005. THE MAN IN CHARGE.

Dominic could barely sleep all through the night, the thought that he had suddenly become so important made his heart leap with joy. Even though nobody actually knew he was the CEO of the company, the feeling that they all wanted something from him made him feel good.

After leisurely enjoying his breakfast that he had made himself, Dominic went back to his bedroom to have a change of clothes. He traded his casual outfit for a neatly ironed shirt, and a pair of jeans. His earlier idea was to put on a suit but he decided he wanted to go simple, a mix between casual and corporate.

He combed his red hair to the back, and added a bit of hair gel to keep it that way.

For his shoes, Dominic was having a hard time deciding between a pair of white sneakers, or black office shoes. Eventually, his casual side won the battle and he wore the sneakers.

Now he was ready to make a new start for himself.

"And where do you think you're going?" His wife questioned as she noticed him all dressed.

"I told you last night, didn't I? I said I was going to do my best to help you. So that is what I'm doing."

"How on earth could you possibly help me when you can't even help yourself?"

"Don't you worry Ciara, you'll see." She looked confused but she didn't say anything else.

While other people took their cars or just call a taxi when going out, Dominic on the other hand, had a more… unique style.

His mode of transportation was a bicycle that Ciara's grandfather had gotten him before his demise. The man had sent him on an errand and he returned home late. When he asked the reason for his lateness, Dominic said it was because he walked all the way, and out of the frustration he was feeling, he said getting around would be very easy if he at least had a bicycle.

The next day, the old man presented him with the bicycle. Although Dominic would have preferred a motorcycle, he accepted the gift with joy and he had gotten very fond of it since that day.

He hopped on his bicycle and happily made his way to the company. He enjoyed the way the morning breeze fanned his face as he rode along the road. Another advantage of using a bicycle was that he didn't have to be stuck in traffic, so that morning he was able to evade it as well.

When he parked his ride at the lot, he noticed some painfully familiar faces and his smile vanished. Maria and her cocky boyfriend, Tomas parked their car just a few vehicles away from him.

They were headed in the same direction so it was impossible to avoid them.

"Ah screw it." He said, then proceeded to the main entrance, but making sure he kept some distance between them.

They had almost gotten to the entrance when Maria suddenly looked back. "Oh, what the hell do you want you peasant? Did you follow us all the way here?" She had her usual odd frown on her face. Her brows were furrowed, nose wrinkled and her lips at one side. Dominic always wondered how a person could frown in such an ugly way.

"Good morning Maria, and no I absolutely did not follow you here. In fact, I had no idea I would run into you two here."

"How dare you speak so casually to my fiancee? Have you no curtsey at all?" Tomas barked, glaring at Dominic. "And besides, what is a loser like yourself doing at such a prestigious company? Surely you're not here to beg for money are you? Because that seems to be your specialty now."

Maria laughed at her boyfriend's insult but Dominic just had a plain look on his face. He had no business in telling them his reason for visiting, in fact he almost considered ignoring them and just walking away but he decided against it. He sighed and folded his arms. "Well, if you must know, I am here to apply for a job."

That time, the couple erupted in a louder round of laughter. "Wait, tell me you're kidding." Tomas said, still half laughing.

"He is definitely joking." Maria agreed, then added. "Idiot, what do you think this place is? You're here to apply for a job… dressed like that? Oh don't be silly."

"You couldn't even get a job as a cleaner at this company." Tomas said.

"Tomas, since you're so generous, how about you put in a good word for him, at least that way he might be able to get the job as a cleaner."

"Well you're right babe, I am a very generous man. Tell you what, if you go down on your knees right mow and beg me, I'll make sure you're hired when you have your interview."

Doninic tightened his fists at his side, trying not to lose his cool. "Thank you for the… generous offer, but I don't need it." It was right there and then that Dominic decided that he wasn't going to allow his company to deal with Tomas or Maria. "And goodluck, with whatever it is that you want to do. I think you'll need it because I don't think they let trashy people into their company."

"How dare you?! I should just –"

"If you'll excuse me, I should be going now." He shot the couple a cold glare before walkimg away from them.

"Good morning sir. Welcome to DnD real estates, how may I help you?" The receptionist said as Dominic walked in.

"Good morning, um I would like to ask a question, if you don't mind."

"Not at all, go ahead." She said with a smile.

"Who is the person in charge here? Like the CEO?"

"That would be me." A bold voice answered from behind him. Jason turned and found a tall handsome man staring down at him with disdain. Literally, because the man stood at least a foot taller than Dominic was. "What do you want?"

"If it's alright with you, I would like to have a word with you."

"Do you have an appointment?"

"Uh no, but–"

"Then get out."

"Wow, that was rude. You don't even know who I am." Who on earth made such a disrespectful person in charge of his company? He definitely needed to do something about him.

"Who you are? I'm sorry, do I look like I care? A short man walks into my company dressed so poorly and demands an audience with me. Why on earth should I care about who you are?"

"Isn't he so insolent?"

Doninic rolled his eyes as he heard Tomas's voice, of course he would never miss out on an opportunity to talk bad about him. "No one asked you to interfere Tomas."

"How dare you address him so nonchalatly?" The rude man said in his defense. "Do you have any idea who he is? Mr Tomas is a very important client here at my company and–"

"Hold on, Why do you keep saying your company? You're just the COO, so why are you acting like it's actually yours?"

The man's eyes widened in shock, because no one knew that he wasn't actually the owner of the company. " W… what are you talking about? " He asked, eyeing Dominic curiously.

"Yeah, what the hell are you saying?" Tomas barked. "Mr Preston is the CEO of the DnD real estates. If you don't know anything, why open your big mouth like an imbecile?"

Dominic smiled, his gaze never leaving the COO. "Do you want me to say it here, or should we go to your office? "

He looked around nervously at Tomas, Maria and then the receptionist who were all watching eagerly, waiting to hear his reply. "L.. let's go to my office." He agreed, an embarrassed frown on his face. "Mr Tomas, please wait for me at the lounge."
