“What do you think I am?” she growled turning her hands into a fist.

Richardson could see that he had made a mistake and tried to clarify the issue.

“I don’t know what you’re thinking about, but it’s not what you think.”

“What do you mean you would pay me to go out with you? Do you think I am a sex worker?!”

“Okay, first off, reduce your high tones. We are having a conversation not a fight. And secondly, I am not paying you to go out with me. I am paying you for something else entirely.”

That seemed to calm the enraged woman who was now comfortable with him.

“You should have led with that,” she sighed, releasing her tender shoulders. “You really should work on your conversation starters.”
