CHAPTER 38

“Myles! Run away!” Justin screamed. He had seen enough betrayals to know that Verella was probably going to sell Myles away for her own benefit. Even though shouting like this was going to put him at risk, he still ended up warning Myles anyway.

“What a nuisance,” Amir flicked his fingers and sent a wooden bullet flying at Justin. Before it struck his forehead, Myles caught it.

Justin couldn’t even see Myles coming, but his eyes teared up seeing Myles save him once again.

Myles looked at Verella with a disappointed expression because she was going to let Justin die. She might also let him die.

“Myles…” Verella said aloud. “Are you going to surrender yourself to him if I ask you to?”

“I won’t,” Myles responded without hesitating. “A master needs to act in the wellbeing of his slave, in the same way a slave must act in the wellbeing of his master. Otherwise, the master-slave game is all null and void.”

“That’s not the master-slave definition in my dictionary, though,” Verella grinned. “
