Chapter 10 - A Bet

"What did you say? What can you be proud of, trash!" Joseph shouted as he tightened his grip around Daniel's neck. His handsome face looked very tense.

Anyone who had been around Joseph for a long time would know that the young man's temper was fierce. Especially with his noble status. None of those living in Tectona dared to provoke him.

Daniel was unaffected by the shouting. Calmly, he said.

"Don't think too much of yourself! We'll never know who the real scum is until we prove it!"

Joseph did not immediately respond to Daniel's words. In fact, his laughter exploded upon hearing such words.

Ha ha ha ha ha!

"What are you trying to prove? Don't you see that shirt you're wearing? My dog even wears clothes that cost thousands of times more!"

"How about we make a bet?" Daniel said again, still with a face without any expression at all.

"Look at you! What do you want to bet, idiot?"

Joseph sank deeper into laughter. He even held his stomach, which was starting to hurt from the constant laughing.

"Just say you have no guts! I thought you were just a coward." Daniel deliberately said those words to make Joseph angry. And as it turned out, his plan was successful.

The look of joy on Joseph's face changed to one of irritation.

"Quick, what's the bet?"

"Like I said, I don't know how much you're asking Jason for the car. But if I find out that I can afford the same price, I'll get the car!" Daniel said firmly.

Joseph smiled sarcastically. It seemed to him that Daniel had gone completely crazy, not even being able to measure up to his own abilities. But he was also a little worried. The Leopard Black Series really is a rare car. If he had lost it, who knew where else he would find it.

"What if your dream turns out to be too high?" Joseph mocked Daniel. According to him, the fact that Daniel was able to pay for the car would never happen in the real world.

"If it turns out I can't afford it, there's nothing I can do. You will determine my fate and hers." Daniel said, pointing his index finger at himself and then at Helena.

For Joseph this was an opportunity not to be missed. He had wanted Helena for a long time. At the same time, he didn't care about Daniel. He was sure that the young man would not have the money to pay for the car. After this business is over, he will ask Jason to get rid of Daniel so that there are no witnesses to his illegal transactions.

Then he would leave Tectona City on a Leopard with Helena at his side. "Okay! I agree!" Joseph replied to Daniel's words immediately.

"So that's the reason! You want to look cool in Helena's eyes, right? You idiot, you only helped me a second time!" Joseph said in his heart, smiling triumphantly.

A few minutes later, they were in the main office of Tec-Auto.

Joseph approached Jason and seemed to whisper something to him. The old man was a little reluctant at first, not wanting to reveal his secret to the other executives. But of course, he did not dare to refuse the young man's orders. A few moments later, the old man looked at everyone who was busy with their own business. "Everyone, please pay attention!" he said.

"A few days ago, Mr. Collymore made an offer for a unit in our store, and I accepted his offer. Today he came to give me the money," Jason continued. The old man then said that he could not say what kind of car it was. What is clear, according to him, is that the price of the car is much higher than all the luxury cars at Tec-Auto.

"Unfortunately, at this very moment a young man of unclear background and intentions is trying to bid on the car at a higher price. Mr. Collymore and I are sure that this young man is trying to make a joke, or perhaps he has lost his mind. Nevertheless, as a gentleman, Mr. Collymore wants me to grant his wish."

Everyone in the room then took turns looking at the two young men before them. As they looked at Joseph, they silently praised him. He looked luxurious and noble, typical of the lifestyle of noble youths. Without being asked, they all support and listen to his voice.

On the other hand, when they looked at Daniel, their minds were filled with uncertainty and questions. Was it really this man who tried to play Mr. Collymore? His appearance alone looks so poor and pitiful! Really ignorant!

Jason then turned to Daniel.

"Daniel, I give you one last chance. Apologize to Mr. Collymore and admit your defeat! If you don't, I'm afraid you won't be able to breathe tomorrow."

"Don't worry, Jason! I won't go back on my word," Daniel said firmly. His words only elicited mockery from the people.

"You stupid! Who does he think he is?"

"I don't know if this young man has any sense or not!"

"Maybe he's tired of living!"

Seeing that Daniel was so adamant, Jason then mentioned the price of the car.

"Thirteen million! Mr. Collymore has agreed to buy it for thirteen million dollars!"

Hearing the price Jason mentioned, everyone was stunned. They could hardly believe what they were hearing. In the history of Tec-Auto, there had never been a car with such a high price!

Joseph just smiled proudly at their shocked expressions. "You should know who the Collymores are and what we can do about it," he said to himself.

On the other hand, Daniel was actually surprised. The normal price of the car was thirteen million. But if Jason got it on the black market, he should sell it for twice that price or a little less. "If Jason continues to sell it at that price, wouldn't he just be giving Joseph a profit?"

Of course, Daniel did not know another important piece of information. This was not the first time Jason had embezzled luxury goods. He had done it many times before. He was able to succeed in all these endeavors because there was Joseph to help him. That's why when Joseph showed interest in that Leopard Black Series, Jason didn't take advantage of it at all. Even if Joseph had asked for it, the old man would have given it willingly.

Daniel ignored them.

"Fourteen million! I'll pay fourteen million for the car!"

At that time, only Eleanor was willing to befriend him. Although she comes from a wealthy family, Eleanor enjoys being friends with Daniel. No one believed Daniel.
