Chapter 6

Mason had Rita officially announce the opening of applications for the new building in two weeks time.

So he used his now very free time to do something special for Scarlet.

Besides offering her the contract which would grant her the position of COO, he wanted to ice her out.

Although she was a Rodney, she left parent’s home shortly after her wedding to Mason because they all gave them an extremely difficult time.

Because of her siding with her husband all the time, she was no longer a member of the board and she was pushed to the backboard.

Scarlet didn’t complain though, the less time she spent with them, the better.

She did the little she could to provide for her and Mason.

Mason did odd jobs here and there to also provide the little he could.

So he really wanted to do something for Scarlet so that day he sat at the computer, searching for jewelry companies in Beverly Hills.

He came across a jewelry company ‘steffany’ which had a branch not too far from his home.

That was his agenda for the day.

He drove his car to steffany headquarters and parked across the street.

He was doing a bit of window shopping, trying to feel out what he was going for when he sighted a beautiful pearl necklace.

It stood out even more than the diamonds in sight.

He walked up to the jewelry consultant to make an inquiry about the beautiful necklace.

“Hello, I’m thinking of getting that pearl necklace on display.”

The lady behind the counter who wore the tag of jewelry consultant was speaking to a man that was also behind the counter.

She turned around and sized Mason up and down, a look he was used to.

“Is there a problem?” He asked.

“Ryan? Ryan?!” She called out.

“Yes, Amira?!”

“Who let this man in?! I thought we had guards at the door?!”

The man Mason now knew as Ryan also sized him up and down with his eyes.

“Oh my God! What is this?! Look at how he’s dressed!” Ryan screamed.

They were causing a scene and Mason was feeling incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassed.

“I just want to know about a necklace. I would like to buy it.”

“Do you know where you are?! Steffany!”

“The number 1 jewelry store in the country! Or did you lose your way?!” The jewelry consultant said.

“Is this how you treat your clients?!”

She scoffed. “You aren’t a client! You look damn near like a stray! You cannot afford anything in here and you being here is making us look bad!”

Mason was increasingly enraged.

He looked up the owner of steffany before coming in and did his research.

From his findings it was clear that the owner was one of Gerlad’s ground men.

The ruckus was getting out of hand and Mason was irritated.

He hated that no matter where he went he was treated poorly because the citizens of Beverly were all such terrible people.

“How much is the pearl necklace anyway?!” Mason demanded.

“3 million dollars! Have you ever seen a 100 dollar bill?!” The jewelry consultant asked.

“How about you see the 3 million in cash?”

She scoffed. “Ryan! Please get some guards to throw out this trash! He’s causing a scene.”

“One minute. Give me one minute.” Mason said.

“Fine! One minute and we throw you out of here! Ew.”

Mason placed a call to Gerald.

“Hello Gerald. I need 3 million dollars in cash at steffanys in 30 seconds.”

“Also, get me the owner.” And he hung up.

Ryan and Amari scoffed.

“He must be putting on some kind of show. Maybe he’s a prankster!”

“Time's up! Guards!”

The armed guards moved to remove Mason from the building when the owner rushed out of the elevator.

“What is going on?!” The fat man ran to the scene.

“Sir-.” Amari stuttered.

Gerald had called Mr Steffany cursing him out and that his Master was being harassed downstairs.

Mr Steffany ran downstairs.

“Where is he? Where is he?!” He asked.

“Where is who, sir?!”

“Mr Wilde!!!”

Mr Wilde, Mr Wilde?

“Mr steffany.” Mason called out.

All their heads snapped to look at him.

Gerald pulled up to the building in a black limousine and rushed into the building, bowing to Mason.

“Young master.”

“I told you a minute Gerald.”

Mason snapped.

“I apologize sir, there was traffic.”

A crowd had formed around them now.

Mr steffany greeted Gerald, “sir.”

“Steffany. Do you now hire illiterates?! How dare your staff make a fool of the head of Microloft?!”

“Did that happen?!” Mr steffany turned around.

“Who was it? Who were the fo*ls that did this?”

Ryan pointed at Amari and all the blood in her face looked like it was drained out.

“Sir-.” She stuttered.

Who was this man! Her life was without a doubt over!

“The man in the suit too.” Mason added.

“Oh I apologize Mr Wilde.” He walked up to Ryan and gave him a dirty slap.

He looked at Amari and said, “you’re lucky you’re a woman! Call the cops! I’m having this two locked up without bail! That would give you a good lesson.”

Amari started crying and begging, falling to her knees.

“I’m sorry! God I’m sorry!”

“Mr Wilde, please have mercy on me! This job is my everything!”

Ryan stood there in shock.

Mason squatted down to her level on the floor and said, “if you knew this job was your everything you shouldn’t have discriminated against a person you didn’t know, sc*m.”

Amari gasped. She thought he would have mercy on her.

“Steffany!” Mason called out.

“Yes, sir!” The fat man responded.

“I don’t want word to ever reach me that these two are out of jail. Ensure their case never goes to court and keep them in there till I’m certain they have learnt their lesson.”

“Of course sir!”

At that point camera shutters were being heard and Gerald did his best to surround Mason with his men.

So at the end of the altercation no one could see the face of the mysterious Mr Wilde and his identity was not revealed.

Mason ended up leaving the store with the pearl necklace and a diamond ring for free, courtesy of Mr Steffany.

He wasn’t at all used to special treatment but he was glad that if he were to exist in an unfair world, at least he wasn’t the one getting the unfair treatment anymore.

Mason left through the back door as the front of the building was paraded with paparazzis.
