CHAPTER SEVEN

Sylvia returned to the hospital room a few minutes after Leon had left, she met her uncle and asked him where he was. "The young man had left, he..." But before her uncle could finish the statement, she frowned, her beautiful face crumpled into an ugly expression.

"What do you mean left? He was right here, I just went to grab him something to eat,"  She said, her tone high.

"I thought you said that you've just met him a few hours ago, why are you so concerned about his whereabouts?" Smith asked, his time casual and this only made Sylvia even more annoyed. "It doesn't matter! He saved my life and I want to personally thank him," she replied.

"Listen, I've thanked him enough, if you want us to offer him some money then that can be arranged, you don't have to bother about meeting with him again," he said to her, hoping that she'd forget about it.

Sylvia frowned, "This isn't about the money, uncle, I have to see him, he was hurt all because of me, the least I can do is tell him how grateful I am.” Smith did not want her to meet Leon again, he didn't want his niece to be caught in the web of his complicated life, especially when he'd clearly said he had a wife.

"Well, I can help you find him, I don't know exactly where he went though, but he did mention something about going to see his wife," he said.

Sylvia's eyes widened before she could control her own emotions, "Did you say, wife?" She asked and Smith nodded, happy that she'd quickly taken note of that. At the mention of a 'wife', Sylvia frowned, her mood suddenly dampened and she couldn't even explain why.

"Are you sure he said he was going to meet his wife?" She asked and her uncle nodded.

"I'm sure it's been a really sad occurrence for him, he wants to be with his family, I'm sure that's why he left at once," he explained calmly, he could see how affected Sylvia was and was hoping he could get her to change her mind about seeing him. Sylvia could not even tell why her mood had dampened, she was surprised to find out that he was married, but she decided that it wouldn't stop her from wanting to see him.

But suddenly, in her usual stubborn nature, she shook her head and said that she wanted to see him nonetheless. Smith was speechless, it seemed that she'd made up her mind, speechless, he nodded, "Fine, Sylvia, we will find him."

Meanwhile, Leon was still out on the street later that day, he was roaming around, dejected, and hopeless. He had nowhere to go. His divorce from his wife also meant that he was out of their home. Leon looked up at the sky, questioning his ill luck for the past few days. First, he had the scan that changed his life, then he just lost his job and his inconsiderate boss was certainly not taking him back, then he'd run into trouble for saving a total stranger and just when his wife had called and he thought that everything was back to normal, he was now officially divorced, his whole life was crashing down right before his eyes.

In his thoughts, he wondered if life would have been any different if he didn't have the tumor in the first place, maybe then his boss wouldn't have fired him and then he wouldn't have had the courage to save the beautiful girl. Maybe, just maybe, all that had transpired that day wouldn't have happened. But it was all maybe, the reality was that he was homeless and he had no idea where he was going to sleep that night.

There was no way he was going back home, he couldn't face his wife, he could not bear to see her when she had outrightly rejected him and sent him out of their home, it was obvious that she wanted nothing to do with him anymore.

Her voice echoed in his head, he knew that he'd been struggling with life since they got married, but he'd been doing his best, he never knew the depth of her dissatisfaction with him until that evening, when she'd poured it all out, telling him how much of a failure he was and why she wanted to leave him for good.

As he was walking, deep in thought yet acutely aware of his surroundings, he saw a car drive at him at top speed, it had lost control and was swerving right towards him.

Leon jumped out of the way just in time, missing the car by just a few inches, he rolled over and stood up on the sidewalk. The car rammed into the streetlight, the force nearly knocking it out of the asphalt road.

Leon was upset, he wondered who was driving and why they would be so careless and lose control of the car, nearly knocking him down. Immediately, a young woman came out from the car, she looked disoriented, her hair a mess and her clothes stained with blood. She was clearly bleeding and she acted hysterically.

"Who can help my daughter!" She cried out into the streets, limping.

Leon was moved by the sight of her and immediately rushed to see what he could do to help. As he got to the car, he could see a little girl in the backseat, unconscious. "Please, help my daughter, please, I came get her out!" The mother yelled helplessly.

Leon looked through the glass, he noticed that the young girl was unmoving and he knew that he had to help her immediately, or else it would be critical.

He yanked at the door but it didn't budge. "It's locked?" He asked, the woman nodded, "I think that it's stuck, please! Help me, she's unconscious!" She yelled frantically. Leon withdrew from the car and tried to open the door again, but it wasn't moving. "Give me a hand here, hurry, we have to get her out." He said and the woman stood beside him together they pulled at the door, but it still didn't budge.

Suddenly, Leon felt a lot of power within him, he was strengthened by the Apollo ring, and he could feel his muscles tense and strength engulfed him.

He felt so much power within him that he was vibrating from within. He could tell that it wasn't his strength, it had to be the power of the mysterious ring.

"Arggggghhhh!" He bellowed, his tone animalistic, echoing through the streets. The woman watched in awe as he yanked the door down.
