Chapter 14.

Her smile dipped, she wasn't expecting to meet Michael, she had assumed that he must have run off crying to their grandmother after she had called and scolded her, she squinted her eyes at him and raised her brows. When she realized he wasn't only glaring at her but also at something or someone behind her, she made to turn,

She hoped it wasn't Mr. Ethan; she had left him in his office and hadn't realized he was following her; smiling, she turned to acknowledge him, and as she turned, her eyes nearly popped out of the sockets, her mouth agape as she gazed at him. She almost faltered in her steps, but for his timely intervention as he quickly grabbed at her elbow,

“Careful now," his sweet voice told her, and Faith blinked at him, her mouth forming an o,

‘What was he doing here? How had he been behind her without knowing? How come he had entrance to the company, yet Michael hadn't been let through?’

As she blinked at him, her mind was reeling with various questions. She snapped her mouth shut as she gaped at him, looking him over,

“J-jas Jason, what are you doing here?"

Her eyes darted around the reception before they rested on him again, he smiled and shrugged,

“I had to be here, was waiting for you so I could be here for you when you finish"

His words and expression warmed Faith's heart, but before she could respond Michael stormed over to them, breaking their reverie,

“You ruined our only chance right?! You're as inept as your looks!" Michael roared, glaring at Faith, he snapped his eyes in Jason's direction and sneered,

“And you! What the hell are you doing in this building you filthy pig?!” he asked Jason while glaring at him with disdain, looking at Jason from his head to toes with curling lips,

Jason stared at him and smiled, his eyes glinting. He found himself enjoying Michael's little embarrassing moment, the dude was too full of himself, and he was certain the little stint Ethan had pulled had really dampened Michael's mood.

Michael scowled further and snarled,

“Stop smiling like a hyena, you fool, and answer my damn question! What the hell is someone like you doing in Greenlife Group?!” He demanded in a loud voice, almost drawing an audience to himself,

Jason's eyes gleamed as he replied simply,

“I work a few buildings away, and I decided to come to check on Faith since I know she'd be here"

Michael scoffed and sneered at the same time,

“Ah! A fool like you that's jobless?! What sort of work? I'm certain it has to be cleaning; you're a cleaner, and maybe that's why you were allowed in here, as you must also be a cleaner here!"

With his arms loosely at his sides, Jason bent his neck to gaze at the mumbling fool. The fact that he was referred to as a cleaner was preposterous, but he didn't owe Michael or anyone else an explanation,

"If you think so. Perhaps, it's what makes you sleep at night”

“Don't be so haughty you bastard! I'm not surprised; people like you, with nothing to show, are too puffed up to bring themselves down and ask for help. You better speak, and let's see if Grandmother would let you work as a clerk in our company, you baseless fool!”

Michael retorted, causing Faith to sigh deeply; she had been happy earlier, but now the mood had been significantly dampened, and she didn't know what to do. Rubbing her palms over her suit, she lifted her head to her cousin,

“It's ok Michael, don't let us do this here. Let's leave, we have to return to Reynoldz.”
