That's for me to know and for you to not worry yourself over. Just get in the car" Elijah replied. The woman complied and entered the car, watching Elijah close the door and walk past the front of the vehicle, heading to the driver's seat. Elijah opened the door, climbed in, wore his seat belt, and asked the woman, "What's your name?" "Diane." The woman answered. “Okay, I’m taking you somewhere to eat. Is that okay?” Elijah asked. After the woman nodded in response to his question, he returned his focus to the steering wheel, started the car, and drove away. Elijah had heard when the rude man complained of Diane spilling her food on him, so he changed his plans of going to the office and drove them to his restaurant instead. When they arrived at EM Restaurant, Elijah got out of the car and helped Diane out, and the both of them walked into the restaurant, with Elijah heading straight to his usual spot. After attempting to swallow a few bites of his lunch, Elijah gave up and decided to head over to the office. He took out his wallet from his pocket, and placed a couple of bills on the table without counting them, then slipped his fingers into his wallet, and pulled out some more bills, sliding them over to Diane. He stood up from the chair and met Diane's face which carried a confused expression."I'm sorry Diane, but I have to leave right now. I paid for the food, and that's some extra change for you. Until we meet again." “Thank you so much for this,” Diane replied, reaching out to take his hand and holding it in hers. “I meant what I said earlier, I might not have the connections or anything at all that a wealthy man like you would need, but I promise you that whatever you need that is within my power to give, I will offer it to you.”Elijah smiled and nodded his head and Diane let go of his hand. He turned away and walked out of the restaurant thinking of what she had said. ‘May

Elijah and Cora glanced at the face of the woman they had not seen since the fatherless charity function. Clara, clothed in fur in this heat wave, her lips were crimson red, stood in between her sons, as usual. "You both are just staring at me like it's the first time you are using your eyes properly," Clara said. She turned to look into the glass window that Elijah had been staring through before she came in. "So what's the situation?" Elijah and Cora did not respond, the only sound that filled the silence was the shuffling feet of nurses and doctors going in and out of patient wards. "Have you both suddenly gone deaf?" Clara asked. Elijah gritted his teeth and stepped away from the glass, moving closer to Cora. "Why are you here Clara?" "The last time I checked I am still family, and that old man laying right there," Clara said, pointing at Lucas, "is still my father-in-law." "No one wants you here.""Oh, I can see that. But I am not going anywhere. Besides Lucas, I'm the secon

When the average height of ladies barely reached Elijah's shoulders, Cora's head went past it a bit. Elijah wrapped his arms around Cora and tried to calm her down, whispering sweet nothings and promises that everything would be back to normal in no time, in her ears. That was my sister and she told me to get to Connecticut, to our family hospital right this moment.""But that's not possible, you can't. Give me a moment, let me see how fast I can book a flight for you." Kira said, grabbing her laptop that was on a table, closest to her."Huh? What are you doing?" Elijah stared at Kira in confusion. "Booking a flight for you. You know, that thing that you would need to get yourself from here all the way to Connecticut." Despite feeling shocked after Cora's call, Elijah chuckled at Kira. Chapter 51

Elijah's POVAfter his dinner with Kira, Elijah locked himself in a hotel room with a redhead. One of the flings that he had set aside when he found satisfaction with Mia. They had been going at it all night and day, for two days now, and each time, Elijah had pushed away the thoughts and images of a certain woman out of his mind. He had not intended to end his dinner night with Kira in the arms of another woman, but he got restless immediately after he got back home. His body desired a particular person that they couldn't have, and so the best solution for him had been to bury himself in another woman's arms. Elijah never understood his burning need to be intimate with a woman after Bianca. He had concluded that it could be because she had denied him intimacy during the years that they were married while she was freely giving it to that older-looking man. Elijah was lying on his back, about to drift off into sleep, when he felt the light touch of a lady's hand slowly crawling up h

Kira's POVKira was driving to pick up Ian from the airport, and she was reminiscing about her dinner with Elijah two nights before. She was attracted to him in a kind of way, but being in a relationship was not a top priority for her, especially not with a man with mystery and trouble written all over. She assumed Elijah felt the same way because he would flirt with her one moment and then become serious the next. He had told her that they would devise a plan and work toward it, and she was okay with that idea as long as it destroyed Fred. She had ideas of her own, but she wanted to listen to what Elijah would come up with.Kira longed to know why Elijah was after Fred, but she doubted he would open up to her easily because she saw him as an onion with multiple layers. Kira was finally at the airport and she saw her brother standing outside, scanning the area, possibly looking for her car. She drove up in front of him, came to a halt, and rolled down the window. Elijah looked up from his table to see Kira approaching him in a black body con dress and black stilettos, her burgundy hair adding color to her outfit. As she approached, he rose from the chair and went to pull out a chair for her to sit on. "Oh wow. Thank you. You are quite the gentleman." Kira stated this while gushing at him, her hand on her chest. Elijah chuckled because he knew she was just trying to mock him. "You are five minutes late." "Just five minutes? That's not even enough payback for ignoring my calls." Kira scoffed."I thought we spoke about this." "And…? Because I'm so sweet and nice, I should not bring it up anymore?" "Okay. I apologize again." Elijah said this with his hands raised in surrender. "I'm genuinely sorry and it will not happen again.""It had better not."

Elijah's POVElijah was walking out of the apartment he had rented for Dylan. It was close to Dylan's school and more comfortable than the small space he had to share with three other boys his age. Elijah had gone to visit him and the place looked uncomfortable to live in.Dylan was supposed to meet him at the apartment, but he had called to say that he would be late because he had to meet up with his group for a project, so Elijah decided to take a quick walk around the neighborhood for a short time. Today marked the seventh time in five days that he had ignored Kira's call. He did not want to speak to her until Marcus found concrete evidence on her that he would use against her and tell her that he knew all about her plan to betray him. His guard was up, and he was not about to let those walls down anytime soon, especially not f
