Liam stared at the divorce papers in his hands.

She’d been carrying them around.

Was she planning to tell him tonight? Come home, sit him down, maybe throw in a "We need to talk" before dropping the bomb?

Too bad. The surprise came early.

He picked up the pen and signed without a word.

"Five years I gave you everything. I can let that go."

"But give me back the ring."

His voice was steady. Cold.

"It’s a family heirloom, meant for my wife. And you? You’re not her anymore."

Nina’s eyes flicked to the ring on her finger.

Simple. Modest. Nothing flashy. People had whispered for years, saying it didn’t match her status. That she should’ve upgraded a long time ago.

She’d never taken it off. Not until now.

Something crossed her face. Regret? Hesitation? something even she probably couldn’t name.

Then, just as quickly, it was gone.

She yanked the ring off and tossed it to the floor.

Clink.

The tiny sound barely registered over the pounding in Liam’s chest.

She smirked.

"From now on, we’re done. The money will be wired to your account. You can keep the house and the car. You poor thing."

Liam stared at her.

The woman he’d once loved. The woman he’d sacrificed for, believed in.

He felt nothing.

"Keep it," he said flatly. "I don’t want, and I don’t need your money."

Jake Johnson let out a loud, mocking laugh, his hand still lazily resting on Nina’s waist.

"Liam, man, stop pretending you’ve got dignity. You’ve been riding her coattails for years."

"That money? That house? That car? You’ll never get another shot like this!"

"You should be kissing her feet for handing it to you on a silver platter!"

His grin stretched wider.

"But no, you wanna act all noble. Hate to break it to you, but in this world, cash is king."

"And you? Worthless."

"So do yourself a favor! Drop the act, bow that head, and take what you’re given."

“No one gives a damn about your dig-ni-ty-!”

Jake reached out as he spoke, giving Liam’s cheek a few light taps.

Not hard. Not painful. Just meant to humiliate.

Liam’s eyes darkened.

Snap.

A twist of tendons. Jake’s smug expression shattered into raw agony.

He started to shriek. High, sharp, ugly, like a pig being dragged to slaughter.

"Liam, you crazy bastard! You dare touch me?!"

Jake staggered back, clutching his wrist like it had been mangled beyond repair.

"Do you have any idea who I am?!" Spit flew from his lips. "One word from me, and you’ll be wiped off the face of Riverside City!"

Nina gasped. Her eyes darted to Jake’s contorted face.

"Liam, stop! Let him go! If you hurt Jake, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life!"

His grip tightened for just a second longer, just enough to hear another pained yelp from Jake.

Then, he let go.

Jake stumbled back, wheezing, face pale as he cradled his hand.

Liam exhaled slowly, his voice eerily calm.

"Five years together. And the second things go south, you’re more worried about his wrist than anything we had?"

A humorless chuckle.

"You never stop surprising me, Nina."

Without another glance, he turned and walked away.

Out the door and out of her life.

The cold night air hit him like a slap.

Five years of love, of building a life together, and it had all crumbled into nothing.

He wanted to say it didn’t hurt.

But that would be a lie.

The memories, the laughter, the struggles, the promises… They flashed through his mind like a shattered reel of film. A past that no longer belonged to him.

Liam pulled out his phone and made a call.

"I’m at the Imperial Grand Hotel. Send someone to pick me up."

The voice on the other end practically vibrated with excitement.

" Young Master! it’s finally time for you to come back! I’ll be there immediately!"

Twenty minutes later, the entrance of the Imperial Grand Hotel was unrecognizable.

A fleet of Lamborghinis lined the driveway, engines purring like a pack of hungry predators.

People stopped. Stared.

Some pulled out their phones, recording.

Then-!

Dozens of men in black suits stepped forward, standing in perfect formation.

As Liam stepped out, they moved as one.

They bowed deeply to Liam, voices ringing in unison.

"Welcome back, Young Master!"

Liam barely reacted. If anything, he frowned.

What the hell.

He thought Amnon knew he preferred to keep a low profile.

A sharp-dressed man in his fifties stepped forward. It was Amnon.

The man had graying hair, and steel-like posture. The kind of presence that made grown men sweat bullets.

Liam sighed.

"Amnon, I told you to pick me up. Not throw a damn parade."

Amnon smiled, utterly unfazed.

"Young Master, this is me keeping a low profile.”

“If it were up to me, there’d be red carpets, fireworks, and helicopters raining cash over Riverside City!"
