Chapter 6

"Are you with Thrain, Mark?" Alex asked.

"No," Mark replied, sounding unsure. "I've tried calling him, but he's not picking up. Why do you ask?"

"Ethan said he was waiting for him," Alex explained.

"Wait! Where the fuck are you calling from?" Mark asked, trying to figure out Ethan's location.

"Obviously, I'm calling from the woods," Ethan replied.

"If Alex hasn't seen Thrain, then... he's in danger," they both concluded.

"Hey man! Send me your location, and I'll be there as soon as possible." Mark's phone beeped as he picked up the pace after receiving the location. "Mom! I'll be back," Mark shouted as he dashed out of the house.

Mr. Harrison removed the newspaper from his face and watched as Mark hurriedly left the house. "Isn't Mark slowly becoming just like you? Leaving home around midnight? For Christ's sake, today is a special day."

Thrain's howl echoed throughout the area. "Finally, I found you," he said as he transformed into a humanoid wolf, increasing his speed as he sprinted through the woods. All his senses and abilities heightened as the full moon approached.

Just as Lisa loaded the gun with silver bullets and aimed it at Thrain's head, she felt a sense of accomplishment rush through her. She placed her finger on the trigger.

As she pulled the trigger, Thrain caught sight of the action and sprinted even faster. In one swift motion, he reached her, picked her up, and a gunshot rang out.

"Alex!" Thrain exclaimed, relieved to have been saved. But as he looked up at the figure, it wasn't Alex. "Who are you?" he asked, beginning to panic.

"Don't worry, Alex sent me," the figure responded, looking at Thrain. "Can you move?"

"Obviously not, I've been hit by a tranquilizer dart," Thrain whispered.

"Fuck! This is going to be harder than I anticipated. Women are scarier when they have a silver bullet in their possession," the figure muttered.

"What are you going to do? It's almost midnight, and I apologize for being a burden to you," Thrain said, feeling down.

"Even alphas are wary of silver bullets," the figure remarked.

Lisa, annoyed by their game of hide and seek, shouted, "Come out! Face me like the true wild animal you are, or... are you afraid?" She tried to provoke them both.

"Fuck! What can I do in this situation?" the figure pondered anxiously.

Suddenly, another figure crept up to them and said, "As an alpha werewolf, you can transform at will," the newcomer stated.

Immediately, Zane bared his fangs at the newcomer's neck.

"Mark!" Thrain barely managed to say.

"Do you know him?" Zane asked.

"He's a good friend of mine whom I entrusted with all my secrets, but he vanished when I needed him the most," Thrain explained.

"I'm sorry about that. I'll give you a reasonable explanation later. Let's focus on getting out of this situation first," Mark said.

Mark began to observe their surroundings, taking note of their location as well as the woman's position.

"Alpha, it's barely close to the full moon," he said, looking up at the sky. "You don't have to worry about getting hit by the bullet once it's the full moon; you'll naturally heal from any type of silver."

"Are you crazy or something?" Zane blurted out, his voice barely above a whisper.

"You can trust him," Thrain stated affirmatively.

"Fuck! I can't believe I'm doing this," Zane thought as his eyes glowed red. He transformed from a humanoid wolf into a seven-foot-tall monster, his fangs bared and fur sprouting from his body.

He grabbed onto Thrain and Mark, and at an insane speed, he began to run for their escape.

As the leaves rustled due to their wild movements, Lisa caught sight of their location. "There you are," she said, as she began shooting at them uncontrollably.

After running for a minute, they finally escaped the clutches of the fearless woman, Lisa.

Annoyed and riled up, Lisa couldn't get her hands on the werewolves. She packed her suitcase and departed from the woods.

Finally, they arrived at their hideout. It was barely two minutes until the full moon. Thrain and Mark were both surprised, and their hearts pounded in their chests. It would be the first time they had seen so many werewolves gathered in one place. Werewolves of all sizes and builds came together, their eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"Thank you, Zane," Alex said, striding forward with authority. "Hmm, you got shot by a silver bullet?" he asked, noticing Zane revert back to his human form and collapse to the ground, blood flowing from his right shoulder.

Mark stepped forward, examining the bullet wound and said, "It's almost the full moon, it will naturally regenerate. You need not worry about it, just get the bullet out before then."

Zane signaled to two of his betas, and they got him laid on a table to remove the bullet. He groaned in pain as his body fought against the toxicity of the bullet.

Two of Alex's betas responded to his signal as they unveiled Ethan and Fiona.

"What! They both were bitten?" Thrain exclaimed, but to his surprise, he too was dragged and tied up to a pillar.

"Welcome, Thrain," Alex said. "Tonight, you three shall experience your transformation for the first time. Remember, Thrain, you're an omega, the lowest rank in our pack. I want you to prove your worth, and you may find your place in this pack."

"What about those two?" Thrain asked, referring to Ethan and Fiona.

"They are betas," Alex replied as he strode forward and locked eyes with Thrain. His voice reverberated through the space.

Thrain nodded, feeling vulnerable due to the restraints restricting his movements. The full moon finally reached its zenith, casting a mesmerizing glow that enveloped the space and intensified the atmosphere. The werewolves' howls merged, forming a chorus that reverberated through the woods.

Thrain began to feel a sudden surge of energy coursing through his veins and body. He clenched his fists as he fought against the bindings for freedom. His bones snapped and rearranged, his muscles rippled and expanded as his body underwent its first-ever transformation into a full werewolf.

Ethan and Fiona's transformations didn't take long. Their eyes glowed with a golden color, their bodies became hairy, and their snarls became refined. They had finally adapted to their new form, accepting who they had become and embracing the mission of the pack without restraint.

On the other hand, Thrain was still in the process of metamorphosing. His limbs elongated, covered in a silvery fur, with fangs crackling through his gums, and his senses sharpened. Thrain slowly welcomed the newfound power within, but the restraints prevented him from fully breaking free, rendering him partially restrained.

Thrain's howl was a mix of pain and determination as he continued to fight against the raw power coursing through him. The whole pack watched intently, their glowing eyes filled with curiosity and questions.

Alex moved closer to Thrain, his voice cutting through his howls. "A true werewolf does not rely solely on strength; they adapt and overcome obstacles," he said. "Prove yourself, Thrain, free yourself from those chains."

Thrain's eyes glowed gold as he continued to embrace his raw strength. His partially transformed claw slightly slashed against the chains. The entire pack observed, witnessing Thrain's tenacity and resilience.

Finally, the remaining chains broke, freeing him from his restraints. Thrain stood tall, fully transformed, his primal aura blending with an unwavering determination.

But something extraordinary happened. As Thrain locked eyes with Alex, silently conveying his readiness to prove his worth, his eyes slowly changed from gold to purple.

"Holy shit, he just evolved from being an omega!" Mark shouted.

The five alphas in the pack, including Alex and Zane, gathered in front of Thrain. The entire pack of Infinite Growlers witnessed Thrain evolve from an omega through sheer force of will. The five alphas howled, their enthusiasm spreading among the pack as they all joined in, forming a symphony of chorus.

It was a melodious moment that made Mark shout at the top of his voice, "A sigma, the protector of alphas, has graced us with his presence!"

Thrain raised his head high, his howl echoing through the woods, a symbol of his acceptance and determination to rise above his limits as a werewolf.

This was an occurrence that happened once every decade, similar to becoming a true alpha. Sigmas were considered the protectors of alphas, and if their will became stronger with a sense of purpose, they would evolve into true alphas and eventually into zetas.

Zetas, also known as the rulers of the wolves, are considered the alpha of alphas.

THE ALPHA OF ALPHA'S.
