Chapter 9 - Leopard Black Series

"What are you doing?"

The middle-aged man who was leading them asked, looking back and forth between Daniel and Helena. His look was suspicious.

"No! Nothing happened..."

Helena quickly pulled herself away from Daniel. She wanted to explain what had just happened, but the middle-aged man interrupted her.

"Didn't I forbid you to come here, Helena? Didn't you hear me?"

"I'm sorry, Jason. I was just escorting Mr. Daniel to-"

Jason raised his hand in Helena's direction. He didn't want to hear an explanation from her.

"Did that riffraff persuade you to come here? Did he try to do something bad to you?"

He glared at Daniel as he said this.

"No! Please forgive me! Mr. Daniel actually helped me," Helena pleaded, moving her hands.

"Helped you? What can a useless young man like him do?"

Jason kept his eyes on Daniel. Then he turned to the two guards behind him.

"Take this vagrant out and teach him a lesson! I don't want trash like him coming in here like rats."

The two guards started to carry out Jason's order, but the handsome young man behind them stopped them.

"No need! Just leave him alone!"

The young man patted Jason on the shoulder and approached the girl.

"Helena, I never expected to see you in this place again! Can we talk for a moment?" he said calmly. Since he entered the room, his eyes had never left Helena.

‘Joseph? Why is this man here?' Helena remembered his face. She was quite surprised that the young man had come to this place. "Hello, Mr. Collymore, please come with me!"

Helena led Joseph away from Daniel and three other men. From a distance, it looked like they were having a serious conversation. Several times Helena looks emotional. Meanwhile, Joseph continues to speak casually. The grin on his face and the way he looked at Helena had some meaning.

Joseph then approached Jason while Helena continued to stand in her place. "Jason, you can go. Let me take care of this tramp!" After Jason and his two guards left, Joseph approached Daniel's ear. He did not want his conversation to be heard by Helena.

"Hey trash, you're quite talented! I don't know what you did to win the heart of that beautiful girl. But thanks to you, I can have her now."

Joseph could see the look of concern on Helena's face as Jason's guards were about to beat up Daniel. He knew he could take advantage of the situation. "Stay with me tonight and I'll let the boy go," he told Helena.

Helena found herself in a difficult situation. On the one hand, she had no relationship with Daniel. They were not even friends. She couldn't find any reasonable reason to sacrifice her purity, which she had always preserved, to help a stranger.

"Why should I care about him?" Helena said to herself, overwhelmed by a feeling of indecision.

On the other hand, this was not the first time she had dealt with Joseph. When she was elected Miss North Hill two years ago, offers to become a model kept coming in. With that came a lot of men chasing her. Among the most prominent was Joseph Collymore, a nobleman and owner of a famous agency in the capital. He had offered Helena several times a modeling role with a fantastic fee. But the girl always refused.

One day, Joseph made a threat. "Your career will be over if you continue with your attitude!" It didn't take long. Helena started to lose her job. The agencies and companies she worked with unilaterally terminated her contracts.

Helena felt there was no way she could avoid this. If she refused Joseph, the young man could easily order Jason to fire her. Besides, she needed a lot of money right now. Her mother was in the hospital and her younger sister had just started college. If she lost her job again, she didn't know how she would get money for them.

Hearing Joseph's whisper, Daniel turned to look at Helena, who was still standing far away from them. The girl folded her hands, drowning in her own thoughts. Meanwhile, her face continued to stare at the floor of the building with a clear expression of sadness and uncertainty.

It doesn't take a high level of intelligence to understand what is going on here. Daniel can see it. Helena sacrificed herself to help him.

"Quickly, leave this place! Consider it your lucky day," Joseph said, waving his hand and turning his back on Daniel. He walked toward Helena. "If I see your filthy face again, I won't hesitate to bury it in the ground."

Before Joseph reached Helena, Daniel opened his mouth for the first time since Joseph's arrival.

"What if I decide not to leave?"

Daniel might be able to forget what Joseph had just done to him. He wouldn't prolong the problem just because someone thought little of him. But he would never allow a girl to be harassed. Never! Especially if the girl was forced to do it to help him. He would never remain silent. He would take action.

Joseph fell silent after hearing these words. He took a deep breath and shouted a little.

"Stop acting! You're still alive because of Helena. If you keep trying to act cool like this, I'll make sure that today will be your last day."

The threat did not affect Daniel. He became even braver.

"Really? I'm a little skeptical if you have the ability to do that."

Joseph turned his body and quickly approached Daniel. He grabbed the young man's neck with one hand. "Trash like you shouldn't be allowed to breathe any longer."

Joseph clenched the fingers of his right hand and was about to strike Daniel in the face. But before he could raise his hand, Daniel spoke again.

"You didn't come for Miss Dubois!" Daniel said, ignoring Joseph's grip around his neck.

From the moment Daniel arrived at this place and saw the Leopard Black Series, there was one thing that bothered him. Of all the luxury cars on display, the black sports car was clearly the best. Then why wasn't it included in the exhibition?

Then Joseph arrived. Daniel was sure that if Joseph was not a super rich young man, he must be a nobleman. Not only Helena, but even Jason, who had a higher position, heard his words.

Connecting these two facts, Daniel finally came to a conclusion.

"But you came for this, didn't you?" He casually nodded his head in the direction of the Leopard Black Series beside them.

Joseph was silent for a moment after hearing Daniel's words. There was a trace of hesitation on his face. It was as if someone had known what he was hiding.

"I didn't expect a young man as rich as you to be interested in stolen cars!"

What Daniel said surprised not only Joseph. Helena, who had been watching them, felt the same way. ‘No wonder Jason forbade me to come here during the exhibition!’

The exhibition was just a camouflage.

After successfully stealing a Leopard Black Series unit, Jason held the event to gather wealthy people in Tectona City. He had spent a considerable amount of money on the theft. Therefore, he had to get the highest bidder.

"Since you took the trouble to come to this city by yourself, I am becoming more and more curious. How much did you offer Jason to get this car?" Daniel continued.

Joseph couldn't say anything. What Daniel had said was true. He was the highest bidder!

"This is none of your business! After this car becomes mine, no one will think that I have received stolen goods. No one will dare to say bad things to the Collymore family, remember that!"

Joseph became frightened when Daniel found out what he had done. But he quickly came to his senses. "I am an honorable provincial nobleman, and you are just a pile of trash! No one will believe you! So why should I care what you say?"

Joseph continued to laugh hysterically while still clutching Daniel's neck. He felt like he had finally escaped the shame that had been weighing on him.

Meanwhile, Daniel remained calm. With a sneering grin on his face, he looked Joseph in the eye and said, "I don't believe for a second that you're better than me!
