The Woodsman and The Elven Princes

Chapter 5

When I walked alone, someone or maybe something followed me. I didn’t even care about it, I thought it was Myrdin who followed me. But, I was already shrouded in anger and focusing on finding my way home. After miles away, the rustle in the bushes keeps distracting. So, I turned my head and started asking, “Who is that?” 

But no one answered my question, “Myrdin?” Because there was no answer, I felt something strange. 

I continue walking, finding my way home. I walked a little bit fast while feeling something behind me. My heart beat so fast and made me feel scared. Automatically, my feet run faster and faster but I cannot find the way out from this forest. 

“Sh*t!” I screamed and cursed for myself. “Myrdin, help!” Unconsciously I called Myrdin for help but I knew Myrdin won’t hear it. 

I tripped over a rock and it made my elbow dirty. The rustle still followed me, I could see the bushes keep swaying. I stared at it with googly eyes, and pulled my body back. I saw the shadow appearing before the shape jumped to me. The creature looked so ugly, it had hair all over the body, two horns, walked a little bit like monkey, and had a creepy face. 

“W-who are y-you?” Asked me while crawling back. 

I didn’t want to see the creature in front of me, because it looked so ugly and scared me actually. Not long after that, that creature died with a head severed. I was so shocked while the thick-green blood splashed all over my face. 

“Are you okay?” Face of Myrdin appears behind the dead body of that ugly creature. 

I didn’t answer Myrdin’s question because I still couldn’t process what just happened. Myrdin kicked the corpse over the edge before stepping in front of me. Myrdin reached out his hand for me to help. I accepted his hand and pulled my back up until I stood up. I wiped my face with my own clothes and felt disgusting. Myrdin walked back without talking to me. 

“Myrdin!” Shouted and ran after him. “Help me to find the way back,” said me while walking with him. 

Myrdin didn’t even answer and kept walking. I felt ignored, so I decided to stop in front of him. “Myrdin, stop! Please, help me to find my way home.” I begged. “I don’t want to be here, that scary creature… I don’t want to live in this strange world. I want to go home.” 

Myrdin saw me with a flat face and stopped his steps. “I will help you to go home, after you help me in this world. Deal?” 

I was thinking hard about that offering. I really didn’t want to stay here, even though the place looked so beautiful but all the creatures were so weird and creepy. With a heavy breath, “Okay, okay… but, send me home after that.” I was pointing my finger right into his face. 

“Deal!” Without hesitation, Myrdin nods. 

We shook hands together, before the bushes started to rustle again. We stopped and looked around, and those creatures came again. Not only one, but many. My heart beat so fast and started panicking. Myrdin eyes changed, his green eyes looked very sharp and took out a bow and arrow from his back. Reflexively, I hid behind Myrdin's big body. Myrdin started to kill them with his arrow. The creatures, called Krampus, kept coming and made Myrdin overwhelmed. 

"Come on!" He dragged me to run as fast as I can while he keep attacking those Krampus.

I ran without looking back, I believed that Myrdin could protect me. "Go back to the waterfall!" He ordered. 

"Got it!" I answered. 

I already saw the waterfall, "We are here!" I shouted with a big smile. 

Myrdin couldn't answer me, but he was still behind me. Myrdin ran towards me, "Come on, I ran out of arrows!" 

My feet started to slow down and I left a little bit behind. I looked back and saw that Krampus kept chasing us. I tried my best, but I couldn't. Myrdin noticed and ran back to me. "Can you fight?" He asked with stern eyes. 

"I don't know." Because I have never fight before.

"Take this." Myrdin gave me a dagger. "You must fight, if you don't want to die." 

Myrdin jumped back to the forest and killed Krampus with his bow. I didn't have a choice except to fight. A Krampus came to me and I started to swing the dagger. It stabbed the heart of Krampus and he died. I was shocked but Myrdin saw it, "Good job!" He smiled proudly and finally we fought together.
