Since it was unlike a normal wedding, Raymond promised he would come and pick Julia up in the evening. Without waiting for his family, he entered the old Audi that he had driven there and left.
Julia's eyes stayed glued to the car until it could no longer be seen while Stella rushed up to her. "Julia, are you happy now? You have finally married the man of your dreams!" She said excitedly.
"When it's your wedding night this evening, I'm sure that you both would even experience more bonding between one another," this time, her voice was reduced to a low whisper while her face flushed red as she imagined Raymond and Julia together.
While Raymond might not have any strong points, his physique was perfect, and even Stella, who had seen her fair share of top heirs and handsome men, still had to admit that a man like him was a rare catch. Unfortunately….
Although she had no idea why Julia, that was usually quick to speak and easy to read, now had a blank face, the important thing was, she had now married her off to the waste that was Raymond. If she was regretting it, it was too late!
"The dreams that you created?" Julia asked calmly after a while as her brown but clear eyes bored into Stella's scheming ones with a knowing gaze. The intensity of her gaze immediately had Stella withdraw as she looked at her anxiously.
"W…what do you mean?" She asked, her heart filling up with fear. Had Julia known all she had been doing all along? She shook her head quickly.
That was impossible. After all, if she had known, she wouldn't have agreed to marry a man like that, right?
Thinking up to that point, she nodded her head with confidence.
"It's only normal that I help you achieve anything you want. Even though you still have one year left in school, you simply need to communicate with your department and allow yourself to take one year off!"
If it were the old Julia that she knew, the one that owned the body that was in front of her, perhaps she would have agreed with her and stupidly taken a year off after Raymond died. She would be unable to resume school immediately as she would be a widow.
By the time she missed two years of school, whether she could go back to the third year was also not certain, and knowing Stella, she would already have another plan in her sleeves for then.
Unfortunately, the Julia in front of her could see through such petty schemes.
"I'll do as sister has said," Julia said with a little mockery in her tone that Stella failed to pick up on. Without another word, she walked past her and went into the waiting car.
As soon as she sat in the car, Julia closed her eyes for a quick nap. Three days ago, Julia had discovered herself on earth different from what she was used to. From building a time-travelling machine to being on another earth that seemed to be completely back in time, she was not sure what she was supposed to do to get back.
However, the first thing she had determined was that she had to leave the Brooks Family!
Although her father was rich, it was a large family and the old Julia had a very bad standing there, after all, her mother's favourite was Stella who knew how to behave like a lady and make the family proud.
Because of this, Julia had agreed to the wedding of convenience as soon as she had seen Raymond. For others, it was hard to see, perhaps, but for her, who had built several pieces of biomedical equipment with her hands, it was easy for her to see at one glance that he had less than a year to live.
As for Stella, she knew that she could eventually deal with her later on.
When they got home, Mrs Brooks was already waiting for them, "how did it go? Did she change her mind?" Her mother asked, hoping that some sense had been knocked into Julia's head at the last minute.
"Mom! There's no need to talk about Julia's marriage like that. Raymond also seems to like her and has promised to pick her up this evening for their wedding night, so we must hurry and help Julia pack up her things!"
With her carefully arranged words, Stella informed her mother that the marriage was already completed and was no longer the initial plan of going just to meet the Winston family.
More importantly, she was going to be moving in with him instead of the other way round, the family had thought!
Mrs Brooks sent a loud and fierce slap to Julia's face without any warning. "How dare you embarrass me this way? Have I not done enough for you? As my second daughter, you dared to do a shotgun wedding with some illegitimate son that has been abandoned?" Her mother scolded, raising her hand to slap her daughter again. However, before she could do anything, Mr Brooks came in.
"Stop! There's nothing wrong with her being with the man she wants, besides we are not lacking in money or power. Let her marry someone that we can at least watch over,"
His warning gaze at his wife made her relent, however, it wasn't enough to dispel her anger as she hissed in anger and stormed away from the living room.
Her father sighed in defeat as he watched his wife storm off before turning to Julia, "Don't mind your mother. Although his background isn't too good, I'll arrange for him to get a role at the company branch here so that he can start to understand things. Your father would support you, okay?"
Julia nodded and then left as soon as her dad made his way upstairs also.
When she got to her room, she sighed and then settled on the bed. Since she wasn't the same Julia, most of the things that belonged to the old Julia didn't match her tastes. The old Julia had been loud and attention-seeking, thus she had very few conservative clothes. She packed as much as she could before finally closing the small box that she intended to carry.
After that, she made plans of how she was going to deal with this new 'marriage' in her mind.. before long, she had already dozed off.

