Leon left the hospital in a hurry, he could not wait to get home and tell his wife about the good news of his miraculous healing. He never wanted to tell her about the tumor because he didn't want her to be worried about him, already she seemed to be displeased by everything he did, he didn't want to add his medical condition to the list.
But as Leon headed home, he figured that maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that she knew about his tumor, maybe it would make her treat him a little better. Thinking of this brought a smile to his face and he could imagine how happy she could be when he finally told her I'd the goodness of his healing.
Although he could not clearly explain what had happened, he believed in the power of the ring, he believed that since he had been healed of all the injuries from the attack and he was recovering so quickly then the brain tumor was gone too, he was happy and wanted to share the news with his wife. As he got home, he pushed open the door in that excitement but the sight of his wife made him stop in his tracks, and his excitement waned.
"Don't bother begging me, Leon," she warned and before Leon could ask what she was talking about, she tossed sheets of paper at him.
Leon bent to pick it up, they weren't just papers, they were divorce documents he looked closely at the bottom, it had already been signed by her.
"What? Divorce?" He asked in disbelief, he could not believe that his wife wanted to divorce him, especially after finding out that he was sick.
"I told you not to beg me, Leon, I am not going to change my mind, just sign the bloody papers!" She snapped at him.
Leon was stunned, he looked at her, there was no trace of humor in her eyes, she was serious, her stare cold, her tone final. "Is this about the brain tumor?" He asked, unable to believe that his wife would just up and leave him like that.
"I guess that's the last straw I needed to leave, I've had enough of your troubles, I can't add a disease to it." She replied coldly.
Leon frowned at her, looking back at the divorce papers in his hand and back to her, "And what if I told you that the tumor isn't there anymore?" He asked.
His wife snickered and said that he was lying to change her mind, "And do you think I'm so stupid to believe that you went ahead and got surgery?" She asked, glaring at him, "I don't see any bandages on your head, Leon, and even if you wanted to get surgery done, how could it be diagnosed and treated on the same day? Do you think I'm foolish enough to believe that?"
Leon sighed, he could not explain to her that the ring had mysteriously healed him and the tumor was gone. "I don't have the tumo__"
"Save your lies, Leon! I have had enough of it." She snapped and held her hand up in his face.
"All I've gotten from this marriage is disappointment and worry and stress!" She yelled, angry and frustrated.
Leon couldn't find the right words to say, his lips felt as heavy as the divorce papers felt in his hands.
"You want to do this? You want to throw away everything we have__"
"Oh please!" She retorted, "Cut the crab, there's nothing that I'm throwing away but the poverty and sickness that you obviously want to burden me with," she replied coldly.
"And I have told you that I'm no longer sick!" He insisted but she just rolled her eyes, "What if I told you that I don't have the tumor, would you still divorce me?" He asked.
"Yes! Bloody yes!" She snapped and got even closer to him, baring her teeth at him as she spoke, "I am sick and tired of your useless life, first you can't even take care of this family, you are poor and you have made me live in that pathetic situation with you." She snapped.
"I try my best for this family and you know it, I had a job and__"
"Had! Did you hear yourself?" She asked and then laughed at him, "That right, you had a job and now it's gone, you are going to be poor and wretched, where will you get money from to get medical help for the tumor? Huh?! You can't even feed yourself and now you're getting sick too?" She snapped at him and shook her head, "I can't do this."
"You are talking like I chose to be sick like it's my fault I ha_"
"I don't bloody care whose fault it is, I know you don't have the money to take care of me and you talk more of coming up with enough money for the surgery, you're going to die in poverty and I refuse to be there when that happens!" She said as she yanked at the papers in his hands aggressively, "You better sign these! I won't be a part of your miserable life, Leon, like it or not, I'm leaving." His wife said firmly.
Leon looked at her face again, it was clear that she'd made up her mind, "I will make sure you don't spend a dime of my money on that stupid treatment, sign the divorce papers, I don't have time for this nonsense, I can't keep living in misery just to please you." She snapped.
Leon looked at her, he was disgusted at her behavior, he could not believe that she was the woman he'd married, the one he'd promised to spend forever with, leaving him because she believed he had a brain tumor.
"Fine, if this is truly what you want," Leon said calmly and signed the divorce papers without any hesitation.
