“That’s an awesome power! I can control things with my mind like the smart villains in the comics, I love it!” Birdy’s excitement reached a whole new heights after reading the description of the telekinesis skill.
Telekinesis skill tree: mentally manipulate and interact with objects or matter, can levitate, move, or directly control an object without the need of physical interaction, the amount of manipulation will depend on the size and weight of the object. Can be used on the user to levitate or move in the air, the speed and height will depend on the mental power of the user.
Adam reading the description of the telekinesis skill, found it somewhat different from how the game described the Gyrokinesis skill. ‘maybe they needed emphasis on the idea that the skill is limited.’ He correctly thought, as the telekinesis skill was widely known to be overpowered, it had to be limited, otherwise no one would ever choose any other skill if they can just control everything with their mind.
“Okay! I’m now ready! Next up they gonna let us test our skills before entering the game! It’s called the skill tutorial.”
After Birdy clicked the confirmation button, a window appeared in front of them both.
Would you like to start the tutorial for the skill?
They both clicked yes simultaneously, Adam thought it’s a good opportunity to actually know how similar the gravitational fields in the game with what he can produce in real life.
They were both transferred to a white room, that gradually filled with multiple objects and targets, on the walls of the room there were all kinds of weapons, gadgets, and tools, they could test more then the skill in this room, they could test the best weapon for them as well.
(Welcome to the testing chamber, here you can test the effects of your Gyrokinesis powers.)
Each of them had a different message play in their heads with different artificial voices, the voices guided them on how to activate and use their respective skills.
(To use your Gyrokinesis power at level zero, you need to physically touch the target. Please touch the training dummy.)
“What!” Adam was furious. “what does touch have to do with gravitational fields?! That’s not scientifically accurate!” Birdy heard Adam’s anger and he startled and lost focus, which resulted in dropping the glass of water he was trying to move with his telekinetic powers.
“Is your skill bad? Should we start over?” Birdy asked in apologetic tone, even though he didn’t do anything wrong, he introduced the game to Adam and it was his idea to play it together, so he felt that it would be his fault if Adam didn’t like the game.
“No! Just disappointed in the scientific reference here! What about you?” Adam didn’t have much hope to actually find it the same, but at least some resemblance would’ve been nice and helpful for his training.
“I like it so much! Look! I can throw stuff at the enemy’s!” Birdy’s smile returned to his face slowly as he threw the water glass that just manifested on the table using his telekinesis.
“I don’t think throwing a water glass at the enemy would do more then make them wet! Why don’t you try a throwing knife!”
He didn’t even think twice about the idea, Birdy opened a holographic list, and scrolled for a while, and then two small black throwing knives materialized in both of his hands, and a belt appeared around his waist with many more of the small sharp knives.
Would you like to start the tutorial for the weapon?
A window appeared in front of him the moment he materialized the weapons, every weapon and skill In the game had a tutorial, and even the tools and gadgets did, to go through all these tutorials a player would need a few hours.
Half an hour later, Birdy fell from the sky on his face, glowing in a radiant blue light that slowly dimmed until it disappeared completely, that light was the protection provided by the game for the first 10 seconds of Each new journey, and the actual reason for it is that the players would literally fall from the sky to begin the game.
Adam on the other hand, slowly descended gracefully, landing on his feet, with his hand in the pockets of the leather armor pants, he was wearing a black leather jacket with a small dagger in his belt, these were the initial equipment provided by the game, every player would start with a level zero armor and weapon, no matter the shape or the type of armor it would all be a little more than useless.
“Why didn’t you use your skill to slow down!”
“We can do that?!” his eyes widened as he slowly stood up and dusted him self, he was wearing an armor similar to Adam’s, with a few differences here and there, instead of a dagger though, he had five throwing knives on his belt.
“I think we should head to the town we saw on the way down! Maybe we would get a clue to a treasure or something.” Birdy started walking north of their location, he trembled and fell with the first step he took.
Using an avatar with different body proportions then the player’s real body meant that the player would have to get used to the new body first, and that was actually the reason Adam used his real appearance, and also the reason that the game’s avatar randomizer would never change the body proportions.
Birdy didn’t have any idea that this would happen. “Why can’t I walk properly! Is there something wrong with the game!”
“You need to get used to the body you are in, it’s twice your normal size! I think it would take you about 10 minutes to start walking again”
“W*...” Birdy didn’t get to complete the sentence as he fell again on his face losing 10 health points this time.
Adam thought to take a look at his in-game stats while Birdy adapts to his body.
Name: Adam9204.
Main skill: Gyrokinesis, (level 0).
First Weapon: Dagger, (Proficiency +10).
Strength: 10.
Agility: 10.
Vitality: 10.
Attack: 5.
Defense: 5.
Health: 1,000.
Mana: 500.
Stamina 100.
He couldn’t help but think that compared to his real life stats window, this window was crowded, he wouldn’t need some of these stats in the real life any way, as some of them were limitations to make the game fair to all players.
