Leader's Arrival

"What have you done, brat?" snapped Mr. Neuman after managing to slap Carver as the man casually entered his office, not looking guilty at all. "I trusted you to conquer that company, not throw a tantrum to anger them! Tell me, why did you mention it? What are you doing, huh?"

"Father!"

"Shut up! I didn't ask you to speak!" shouted Mr. Neuman, getting even angrier.

The next second, he delivered a punch to Carver's stomach, making the man bend over with a spontaneous cry of pain in the air. "Because of you, the company's stock has gone down. Stupid! You're a complete idiot, Carver! Not only did you not get to work with them, you brought misery to the company. If the others find out about this, you will be beaten up, and I won't interfere. You have to take responsibility for what you've done!"

Suddenly, Carver looked up. "Father."

But Mr. Neuman turned the other way and exhaled harshly, not wanting to speak anymore.

"Father, you must believe me. I'm innocent. They-"

"Innocent?" Unfortunately, Carver didn't seem to understand the situation and continued to pour oil on the fire. The man looked back at Carver and pointed at his face. "Innocent, you say? Bastard!"

Another punch was thrown. This time, it was followed by a kick that made Carver fall to his knees.

"If you're not at fault, then who is? They wouldn't have done that if you hadn't messed up! Damn you, Carver! If you didn't have the ability, you shouldn't have tried in the first place. You convinced everyone so confidently. But what's the proof? You destroyed it! Even if you get kicked out later, I won't beg for you. You deserve it!" Mr. Neuman was passionate. Sometimes, his tone of voice would be high with anger, and sometimes, it would be low with hatred. He felt he had reached his limit.

Secretary Iram, standing at the front of the room, could only fidget. He wanted to help his boss, but he didn't dare. In the end, he could only whisper silently, hoping that Carver would soon beg for mercy.

And as if connected, Carver, who was still kneeling, bowed his head even more. "I know I was wrong, Father. I'm sorry."

Mr. Carver's anger softened slightly. He looked at his youngest son with a probing gaze. "What have you done?"

"I honestly don't know what I've done either."

"You-"

"Listen to me first, please!" Before getting another tantrum, Carver quickly interrupted him. He slowly stood up and looked at Mr. Neuman with a serious face. "I really don't know what I did. Whether I didn't do it or I forgot about it, I don't know. But, when I came there, the CEO Secretary said that the cooperation I proposed was rejected because my name had been blacklisted."

Of course, this explanation sounded absurd to Mr. Neuman's ears. His forehead frowned faintly, making Carver hurry to continue, "I asked for an explanation, but she called security instead. We were dragged out roughly. If you don't believe me, you can ask Iram."

Without being called, Secretary Iram had already entered the room first. "Master, what Young Master said is the truth. Until now, I couldn't even think of why Young Master's name would be in the black book."

"But there's no way they did this for no reason," Mr. Neuman denied.

He looked at the two people in front of him and asked, "Did you do or say anything unpleasant?"

Cerver and Secretary Iram instantly fell silent.

"You did!" shouted Mr. Neuman suddenly. His finger rose to point at them in disbelief. But afterward, he turned around and rubbed his face roughly.

"Is something like that an excuse? How ridiculous," Carver muttered in annoyance, causing Secretary Iram to glare at him, warning him to keep quiet.

Secretary Aland came in hastily and said, "Sir, things are in crisis. All the potential investors have officially withdrawn. Some investors have done the same. Now, the shareholders are forcing a meeting. Meanwhile, the board has invited Grand Master Grant and others to handle the matter."

"What?" Mr. Neuman spontaneously turned to stare at Aland with wide eyes.

Carver was frozen in place. His throat suddenly felt constricted after hearing what Secretary Aland said. His body involuntarily trembled with fear. Did it all happen because of Zenith Corp's black book? But why did it get this bad?

"Shit!" Mr. Neuman felt speechless at the situation he was in.

"Sir, they'll be here any minute," Secretary Aland continued.

"Argh! That's really bad luck!" With no regard for Carver and Secretary Iram's whereabouts, Mr. Neuman strode quickly out of the room towards the meeting room.

"Mr. Carver, you'd better tidy up and come with us before the Chairman's anger grows even more," said Secretary Aland, who followed Mr. Neuman's lead.

However, Carver was still rooted to the spot. "What should I do?"

"As Secretary Aland said. You should go there immediately. This matter is very urgent, sir. Don't put yourself on the line," Secretary Iram replied.

Carver nodded in an unfocused manner. He hurriedly straightened his clothes despite his trembling hands and walked away.

What had happened to the Grant family's branch company was easily known by Celeste's family.

Although they had always been enemies and rarely got together, Mrs. Bernita was still a member of the Grant family messaging group. A lot of information was contained there, including today's incident.

Mrs. Bernita, who was about to meet her father but was refused, made her laugh loudly today. "This is called karma, hahaha! I do need help, but it seems nothing compared to them."

"Bernita, but they're your family. If something happens, you will be affected too," Mr. Celeste said over the phone. In his office, he felt uneasy. His face became tense, and bad thoughts began to roam through his brain.

Instantly, Madame Bernita's laughter disappeared. But then she smiled broadly. "No way. It's just a branch company, it won't affect the central company."

"Mom, you should sign the new contract now. The problems with the GrantBranch company could spread everywhere." Alvina, who was sitting next to Mrs. Bernita, suddenly spoke up.

"New contract? Bernita, what is Alvina talking about?" Mr. Celeste's voice was filled with confusion.