Sylvia returned to the hospital room a few minutes after Leon had left, she met her uncle and asked him where he was. "The young man had left, he..." But before her uncle could finish the statement, she frowned, her beautiful face crumpled into an ugly expression. "What do you mean left? He was right here, I just went to grab him something to eat," She said, her tone high. "I thought you said that you've just met him a few hours ago, why are you so concerned about his whereabouts?" Smith asked, his time casual and this only made Sylvia even more annoyed. "It doesn't matter! He saved my life and I want to personally thank him," she replied."Listen, I've thanked him enough, if you want us to offer him some money then that can be arranged, you don't have to bother about meeting with him again," he said to her, hoping that she'd forget about it. Sylvia frowned, "This isn't about the money, uncle, I have to see him, he was hurt all because of me, the least I can do is tell him how gra
As Leon tossed the car door far away, the woman hurriedly went to her child in the back seat, she pulled her out and cradled her in her arms. The car was going up in smoke, and Leon could tell that it would be firing up soon, "It's dangerous to be this close to the car, I think it's going to explode," he warned the woman and then led both mother and daughter away from the car which was slowly going up in flames. A good distance away from the car and the crowd that began to gather at the scene, Leon could see the mother shaking the girl, trying to resuscitate her. "She's not responding, she isn't waking up!" The woman cried helplessly as she tried everything but the girl remained limp in her arms. The woman was helpless, she could not bear to lose her daughter, she shook her and cried out, tears pouring down her face helplessly. Leon moved to her, he felt pity for her, and her hopeless weeping tore at his heart. "She isn't waking?" He asked, it was a pointless question but he didn't
Shortly after the girl woke up and Leon's powers were fully restored, the ambulance that one of the onlookers had called arrived, it was time for her to take the girl to the hospital. The woman got up from the floor and hurried to the ambulance to hand her daughter over to the paramedics, then she returned to thank Leon again, this time, she held his hands firmly. "My name is Louisa, I want to thank you for saving my daughter's life, I'm in your debt," she said, holding onto his hands. Through her touch, Leon's deity power came alive and he began to see what was wrong with her, the healing gift was able to sense that there was an abnormality in her blood, there was an alien substance that was messing with her system, the power of the Apollo ring showed him that she was under the influence of drugs. Leon was confused at first, he wondered why she had the strange substance in her bloodstream, but then it all made sense, she had been drugged but someone and that was why she had the acc
On arriving at the hospital, Louisa was panicked, she looked at her daughter as she was being rushed in the stretcher into the emergency room, her condition even more critical. She was pacing frantically when a doctor came out from the emergency room and she hurried to him, "Please, save my daughter's life, I am willing to give anything to make sure that she's better," she pleaded desperately. The doctor looked at her and said, "Her condition is very bad, her heart is barely powerful enough to keep all her organs intact, she will need a transplant immediately if she is to pull through," he warned. Louisa nodded eagerly, "I am willing to give anything, I was even heading to the hospital for her heart surgery before the accident happened and worsened her condition, is there anything that can be done? I don't want to lose my daughter," The doctor nodded and said that there was an available donor and that the heart transplant could be undergone quickly. "Yes, let's get it done, I am w
Leon watched as the woman's face fell in fright. What would happen to her daughter now that she had no money to offset the hospital bills?"But...you have to help my daughter, she doesn't have much time, she needs the surgery, I beg of you, doctor," she pleaded. The doctor sneered at her and warned her to not make a scene or he'd have the security men throw her out. "We will need money for the surgery, ma'am, if you can't give it then you'll have to take your daughter elsewhere," the doctor said rudely. Fiona turned to look at her cousin who still stood by the door, his hands crossed over his chest and a smirk on his face. "Please, you can have whatever you want, but please just give me some money to save my daughter's life," Fiona begged but he didn't budge, instead of the pity she expected, he simply laughed at her. "She was never yours, she's not part of the family and she doesn't deserve anything from me," he spat. The doctor was about to walk away and order that the little
Leon left the hospital that day, promising to contact Fiona again and make sure the little girl was okay. Fiona feels heavily indebted to him and tells him that he can back out so he doesn't go to prison but Leon is insistent, he wants to help her and her daughter. Although Leon is worried about the hospital loan, his most pressing need is how to get accommodation for the night since he can't return home to his wife after the divorce. He arrived at a little bed and breakfast in the town but he has no money to pay for the night. Leon tries to strike a deal with them that he'll pay the next day when he's made some money but the receptionist isn't so kind. "We don't need poor folks like you here, pay up or get the hell out before I let the security do it!" The man snapped at him, his bulging eyes opened even wider.Leon hissed at him, but he knew he couldn't refuse, after all, the bed and breakfast wasn't a charity organization, and he had to pay. "Okay, I guess I'll come back when I
The next day, Leon woke to the smell of fresh coffee and some muffins as he opened his eyes. There was a knock on the door and he asked the person to come on. One of the chefs asked him if he was ready to come down from breakfast or if he'd rather have it in his room. Leon was famished and asked that the breakfast be brought into his room. He could see the espresso and fresh muffins and his mouth watered. "Is there anything else you need, sir?" The man asked and Leon shook his head. He hurried over his breakfast and quickly put on the fresh t-shirt and jeans that he'd been provided with. He had to leave soon, he had to make $600,000 by some miracle before two weeks and a day was already wasted. Outside the B&B, he saw the receptionist talking with a fat man at the entrance. Immediately the receptionist saw him, he smiled widely and asked him to come. "Let me introduce you to the owner of this place, I spoke to him about you last night and he'd be thrilled to have you work for us a
The next day arrived fast. Leon arrived at the clinic rather early, he'd wasted a little time on the train ride because he had to heal a woman with acute arthritis and then another boy who had flu. The power of the ring was seemingly leading him to where people needed help. He looked at his pocket and realized that he'd spent all the money given to him by the doctor the previous day on accommodation for the night and then bought some food for himself and a certain homeless man. But he was hopeful, now that he was in the clinic, he was sure they'd make a lot of money and if he did well then he could ask his boss for a loan to settle the hospital and then work the loan off. It was as if his life was quickly making sense. He was using his newfound powers to make a change and he was going to make some money to have a better life too. Happy and expectant of a better life, he walked into the small clinic that morning and noticed that the nurse seemed a little cold. "You'll have
