CHAPTER 115Jack returned back home that day from the commissioner’s office in anger. He stormed into his room with Mildred behind him trying to pacify him.“Calm down Bro. We’ll find a way to stop them. I promise,” Mildred said calmly.Jack went straight to the bar in his room, pouring himself a full glass of vodka and drinking it down in one go. He slammed the empty glass on the table.“I know…..but how?” He replied.“What if we start our own search for the treasure? We could get leads from the Greyjoys on where we could begin our search,” Mildred.Jack frowned. The Greyjoys have had the island for over three centuries and have been searching for the treasure and never found it. It was likely they had exhausted any leads they had and even Lampton Greyjoy seemed to believe the treasure didn’t exist.“They’re not going to be of much help. The old man doesn’t even believe the damn thing exists,” Jack replied.“But what if he is right, what if Micheal Smith is just on a fool’s errand?”“
CHAPTER 116Why would Alicia do a thing like that? It baffled Jack. Did she want to have some alone time and was getting choked up because of the guards he had following her around? But it was for her own safety and even if she had a problem with it, she could have discussed it with him, rather than having to disguise and leave.“Are you sure about this?” Jack asked again, still trying to fathom a reason why Alicia would wear a disguise to escape her guards.“I’m one hundred percent certain boss and I checked a backlog of CCTV footage from every time she had ever visited the restaurant and it was all the same thing. She would go to the restroom, disguise as a disabled woman with a shawl over her face and leave,” the guard added. Was there a pattern here? Jack wondered. Did Alicia have an ulterior motive? He never really bothered to check her background. He believed the story he was told. Jack wondered if he had allowed himself to be carried away by first, her wit and then by her body.
CHAPTER 117 Alicia was safely secured in a room under lock and key and guards were placed outside her door. The room was a comfortable one, full of luxury and exquisite taste in furniture and design but she felt very distraught and uncomfortable. She was in deep regret and anguish. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying and her cheeks were still flushed with tears.Even though none of this was entirely her fault as she was and has always been a pawn in Bethany’s evil game, she couldn’t help but blame herself. She had every chance to come clean, every chance to tell Jack the truth but she didn’t.Right now, she just wished for one chance, one chance to see Jack again before she is hauled off to russia. One chance to apologise for deceiving him and leading him on when she had other plans for him and the company he was building for them. She had fallen deeply in love with Jack over the past few months. Even before she got into Jack’s bed, she had secretly been harbouring feelings for
CHAPTER 118Jack and his men swung into full action the minute Jack gave the order. He did not know what to expect but one thing was sure, he was going to get the truth from Alicia one way or the other. As they got closer to the heavily guarded mansion in Belleview where they had traced the SUV to, Eagle backed out orders to the men.“Everyone be on high alert. Van 1, Van 2, take the flank and surround the four walls of the building. No one goes in and no one comes out and if they have to, it better be fucking through you,” He ordered. They were riding in a total of six armoured sprinter vans minus the armoured SUV that Jack and eagle were riding in. They had ten men in each of the vans. “Vans 3,4 and 5, we are going in together. Van 6, you stay as back up and call for more men if we need more. Everyone clear on their orders?” Eagle asked again through the walkie talkie, his eyes fixed on the road as he manoeuvred the car with one hand on the steering wheel.“Yes sir,” All six vehicle
CHAPTER 119 Jack had only ten men left and about fifty of Bethany’s men were still lodged inside the mansion. She knew she had Jack outgunned and outnumbered and there was nothing Jack could do to get himself out of the fix he just got himself into. Bethany had gotten someone willing to do her bidding regarding the AI weapon she was planning to build through Alicia’s software but she had learnt about Jack’s trouble with the Carters and chaos was where she got her bread and butter. “It’s quite an impressive show you have put on Jack Bolton but it ends right here, right now,” She said, chuckling and applauding as she came out of the house. Jack immediately recognized her as the woman who had complimented him and Alicia that day as a couple and later defended him against those armed men. He remembered asking Alicia to look into her and never getting any feedback. Could they have been working together? Now that he thought about it, it was unlike Alicia to not carry out his request wit
CHAPTER 120Bethany had learned about Jack’s issue with the Island from Alicia and she had done her own work to see what it was all about and a way that she could profit from the chaos. She knew Jack was at a crossroads and the promise of possibly getting a part of the treasure was luring to her.Once she found a russian investor to fund Alicia’s project under her own terms, her next move was to make an ally out of Jack and make money for herself from him by baiting him with help on the Island and his treasure, provided she got something in return. If Jack disagreed, her next move was to capture and torture him to death, so he doesnt pose more problems for her.“Let me ask you a question Jack. What is more important to you right now? A woman who lied to and used you or your new Island and the treasure hidden deep beneath its caves?” Bethany asked with a mischievous smile on her face, stepping down from the veranda and walking slowly towards Jack.Jack frowned when he heard her words, t
CHAPTER 121The glow around Jack’s feet continued to grow and spread all around him. Some of Bethany’s men stood in awe of what their eyes were witnessing and fear gripped a majority of them. “What are you standing and looking at him for? Kill him! Kill him!” Bethany yelled in subtle fear and vivid astonishment. She could not believe what her eyes were seeing. She had heard of humans having mystical and magical powers but in all her years of reigning supreme over the crime world, she had never come in contact with one.She pushed one of her men who was watching as Jack’s body turned into a full glow and took his gun from him, yelling and shooting at him frantically. “Die. Die. Die. Die, you son of a bitch!”Jack’s eyes turned fully black. He felt an odd sensation rise from the sole of his feet to the crown of his head. He felt light, almost like he was floating mid air but a surge of power, great and electryfying power was corsing through every cell in his body, he could feel it in ev
CHAPTER 122Alicia scoffed in Bethany’s face. A defiant and rebellious look etched deep in her eyes. “You think I’m scared to die? I would gladly welcome it with open arms. Do it. Kill me. Kill me, except you are fucking coward hiding behind a fake mask of bravery. Do itt, I dare you,” The tone of her voice was even more rebellious than the look in her eyesBethany frowned deeply. Alicia was her cash cow. She was the one person whose life Bethany probably valued more than hers. Even earlier when she threatens to kill her in front of Jack, it was a bluff to get Jack to back off.“I will kill you but for now, I just need you quiet,” Bethany said, about to smash Alicia’s head with the side of her gun to render her unconscious when a hand suddenly grabbed her and threw her three feet away from Alicia, sending her crashing into the wall behind her and making her lose the gun and the remote detonator she was holding.Eagle smirked. “I would have enjoyed killing you but for some reason, the
