Chapter 9

Derrick was in his house again, this time with the box in his hand.

"mother, I'm back and I have the box or whatever. "

He called out for her.

He sat down and then placed the box on the table in front of him and leaned back on the chair as he looked at the book.

"mother! "

He called again, already getting impatient.

'just what could be in the box and why was his family crest on it?' he thought to himself.

"seems she's not in " he said and then shrugged before he sat up and reached for the box.

"I'll just do this without her. "

He opened the box and brought out everything inside it.

"a cube, a diary, a key, some funny looking liquid in a bottle, a pebble and a key "

He said, naming the contents of the box as he placed them on the table.

"that's it? " he asked disappointedly.

He took the box apart and could find nothing else inside and he knocked the box away.

"here I was expecting something that would help me win Tanya over. Maybe a priceless jewelry or something. But I hit just old pieces of junk"

He looked at them with disgust.

"mother should come explain herself, I hate these old lifestyle of hers."

He said as he got up and and went to his room upstairs, leaving everything on the table for his mother.

Tanya returned back home and the first person she met was her grand mother.

"how did it go with the police? " Mrs Fei asked her grand daughter Tanya.

Tanya sighed and just went to the couch to sit.

"just the usuals, I made a report and they said they'd get back to me "

Tanya rested her head back to relax. Mrs Fei came closer to her

"so did they say they will look for him or something?" she asked Tanya

"I don't know, they just said they'd get back to me. "

Tanya answered weakly.

"the police here can be so unreliable. " Mrs Fei added.

"why are you so concerned all of a sudden? " Tanya asked as she noticed.

Mrs Fei flinched because of the question but it wasn't noticeable.

"well you're my grand daughter and I don't want you all beat up and sad, Even if it's for that bastard." she lied.

"he is my husband ma"

"I know, I know. And I want the best for you. Have you called Derrick lately? "

"No , enough of Derrick " Tanya said and got up already weary of the conversation.

"oh relax Tanya, I've made a few calls and I have people out searching for him. They will find him." Mrs Fei reassured.

"thank you ma, I appreciate the help. I will just go have a nap now, bye"

Tanya said and then went to her room to sleep.

As Tanya left, Mrs Fei sighed in displeasure since Taizai was not yet found. .

"where did you go bastard, my head is on the line here" she cursed with a heavy expression on her face as she spoke to herself.

"just what do they want with the insignificant Taizai? He's not rich, no fame, no martial art or family heirloom, just what? "

She tried desperately to wrap her fingers around the situation and But she could not just understand what was going on.

Her phone rang, distracting her from her thoughts and she took the phone to answer it.

"tell me you have something ? "

She asked the moment she answered the phone.

"I do, but we still haven't found him yet " a Male voice replied.

"then why are you calling me? , I pay you to find him not make calls!" Mrs Fei snapped angrily at the person on the phone.

"I'm sorry, just felt that you needed to know. But he was reported to have been in a hospital for a few days, but he woke up and hurried off to somewhere some hours ago"

The person reported.

"where is that? " Fei asked

"it's the tau-wan district ma'am"

"why will he be that far out. Spread your men in that vicinity and don't call me back until you find him. " she ordered

"yes ma'am"

the voice said.

Mrs Fei dropped her phone and started thinking

'what will he be doing in such a place. In a hospital no less? '

'I have contacts in tau-wan, I should call them'

She suggested to her self.

Mason opened his eyes and it was immediately bombarded with the sun and he forcefully closed them again.

It took a while for his eyes to adjust to the light and then he opens them again slowly.

His head was throbbing since he had a massive headache and it was like all part of his body hurt.

"my body hurts so much " he muttered to himself as he groaned and struggled to sit up right.

The events of last night flashed into his end and he immediately checked himself hurriedly

He held his neck and felt the pin that was lounge there and he began to panic.

"why am I not dead? " he asked himself.

He turned to find something and he saw the body of the thief that was killed last night.

Mason crawled to his body and examined it carefully, trying to understand why he was still alive.

He checked the man's neck and saw the pin in there, he took it out and compared it with his and saw that there was a difference.

The pin in the man was short why his was longer and he could only assume that the pin used for him was just to put him to sleep.

He checked his pockets and saw that the rest of the items he got was still there and he sighed in relief.

"I lost just the Cube. What could be so special about the cube that they wanted it so much and even killed for it? " He asked himself as he struggled to get up.

"anyway, I'm glad I'm alive. I should get back home. "

He managed to get up and then began staggering home.