"Julia, Raymond is here already!" Stella yelled as she barged into Julia's room and startled her awake. Behind her were three other girls.
The three of them were in Stella's age group and were about two years older than Julia. After hearing that she had married the illegitimate and abandoned son of the Winston family, they were here to ridicule her.
Seeing that she had been sleeping, the four girls were stunned. How is this the way a bride should behave?
"Why are you shouting?" Julia asked coldly. Her gaze was sharp and threatening, scaring Stella and the other girls so much that they took a step back subconsciously.
"Since my husband is here, then you must know not to delay me. Step out and leave me alone to get ready," Julia said without bothering to look at them.
From her earlier stare, it took the four girls some seconds to regain their minds, but before they could talk, Stella signalled for them to step out, "let's not disturb sister as she prepares to leave with her groom,"
As soon as they stepped out, one of the girls sneered as her eyes flashed with mockery, "Does she think she married some big shot and now has the right to be commanding us? Just one of our future men would be enough to send her man crawling,"
The other two burst into laughter at her words while Stella pretended that she was uncomfortable by asking them to stop softly.
Despite being chased out, the four of them stayed in front of her room and waited until Julia dragged out the medium-sized blue travel box.
"Is this everything, or do we call the maids to come up," Stella asked as she eyed the one box suspiciously.
"Just this," Julia replied curtly and then dragged her box downstairs without waiting for her.
Since Raymond was waiting for her downstairs, the sound of her steps and the luggage made him turn. She was still in the dress from this morning. However, now, she had her hair packed up in a bun revealing her fair and slender neck.
Raymond stood up and walked up to her, taking the box from her while Julia stood beside him like an obedient student. Julia was tall for a girl. She was blessed with a pair of attractive long legs that made so many girls, including Stella, envious, yet beside Raymond. Her height looked completely normal as he still managed to tower above her.
As soon as the three cousins and her mother came down and saw Raymond, they were stunned and speechless. Was this the abandoned illegitimate son?
How could he look better than the whole family combined? In fact, he looked a lot better than all the men they had seen all their lives.
"Didn't you say he was a waste? A man like this doesn't seem like he would be a waste," one of them murmured as her eyes shined with interest the more she looked at him. Before Stella could reply, Raymond spoke up.
"Mother, father, we will be taking our leave now. We will try to visit as soon as we can," Raymond said with a small bow towards the Brooks couple.
Julia's father stood up, a small envelope in his hands, and Stella and her mother stood up immediately after they saw that.
"This is Julia's dowry. We truly hope that you treat our daughter well," Mr. Brooks said sincerely. However, as soon as he stretched the envelope, his wife snatched him from him.
"Don't you know this is all he wants? If you hand it over now, it's possible that he would not treat her well. Let me hold on to it," she reasoned, but even without her husband agreeing, she had already shoved it in her purse.
Raymond shot a glance at Julia and saw that she did not react, so he bowed softly and led her away without a word.
The car ride back to Raymond's house was quiet. Although Julia had not acted like a typical young heiress, he was certain she couldn't endure his house, yet Raymond had no intention of changing houses. After all, he would be ruining his plans by doing that.So when they got to his house, and he opened the door, he turned to her, "The house is clean, but since the marriage was on such short notice, I would only try to do some renovations tomorrow," he explained politely.Julia nodded in understanding, "I'm going to be in school often. You don't have to change things around here,"Raymond stared down at the expressionless woman right in front of him. She was totally different from the girl in his research. Could she be pretending or something? Raymond disputed the thought and stared back at Julia, whose eyes were roaming around the small old house."Let me just show you to your room”, He added.Julia nodded lightly.Raymond took her box and led the way.She reluctantly followed him. Julia had gone back to bed last night, leaving Raymond to his thoughts. As for Raymond, he felt like he had married a different woman entirely. Just who had influenced the news that his men had gathered? From what he remembered, Julia had demanded that she wanted to marry him after hearing about his good looks. But now she had demanded for a divorce? His lips curled up as he felt like his living conditions had made her change her mind.On the other hand, he was also worried about how she was able to revive him after he collapsed. She seemed confident about him being curable. Did she know the nature of his sickness, or was she just bluffing? After all, this was something that the medical specialists were not capable of doing for years. Seeing a nineteen years old lady confidently saying she could do it made him begin to wonder if she was serious or perhaps his life was some kind of joke to her. After using his meds, he was able to get some sleep, and he woke up to make breakfast for bo
