Emma paced the length of the dimly lit room, her fists clenched as tension rippled between her and Victor. The weight of their recent battles still loomed over them, but now Victor was focused on something far more personal—his need for revenge against his grandfather.

“Victor, it was *years* ago,” Emma’s voice was tight, trying to stay calm, but her eyes betrayed her desperation. “We’ve moved on. Dragging this back up will only make it worse. We’ve got bigger problems now.”
