009. VIRTUOUS WOMAN.

THE HOME OF TOMAS DEVILLE.

"Tomas!! Where on earth is that useless boy?!"

"Relax Mr DeVille, I will go and fetch him."

"Please do."

When Tomas was taken to his father's room, the first thing he received was a hard slap across his face. "How dare you?!" The man barked. "Do you have any idea how hard I had to work before you were able to work with the Shay's new branch?! How dare you throw that away like it means nothing?!"

Tomas was confused, because he had not heard of the message. "What ever are you talking about father? I was still there yesterday, and I pitched the idea you asked me to tell the CEO."

"Was that before or after you decided to embarrass me and our entire family?!"

"Father, please make me understand what you're driving at. As far as I'm concerned, there isn't a problem at all."

"Then what do you call this?!" He tossed his cell phone at Tomas who barely caught it, but thankfully he did, or else that could have been another problem for him. "What do you call that if it isn't a problem?!"

Tomas slowly read the message and when he was done, he understood his father's rage. "I.. I don't understand what this means father."

"You don't understand? It means you're an idiot! A Buffon! A useless son! Do you have kelp for brains? Telling me you don't understand."

"No father, I understand what the message means, what I don't understand is why he sent it to me. We didn't have any issues at all so I don't know why he sent this to you."

"Oh, so maybe it's a prank then, the CEO of the DnD real estates is trying to play a prank on me. Is that it?!"

"I don't know father, but I promise you that I will get to the bottom of this. First thing tomorrow morning, I am going to march straight down to the company and demand to know the meaning of this."

"Are you really that dumb? Don't you know what it means when you're banned from stepping foot in a place?"

"Don't you worry father, I will handle this."

"Where's your CEO?" Tomas barked at Anna as he entered the office building.

"Sir, you can't be in here. Please leave before I call the security."

"How dare you?! I'm Tomas DeVille you insolent girl! How dare you address me so rudely?"

"My apologies sir, it's just that you're banned from entering our company and I could lose my job if my boss finds you here. So please, leave."

"I need to have a word with your CEO. Where the hell is Preston? Tell him to see me immediately!"

"I'm afraid he's in an important meeting at the moment, so anything you want to say to him, you can just leave a message with me, and I'll be sure to give him your message once he's done."

"Who the hell are you to ask me to talk to you?! Do you have any idea who I am? I'm very sure this isn't the first time you'll be seeing me here and yet, you're treating me this way. Don't you worry, I'm going to make sure you're punished for your rude behavior. Just wait till I see Preston."

Just then, the office line that laid on her desk rang. "Just a minute sir." She held the device and waited for the instructions. "Sir?, oh… okay, very well sir. Of course, I'll do that right away." After she hung up, she turned her attention back to Tomas and a cocky smile formed on his face.

"You see? He asked me to come up, didn't he? I told you not to mess with me. I told you that—"

"I'm afraid you'll have to leave Mr Tomas."

"I'm sorry, leave? I don't understand. You're walking me out?"

"Not me sir. I just got a call from my boss and he said he wants you to leave immediately."

"This is outrageous!" He yelled, causing Anna to flinch. "How can he ask me to leave just like that? That's just preposterous!" His voice echoed through the halls of the office building. "I am not leaving this place until I see Preston." He paced around angrily, throwing his hands up as he spoke.

"Mr Tomas, I understand that this must be upsetting but please, you can't act like this here. You're starting to cause a scene in our workplace."

"Are you trying to insult me?!"

"Not at all, I believe she's just doing her job." Dominic said from behind him.

"Mr Shay, I'm sorry, I tried to get him to leave but he wouldn't listen."

"It's fine Miss Kimberly."

"What are you doing here loser?" Tomas eyed Dominic with disgust.

"I believe I told you my intentions yesterday. I came here in search of a job, and I got one. Aren't you happy for me?"

"Were you the one who asked them to ban me? It was you, wasn't it?"

"Do you really believe that I have that much power here? I'm flattered."

"Where is Preston?"

"I didn't come here to talk to you Tomas. You're banned, and you being in here means you're trespassing. So I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

"And if I say no?"

"Who said you had an option?" As soon as he said that, two hefty security guards showed up behind him, flanking Dominic on both sides. "Please, see Mr Tomas out of the premises." He said and crossed his arm.

"What! How dare you!"

"Sir, please co operate." One of the men said as they approached Tomas. They both held him by his arm and no matter how hard he struggled, neither of them released their hold on him. They carried him and dropped him right outside, while he kept screaming about how he was the son of an important personnel and how he was going to make Preston pay for betraying him.

"I'm really sorry about that Mr Shay." Anna apologized after he was gone.

"Don't worry about it. Though I wish you would stop addressing me so formally, remember to everyone else, I am just an intern working under the CEO, so you're supposed to address as you would do any of your co workers. okay?"

"Okay sir. I'll do my best to adjust."

"Thank you. Preston still isn't done with his meeting?"

"I'm afraid so sir. He said he had something really urgent he needed to take care of, so he stepped out for a while this morning. And when the client showed up, she had to wait for almost an hour before he arrived."

"Hmm okay. Is this something he does often? Leaving work during working hours?"

"Well sir, um—"

"I'm not going to fire him or anything, I just need to know so I can address the issue."

"Okay. Well sometimes he claims he does home service."

"What?"

"Yeah. He goes to the client's home instead of having them come here."

"Home service? What does he think this place is? Okay thanks. Let him know after he's done that I need to see him."

"Okay sir."

"So Miss Fallon, clearly you are the perfect partner for this little company of mine." Preston said, a broad grin on his face.

"Oh thank you so much Mr Adams."

"Please, I already told you, just call me Preston."

"Right, and you can just call me Ciara as well."

"Ciara, if I may ask, are you married?"

"Yes." She answered truthfully, then she added. "But if I'm being honest, it wasn't my choice."

"Oh I see, a terrible choice?"

"I apologize but I don't see the point in discussing my marriage with you."

"Right, my apologies. I was just just wondering if you would be interested in trying things out with a rather… competent man."

"Are you suggesting I have an affair with you? Is that the kind of woman you take me for?"

"Of course not, I was only trying to say—"

"That you won't sign the deal unless I offer my body to you? You should be ashamed of yourself." She picked up her purse and stormed out of the office.

Ciara didn't stop until she reached her car. After shutting the door and putting her seatbelt on, she pulled out the business card she had received from Preston and tore it to shreds.

If this was the kind of man he was, then she would rather not have any business with his company, regardless of what her family might say.
