Chapter 4

Where is my father?

Zachary kept stealing glances at the old man as they rode in his Rolls Royce. His bodyguards followed behind. They were heading to the old Mansion where Kelvin and his wife reside. Seeing the look on his face, Kelvin said to him.

"Not to worry, Son, we will soon be there." Kelvin broke the awkward silence between them.

Zachary smiled and hummed.

The Old mansion was magnificent. It looked like a King's place with lots of guards standing at different angles. The security detail was really strong as they had passed different sets of guards.

Any common person would have a very hard time passing through those gates.

Alighting from the car, Zachary was awed.

The place was a wonder.

Zachary feasted his eyes with the beauty before him. He hadn't ever thought that in his lifetime, he would ever have an opportunity to enter such a place.

Kelvin let him Gawk for a while before saying.

"It's your New home Son."

"Huh." Zachary didn't know when he said that. His mouth was still open when Kelvin continued.

"That is if you wish to stay with me and your Nana. If you don't, then you can choose one of my Villas at Bay City as your new home"

Zachary was stunned.

He was now his choice to make. This was too good to be true.

"A Villa in Bay City?" He managed to utter.

Kelvin nodded in acknowledgement.

"Come on, let's head inside. Your Nana has been waiting for us."

"Nana?"

Zachary gave him a questioning look.

"Yes, your Nana would be so happy to meet you. She had pestered me to search for you immediately we found out about it.

As they approached the living room, Benedict, Kelvin's right hand man greeted them.

"Welcome Boss. You finally brought him home. I wanted to bring him to you, but you choose to do it yourself."

Kelvin smiled and nodded. "It's fine Ben. I wanted to bring my grandson home myself. Moreover, I needed you to handle things here at home."

Benedict smiled and turned to Zachary. "Welcome home, young master."

Zachary hummed in response.

The house keepers also welcomed him warmly with a bow. Everyone was treating him like a King.

It was a rare sight to behold as it seemed to Zachary like he was dreaming.

Heading to the dinning, they met with Mrs Paddington and Mrs Cooper the cook serving lunch.

On sighting Kelvin and Zachary approaching. May Paddington quickly left all she was doing and rushed towards them.

With tears of joy dripping down her face, she touched Zachary's face with so much love.

Zachary just looked at her blankly. Does she really miss him so much that it made her cry.

Zachary smiled at her as she pulled him to an embrace.

"My Son." She called out with a voice mixed with joy and regret.

"I'm so sorry you had to go through so much pain and suffering because we were ignorant of your existence.Don't worry my son. Now that you're here, I will try my best to make up for all the time you got deprived of your rightful place."

Again, she pulled him to another series of hugs and finally let go while dragging him to a seat for lunch.

Zachary perceived the pleasant aroma of the food and only realized he was starving.

He also thought of how selfless and humble Kelvin was. He had been with him at the hospital throughout the surgery process without eating anything.

He must be very hungry.

At Kelvin's study, Zachary sat opposite Kelvin staring like a lost sheep. Everything was still strange to him. Standing close to Kelvin, Benedict went ahead to pour out some whiskey for him. He also offered to serve Zachary some drinks but he declined. He was only interested in finding out how he was related to the old man before him.

He was really curious to find out the truth. He had questions like.

Who is his father? And why has his name not been mentioned to him?

Is he still alive or already dead?

Why did he not marry his mother?

Did he abandon her after getting her pregnant?

These were some of the questions on his head and he needed the answers as soon as possible.

Kelvin took a sip and cleared his throat before he began.

Observing him closely, Kelvin thought Zachary and him had a resemblance. Zachary had his blue eyes and jawline.

He smiled to himself.

"Zachary, I know you have a lot of questions going on in your head. However, I can only answer the ones I have the answers to. When your grandfather recovers, then you can ask him the ones I didn't give you the answers to."

Zachary listened with rapt attention and nodded in response.

"You See." Kelvin continued. Your father, who happens to be my son, had told me recently after all these years about his relationship with a certain Miss Sandra Michael twenty five years ago."

He took another sip from his whiskey and continued.

"If I had known this earlier, I would not have let any of my blood grow up outside the confines of the environment."

He stood up and walked around the study. Looking at Benedict who shook his head as if trying to tell him something.

Zachary followed their gazes and saw how they tried to communicate with their eyes.

Being Kelvin's right hand man, Benedict was like a brother to him. They have been together for as long as any of them could remember.

Therefore, Benedict practically knows everything about the family.

Turning to Zachary, he said. "My son, your father has made a lot of mistakes, and getting your mother pregnant and abandoning her to fate was one of them.

"I haven't had the opportunity to enquire from your grandfather how your mother died. But, I have this question I would like you to answer me.

"Would you be able to forgive your father?"

Zachary's face grew red with anger. He imagined how much his mother had suffered before her untimely death. The emotional pain of abandonment, neglect.

He stared at Kelvin and Benedict indifferently, as though they were their enemies.

Kelvin just let him be. It was an emotional moment so Zachary needed the time to accept the revelation that had just been made to him.

Zachary's eyes were red from suppressing the tears. He suddenly stood up and spoke for the first time.

"Where is my father?"
