Hearing Damien words Jessica blinked, caught completely off guard by Damien’s cold and sharp response.

She had expected him to be distant, maybe even annoyed, but this? This was different.

The way he spoke—flat, uninterested, almost irritated—made it painfully clear.

He doesn’t want to be here.

He doesn’t even want to see her.

At that moment her fingers twitched slightly, pressing against her lap as a strange wave of unease washed over her. She suddenly felt like a fool for calling him, for insisting on this meeting when, deep down, she already knew the answer.

Then her throat went dry. Her mind scrambled for words.

“I-I—” she started, then stopped.

Her fingers curled tighter.

However Damien’s gaze was steady, unreadable. He wasn’t going to help her out of this. He was waiting.

Jessica swallowed hard, her voice barely coming out properly.

“I-I mean… I already asked you before but…”

Her voice faltered again, her nerves making her stammer worse. She forced a deep breath, trying to reg

I didn’t know what I was doing then, and I’m sorry.”Damien let out a slow breath before turning his head slightly to glance at her. “No problem,” he

To the inner circle of the military’s special division. You shouldn’t even know it exists!”Damien’s expression didn’t flinch.“I know,” he said coldly again. “Because I was the one who invented it.”Again London’s brother’s breath caught. His knees almost buckled. At that moment Damien stepped forward, slow and calm. “You’ve done some tweaking—some interesting modifications. I’ll give you that. But the core technique? The foundations? You didn’t flinch. That says a lot.”He stepped in a slow circle, boots crunching over broken crate pieces.“You’re not from here, are you?” he asked coldly. “No. I see that now. He didn’t need to be told twice—his presence was no longer needed. Then London’s brother spoke, his voice calm, low, but heavy with authority.“I don’t have all day,” he said, coldly. “This has taken too long already.”His tone wasn’t loud.
