Impossible To Afford A Car

With the old man taking the lead, they got to the CEO's office.

The Butler pushed the door open by using the doorknob. Roland was welcomed by a spacious area.

The desk was made of fine wood, and one wouldn't even know that it was made from wood unless they were being told.

A swivel chair was placed close to the table and on the large desk were some documents, a computer, and a flower.

The office also had a large cupboard for storing some files and a sofa for visitors.

Roland gasped and wondered how much money his family had.

"You see...nobody was allowed to enter this office because your father; the chairman believed his true heir will return home and take charge of the company!" The old man explained.

"So, you mean, this company belongs to me?" Roland said in shock. He used his palm to cover his mouth.

"Yes, we'll just have to wait for the chairman's arrival so we can know the next step to take!" The old man said with a proud smile on his face.

Roland couldn't believe that he was born into such an honorable family and yet he had suffered a lot without knowing.

This was God's doing. He thought as he appreciated God in his heart. This was indeed the work of the highest.

He was thankful to Debbie for making it possible because if he hadn't owed those mafia men some money, he wouldn't have been able to meet this mysterious old man.

"Thank you so much, sir!" Roland was genuinely happy.

His days and years of suffering have come to an end.

He also found out that his father had control over most of the mafia gangs in the country.

Just how very influential his father was!

They had several super-consortiums.

The old man used his hands to wave off his words as a sign of disapproval.

"Oh, don't call me that. You don't want the chairman to hear you addressing me that way. I'll get my head chopped off." The old man laughed. His wrinkled eyes creased.

Roland also laughed out loud. This old man has a good sense of humor.

"You'll be staying at the L.M till the chairman is back and besides you don't need to worry about anything else. Your room has been well arranged for you."

"Really?"

This was a dream come true for Roland. Who would decline such an invitation to live in the L.M. Roland was more than excited.

His excitement was cut off by the sound of his phone. He took out his small portable phone and checked the caller ID to know who it was.

Katherine!

Roland took an excuse from the Butler to answer the phone call and so his permission was granted.

"Hello, Roland!" He heard Katherine's voice say and he could tell from her voice that she was excited.

Thinking about the smile on her face made him smile. "Hello, Kath!"

"So how are you doing?" Katherine asked sweetly.

This question of hers reminded him of Debbie. That lass made him feel as if he was the only man in the world that deserves to be loved until the table turned.

"I'm okay, Kath. What's the good news?" He asked brushing off the informalities.

"Yeah, yeah, I've made up my mind to host the classmate reunion by tomorrow night. I've contacted the rest of them and they'll be attending." Katherine informed.

The young lass was smiling at the other end of the phone. But she was happy about the classmate reunion.

She just couldn't wait to see Roland again and the scene of her waking up in his arms made her cheeks flush.

"Okay then, I'll be there!" Roland assured.

"Thanks, Rolly. See ya!" She said excitedly before hanging up.

"Rolly!" Roland repeated.

She just gave him a nickname. This made him smile broadly without knowing that he wasn't backing the old man anymore.

The old man could see that Roland was finding it difficult to remove his phone from his left ear.

He could see the way Roland was smiling from ear to ear but he wasn't in any position to ask him about it.

The old cleared his throat to gain an audience from Roland who was absentminded.

"Oh, right!" Roland was quite embarrassed. The old man just saw him smiling like a coward over the phone.

"I'd like to get prepared for a party that I'm being invited to so I'll have to take permission to leave," Roland spoke in haste, and before the old man could give him a go-ahead he had already disappeared from his sight.

"Young couples these days!" The old man chuckled.

Since he had money now, Roland thought it'll be better to get a car for himself, and besides, he'll be residing in the L.M. so he didn't want to act poor.

He boarded a cab to a car shop.

Just when he got there, he found out that Debbie was there too.

This took him by surprise.

Was she there to buy another car? He knew his girlfriend was rich and she came from a rich family so buying a new car wasn't her problem.

Back then, he used to ride in her car as well.

Debbie saw Roland coming. And the first thing she did was burst into a peak of hilarious laughter.

"Oh my goodness, what does he think he's doing here?" She laughed again.

She knew that'll Roland was god-damn poor and couldn't afford even the lowest car that was sold in the car shop.

The way she mocked him made his blood boil and to make matters worst, there were other customers there who wants to purchase a car as well.

Seeing the way Roland was looking unkept made her laugh out loud till her tummy hurt.

Even the other people that didn't know the reason she was laughing joined her in the laughter.

They knew she was judging Roland by his looks and seeing him looking like a pauper made them laugh as well.

"Do you think you can be able to afford any car here or even rent one?" Debbie's face became so serious that she had security kick him out of the car shop.

Saying that he was a beggar and missed his way. Thinking that the car shop was for charity.