While Adam was staring at his stats window sitting on a big smooth Boulder, he heard foot steps coming from the north, the direction of the town they were heading to.
“Yeah I thought a bunch of newbies dropped here! What’s up boys!” A huge man appeared from the bushes, with a scar on the right side of his face and a huge hammer on his back, his armor had a certain glow to it, indicating that it wasn’t a level zero armor.
“Are you an enemy?!” Adam monotonously asked the man, as Birdy stood up trying to act strong to not look like a clown in front of him.
“Enemy! I just came to say hello!” the smile on his face indicated a vile intent, Adam didn’t originally trust any one he doesn’t know, and most of those he knows he didn’t trust as well, so why would he trust an obviously suspicious man like that.
“Hello then! What’s your deal.” Adam mockingly asked the man with an indifference expression.
“Boy you are in my territory, if you don’t start showing some respect, you gonna be resetting faster then you can Blink!” the man’s smile disappeared, and an angry face took its place, he grabbed the hammer on his back and pointed it at them.
Adam jumped down from the rock he was sitting on, giving Birdy a glance, and approaching the man slowly and confidently. “Is this really your territory?! If so! We maybe able to do some business together.”
The man originally came after seeing them drop from the sky, hoping they would be new players, that he could take advantage of with the façade of helping them.
“Now we are talking, there is a treasure chest not far from here, I need two players to help me with! You interested!” the man said hoping to catch their attention, he was tricked by Adam’s confidence and thought they are experienced players, but he thought to try his luck tricking them non the less.
“We take half of the treasure then!” Adam offered the man his hand as a gesture of having a deal between them.
The man was surprised, he thought that they were just too naïve, to think that he would just sacrifice his hard work locating the treasure just like that. He took Adam’s hand thinking that his trick just worked and he will get to use them as bait for the monster guarding the treasure, and while they get torn to shreds by the monster, he would enjoy collecting the treasure easily.
“We have a d… ahhhhhh!” the moment the man touched Adam’s hand, he was flung in the air like a Canon ball.
Adam and Birdy spent the half hour in the testing chamber trying to find the best way they could use their skills together to achieve the best results.Adam’s Gyrokinesis level zero skill only worked by touching the object he wants to manipulate, and his manipulation limits would vary according to the object’s properties, for example, by spending ten mana, he could make a small dagger weigh 10 times its weight for 10 seconds, for each second less he could add a multiplier without spending more mana, if he makes the dagger weighs 20 times it’s weight without spending more mana, it would only last for a moment.Birdy’s telekinesis had a similar limitation, by spending 10 mana, he could make the same dagger fly around and dance in the air for 10 seconds, each second more would use 1 more mana, to throw the dagger at a target with a considerable force, he would spend 10 mana for just the split second of the throw. For both skills, the more the target weighed the more mana they spend, mana
After running a little more than 20 kilometers, taking a few rests along the way to restore their mana, they arrived at an entrance to a gap between two lush green mountains. on contrast to the mountains, the gap was dry, dark, and craggy. even though the sun was generous, illuminating the forest and the mountain hills diversely, the Rugged gap had an eerie dark ambiance, light seemed to fear the roaring of the wind like an angry Abomination through the rocky walls of the gap.Birdy stared at the scene with darkened eyes, swallowing a stubborn lump in his suddenly dried throat. “Are we going there?!” for a moment he hoped that Adam would be as cowardice as he is.“Of course! We ran all that distance, didn’t we?!” Adam nonchalantly answered his question, not oblivious to the eeriness of the place, in fact, it elated his curiosity, wanting to see how immersive the game can be.Birdy snapped his fingers producing a spark between them, instead of disappearing, the spark grew into a small
The lights of the outside blinded his eyes, but he memorized the way before hand, knowing that this would happen. “Birdy! Run away!” Adam shouted as loud as his vocal cords could vibrate, his eyes closed, shooting the air-gun at every chance he gets to accelerate, barely escaping the maw of the Beast.Sitting on a small tree branch, making a twig dance around in the air with his telekinesis skill, Birdy was startled with the sudden scream, as he saw Adam’s outlining figure emerging from the darkness in the far distance, he couldn’t figure what Adam was saying as he barely heard his scream among the echoes of the rocks and the howling of the wind. he hurriedly ran to the spot he was supposed to leave the clone in under the trap, trying to finish his role in the plan without even a second of hesitation.“Run away! It’s too big!” this time Birdy heard him clearly, but he was frozen and couldn’t react, behind Adam was something that terrified him, he felt the rush of adrenaline paralyzing
Far to the north of the dark gap’s location, near the town of Lunar stone, An avatar just fell from the sky, using a fire jet to slow himself down and land on his feet. “Just wait till I find you, you mother f*cking newbies!” said the huge man in anger, he had a hammer on his back and a scar on the right side of his face, it was the same man Adam and birdy killed less than an hour ago, other than his totally different facial features, be looked exactly the same, just with a beginners closings, and a level zero weapon.“Calm the f*ck down idiot! They got you the first time because you thought you are invincible! That’s a healthy reminder.” Two figures landed besides him, the one talking used a mass of earth to catch him in the air and put him down gently, the other one landed like a feather, not even making a sound.“They took me by surprise!” the man with the hammer shouted like a madman.“They got you good! I think they are pros! We better be in our best mindset, not shouting like ba