The Brooks family made sure they invited all their business associates and the top men in society to grace the special day of their daughter. They made sure no one was left out. Those who gave excuses for their absence were also in attendance. They had convinced them until they gave in to their request. Everything was set for the party, but the couples were yet to arrive. It wasn't a cause for alarm for the family because they felt, the couples were preparing to arrive in a grand style. Stella had wanted to get Julian's dress, but her mother asked her to discard the idea, saying Julian would sort herself. The grand hall which was family and rented was gradually getting filled with the invited guests. Soft music rented the air as the invitees chatted over a glass of wine as they awaited the couples. Meanwhile, back at Raymond's apartment, Julian stood across the room with her gaze fixed on him. He was wearing a simple wine shirt and well-tailored black pants to go wit
When Julian excused herself, Raymond decided to stretch his legs, which were aching because he had been sitting for too long. He had nowhere in mind to go, so he decided to take a tour around the hall. He had barely walked for a minute when Stella walked up to him with the gift box. “I see you liked your present,” he said offhandedly and she nodded. “I appreciate your effort to impress your in-laws” she replied. Raymond bit his lips as he nodded slowly. If only Stella had known who he was really, she wouldn't have said that to him. “I'm glad I was able to do that,” he said as he beckoned to a waiter who was nearby. He picked up two glasses, then handed one to Stella, which she accepted. “Thank you,” she said with a smile before taking a sip of the wine. They remained in their positions without a word to each other. After a while, Stella smacked her lips to get Raymond's attention. She didn't start speaking until he had his gaze fixed on her. “Tell me, how did you
By the time they returned home, it was already late. Julia tossed Raymond's jacket on the couch, then walked across the room. Raymond considered it rude, but he didn't say a word concerning it, instead, he asked. “You're hungry?” “Yes, but I don't eat late” she replied nonchalantly then resumed her walk. After picking up his jacket, he made his way toward the kitchen. With all the ingredients in place, he was able to get a nice dinner, which he ate with relish. After washing up, he picked up his phone, which was lying across the table. He watched the video several times before tossing his phone aside again. He was convinced that the woman had a grudge against Julia, that's why she did what she did. Several seconds later, he was out of the kitchen and was heading to his room to retire for the night. Meanwhile, Julia lay on her bed as she stared at the ceiling. She was running through the event of her engagement party in her head. If not for the midwife who decided t
Raymond's receptionist began to panic when the ambulance did not arrive on time. She tried to call, but her service line was barred. Leaving the office to go and seek help was the next thing that came to her mind, but she was scared that something bad might happen to him. When she couldn't handle it anymore, she dashed out of his office, only to return moments later. “Hey” she yelled, hoping he would stir, but he was still immobile. Taking his hand, she checked his pulse for the hundredth time. “His pulse is getting lower at an alarming rate and the ambulance is not here yet” she groaned, picking up her phone. In frustration, she tossed the phone aside, then rose from her kneeling position. She took one last look at the immobile body of her boss, then dashed out of the office. Just as she was about to run into the street, she heard the ambulance siren approaching. Relieved, she began to wave her hand frantically in the air to get their attention. “This way” she called out to
Immediately after the doctor came out of the waiting room, and Niko and Adam ran to his side to make inquiries about his health. As usual, he had a negative reply, so they weren't surprised. Raymond was staring into space when his friends joined him. No one said a word to him at first, but when Adam could not contain his anger, he balled his palm into a fist before sending it into the soft bed. “I was already done before it happened,” Raymond said. “If you had taken a break when I asked you to, this wouldn't have happened. Having less than a year left doesn't mean you should try to shorten it” Adam scowled. “I need to achieve my goals before then…” Niko did not allow him to complete his words before he cut in. “Adam is right. Overworking yourself is going to endanger your health the more” “Okay,” Raymond replied to put an end to their advice. If he allowed them to have their way, they wouldn't stop talking. The ward was silent for a while as each one had separate thoug
Immediately the clock chimed 4 am, Raymond sat up in his bed. For more than ten years now, he had been waking up by 4 am each day. His body was now used to the timing that even if he didn't set an alarm, he would be awake by 4 am. He climbed out of bed, then walked straight into the bathroom to wash his sleepy face before he commenced work for the day. When he was done, he returned to his room and did some stretches before settling on his laptop, which was on his desk. Since he skipped work the previous day, he had an extra workload, so he felt that to accomplish his day's goal, he needed to start earlier. He ought to meditate for thirty minutes, but since he didn't do a thing the previous day, he had to skip that daily ritual. For more than three hours, his eyes were fixed on his screen as he went through business proposals, deals, and deadlines that he had to beat. He only realized the time had gone far when his phone began to buzz. It was Niko on the line. “Hey,”
