Chapter 3

The next morning, Mason was up early as usual. He cleaned the house and prepared breakfast and headed to Microloft headquarters in his peugeot 207 which was extremely beat up.

He pulled up to the Microloft parking lot but saw that a special access was required to park. At that moment, a white BMW zoomed past him and parked.

He looked up and saw a couple step out of the BMW. Hand in hand, it was Jason and his fiancée, Emerald.

Jason was dressed rather flashy in some designer Mason wasn’t sure what designer exactly. Emerald was dressed head to toe in Burberry’s signature print.

Mason didn’t know why they were there. He knew his best bet would be to avoid them, but as he turned around, he heard his name.

“Mason?!” Jason called out

They both approached him as he stepped out of his Peugeot.

Emerald scrunched her nose in disgust.

“Baby, did someone let a rat in here?” She asked, sizing Mason up and down.

Mason ignored her remark.

“Hi, Jason, Emerald.”

“Why are you both here?” Mason asked.

“We’re more surprised as to why you’re here.” Emerald said.

“Anyways, we’re here to see Rita Donovan, the vice chairman. Not that it concerns you.” Jason said.

“We have some business with Microloft. I’m here to introduce Jason, the Rodney’s have not gotten a chance to collaborate.” Emerald said.

He wasn’t aware that the Wilson’s and Microloft had business. Emerald was a Wilson and Jason’s engagement to her was purely for business.

He knew however that Microloft didn’t collaborate with middle class businesses like the Rodney’s.

This was interesting.

“Okay, enjoy your visit.” Mason said, smiling.

Jason got extremely irritated and angry. He was just ridiculed and insulted just yesterday by his family.

Yet here he was today smiling at him, like nothing had happened.

“And why are you here?” Jason asked.

“I’m here to apply for a job.” Mason said, lying.

He was actually here to see Rita, the vice chairman.

“Apply for a job? I didn’t know Microloft hired losers. Did you, babe?” Jason asked.

“Are you kidding me? Do you think we’re a joke?!” He screamed.

“What does it mean to you?” Mason asked.

“But really, Mason. What do you even have to apply?”

“Did you finish high school? Do you have any qualifications?”

“Diploma?”

“I don’t even think you would qualify as a security guard. Maybe a janitor?”

“Yes, maybe a janitor. You would be better off applying to take out trash. You would definitely get that. No qualifications required.”

“Here, take this out.”

Emerald tossed an empty water bottle at his feet.

As they walked away, Emerald said: “Since I’m familiar with Ms, Donovan, why don’t I see if she can arrange maybe a toilet cleaning job for you here?”

They both laughed sinisterly.

“The kind of job I’m applying for is none of your business. Microloft is a big company and it’s a shame they collaborate with minor trash companies like your company.”

Mason said with a smirk.

Jason turned red with anger.

“Who are you calling minor trash?!” He demanded.

“You. Trash!” He said and he walked away.

Heading for the entrance, Jason jogged up to catch up to Mason.

He was heated and was about to punch Mason when Emerald held his hand, pointing at the cctv camera.

It was bad for their reputation .

He was coming here to propose a business plan that would greatly benefit Rodney's declining social status and he wasn’t going to let Mason jeopardize that.

“You b*stard! You’re lucky now! Won’t be so lucky next time!” He yelled.

He gritted his teeth and Mason snorted and walked inside the building.

Jason was absolutely furious that Mason looked down on him as he entered the building.

Mason entered the elevator and before it closed he said, “Jason Rodney, do you really think you’re so powerful? Believe me, you will soon pay the price for being such a spoiled, cocky and arrogant nobody.”

“How dare you!?” Jason yelled, approaching the elevator but Emerald held him back.

“Do not waste your energy on scum and worse, do not contaminate yourself by entering the same elevator as trash. Let’s use the next one.”

He agreed, he wasn’t going to let Mason edge him on and make him seem like the aggressor by putting his hands on him.

He was going to wait for them to meet outside of Microloft.

“I’ll teach you a lesson the next time I see you, b*stard!”

The elevator closed.

The elevator opened on the top floor where Mason was to see Rita Donovan, the vice chairman of Microloft.

Gerald had already briefed Rita about Mason coming to the company’s headquarters.

Rita Donovan had been the vice chairman of Microloft for five years.

She was a prominent woman in Beverly Hills and climbed up the corporate ladder extremely fast.

She was known for her competence and served diligently. She was among the factors that brought Microloft to where they are now.

After the former chairman left, she was asked to stay behind to support the new chairman.

She was surprised to see that the new chairman was not Christian Wilde but rather his grandson, whom no one knew he had!

Mason approached her and she bowed to him. He seemed like a charming young man, not to mention the fact that he did not look the part at all.

She paid her respects either way.

“You’re welcome to Microloft, please come this way to my office.”
