Chapter 7

However, Christian later became doubtful. His consistently unfortunate life had accustomed him to not dreaming big, at least until he was absolutely sure that he was the heir to the Demetri Family’s wealth.

What if they didn’t believe that the sender of the email was Christian Demetri? Or what if he wasn’t the rightful heir?

But all those worries vanished when the reply email from CrispCrafter Industries arrived on his phone.

“Good evening, Mr. Christian Demetri. We will promptly process your request. A board meeting will be held tomorrow to determine the requirements needed by the local companies in New York to collaborate with us. The results will be sent to you via email. Thank you.”

After reading the letter, Christian felt extremely delighted. He stood on the garden chair and leaped to let out his joy.

“I will make you happy, Yve!” Christian exclaimed.

The Next Day,

Yve hurriedly went to the office. Without hearing the events of the previous night, she realized that the deal with Percival had failed.

Upon arriving at the office, Yve went straight to her room and finished up some unfinished work from yesterday. After that, she started looking for ways to secure the 10 billion funds since the deadline was tomorrow.

Not just because of her grandmother’s orders, but as the general manager, she felt responsible for saving the company.

She contacted all the wealthy contacts in her phone to borrow money. She was willing to endure any embarrassment for the sake of the company.

But the results were futile. None of them were willing to lend money to Yvette. The name of De Delta company didn’t seem to instill confidence in those people.

Yve felt frustrated. She covered her face with both hands and then began to pull at her own hair.

“Where else can I go?”

Suddenly, her office phone rang. Yve picked it up.

“Yve, come to my office now!” a cold voice of a woman sounded on the other end of the phone.

“Alright, Grandma!” Yve replied weakly.

After a few moments leaning her body while closing her eyes, she finally walked to the president director’s office.

Inside the room, it turned out that she wasn’t the only one summoned. Orion and her uncle, Alaric De Delta, were already present.

“Yve, sit!” Marigold called out.

Yve immediately took a seat in the chair right next to Orion.

“How could you fail to secure the funds from Mr. Percival? Declan worked hard to arrange the meeting, and you ruined it. What’s wrong with you!” scolded her grandmother.

Yve knew the truth from her mother that she had been brought home by Christian while intoxicated last night. But she couldn’t reveal that Christian had sabotaged the collaboration because she knew he did it for her sake.

“I’m sorry, Grandma. Last night, I drank too much until I got drunk and eventually passed out,” Yve said, bowing her head.

Marigold slammed the table quite hard.

“Grandma knows that Christian sabotaged it. He hit Declan and Mr. Percival so hard that Mr. Percival is now hospitalized. We failed to secure the collaboration, and now we’re embarrassed because of your husband’s actions,” Marigold raged. Her eyes bulged, and her face turned crimson.

“But Grandma, he did it to save me,” Yve defended.

“Save? Grandma saw him bringing you and our family company to the brink of bankruptcy! I don’t care; you must divorce Christian as soon as possible! He’s only bringing disaster to our family!” Marigold was truly furious.

What her grandmother said somewhat influenced her view of Christian.

“Alright, if that’s what you want. I don’t care. You have to find that 10 billion funds by tomorrow, no matter what!” Marigold exclaimed.

Finding 10 billion in just one day? How was that even possible!

Yve could only nod her head. She then left her grandmother’s room to return to her own. However, when she exited the elevator, she ran into Declan.

“Good afternoon, Yve!” Declan greeted with his sweet smile, as if nothing had happened the night before.

“What are you doing here?” Yve asked.

“I’m here to apologize to you about last night. I didn’t know your alcohol tolerance was so low. And as an apology, I have a small gift for you,” Declan said as he handed her a black box tied with a gold ribbon.

Yve looked at the box, surprised because it bore the logo of a renowned diamond store.

“Is this for me?” Yve asked.

“Who else would it be for? I bought it in Milan. Actually, I entrusted it to my friend who was on vacation there, and I was going to give it to you as a gift. So, it’s not a bribe for you to forgive me,” Declan explained.

Yve then opened the box. She was captivated by what she found inside.

A necklace with a diamond shaped like a snowflake, so beautiful.

This necklace was highly sought after by many women. Those who owned it would feel proud because it was very difficult to obtain.

However, the necklace Declan gave her had the number 11112 engraved on the back of the diamond. It was a code indicating that the necklace was a limited edition with a heavier carat weight.

The price of a regular diamond necklace was usually around 100 million. But the necklace Declan gave Yve was worth 500 million.

All women from wealthy families coveted this necklace, and so did Yve. However, she couldn’t accept such an expensive gift.

“This gift is too expensive, Declan. I can’t accept it,” Yve said.

Declan, with a calm expression, held both of Yve’s shoulders. Then he said, “I bought it from far away. Even though I entrusted it to my friend, I still bought it in Milan. This necklace suits you perfectly. No one else deserves to wear it but you.”

The beautiful woman, currently wearing a red blazer over a white tank top and a tight red skirt, paused for a moment.

Declan couldn’t keep his eyes off her ample cleavage, clearly visible because of the tight tank top. He almost drooled.

“What I really need right now is 10 billion in funds. But your gift, thank you so much!” Yve said, smiling.

Yve subtly hinted to Declan to lend her the money for her company.

“Let alone 10 billion, I’d give you 100 billion right now if you’re willing to marry me,” Declan said, taking the diamond necklace and preparing to put it around Yve’s neck.

But suddenly, Christian arrived and immediately shook hands with Declan while saying, “Yve, don’t accept gifts from strangers. It’s not good.”

The 500 million necklace fell to the floor.

“Christian! What are you doing!”