Adam touched the shiny silver ring, and found it to be attached to the wood, which confirmed his suspicions about this thing being a trap door. He pulled on it but it didn’t move.“Birdy! Come closer, I want to see if there is a locking mechanism.” When the light started to saturate the entire peace of wood, Adam noticed some shallow carvings under the silver ring, they looked like words in an ancient language, he couldn’t read them so he thought to destroy the door.Adam wasn’t very patient when it came to satisfying his curiosity. “I’ll try to make the ring heavy, maybe it would destroy the door and the locking mechanism with it.”“Why don’t we try to figure out what the words are first!”“Do you read ancient languages?!”“No! But we could search for…” Adam didn’t let him finish as soon as he answered his question, he made the ring 20 times heavier, the wood creaked a little but it wasn’t destroyed,Adam took out his dagger from its sheath. “Lets try this, make this dagger fly exact
“Did the surveillance cams show where he went?” Sydni asked the man talking to her on the phone in the middle of the night.“No ma’am! All it showed was that he went near the tree by the wall at 5 pm, and he didn’t show on any other cam since then.” Gem the care taker explained in an apologetic manner. “we searched everywhere!” he felt that its his fault that Birdy disappeared, even though he had nothing to do with it, he was the one responsible for all children in room 13.Even though Gem saw Birdy every day for the last 3 years since he was transferred to the orphanage, he didn’t know much about him. He only knew that he reads comics, and talks too much, and that he was the only one Adam would talk to. Adam even kicked out the original owner of the bed above him and forced birdy to take it instead, no one knew the reason those two got along together, but no one cared as long as they wouldn’t make any trouble.“children doesn’t just disappear into thin air!” Sydni didn’t actually kno
“It’s wonderful!” Adam couldn’t find a better word to describe the scene of the lake in the middle of all the trees, the reflection of the luminous orb flickering as the gentle cold night breeze tickles the surface of the calm lake, the colorful flowers spread everywhere like a beautiful infestation devouring the whole island, there is a flower blooming in every empty inch of the ground.Despite his now vast vocabulary, he couldn’t find a better description to this island. The wooden house beside the lake felt as if it was here for centuries, being a part of the land, a good neighbor to the surrounding trees, respecting their privacy as they respected its boundaries, a generous host to the growing flowers on its ancient steps, it felt like it would be believable if the house grew naturally from a seed, it perfectly blended with the island. What delighted Adam even more, was that the whole island smelled to him like home, the unnamed smell he grew up with was in abundance here, the sme
“How much is that?!” Birdy whispered in Adam’s ear, he had no idea what a billion is, but the surprise on Adam’s face told him that it’s allot. Adam’s surprise didn’t live long. “A billion is a 9 digit number.” He answered Birdy’s question under Keet’s chuckle. “Can we bind it to someone without a surgery.” [Insufficient data for a precise answer. Shallow binding is possible with a success rate of 100 percent, it may not include the thought activation function. Deep bindings success rate is unknown due to Insufficient data, testing is required.] ‘Aren’t you being useless lately!’ Adam scolded the symbiote for its lack of useful answers, to which the symbiote didn’t react. He was disappointed in how it let him down on the one thing he was excited to do, flying. The global network of the alliance had no information on the superior cores, which is why the symbiote didn’t have any information on them other then the result of the scan. “We can. however, it’s gonna be painful. Without
The dense smooth ball fell to the ground, bypassing the gravity field that previously contained it. It plunged a few centimeters deep into the hard metal floor, a ton of force was concentrated in a small area, making it hard to contain it by regular matter. It was still sinking through the metal floor slowly, as it was being mercilessly pulled by the planet’s gravity.[Connection established. recalculating blueprints to adapt to the signal of the new nanite cluster fabric. More physical contact with the material is required for a faster result.]“Was it successful?!” Keet’s eyes were asking the question before he even moved his lips. He was startled by the sudden disengagement of the sphere from the gravity field. He kept his eyes and scanners on Adam to detect if he is in danger before any thing, and he was relieved for once to see Adam’s expressionless face unchanging. “Can you control it?.”“Yes! The signal is different from any other cluster fabric, my blueprints needs to be modif
“she just disappeared a year after you were born, and in her place there was a message, telling your father to provide them with a certain type of technology if he ever wants to see her again.” Keet said desperately, his voice struggling in a way.“People don’t just disappear!” Adam chuckled, he was hearing about his mother for the first time, and the first thing he hears about her is that she just disappeared. The first thing that came to his mind was that she might have abandoned him and his father. Or that she could be working with the Rinvar clan.“They don’t, but when you see this you may believe the opposite.” Keet created a screen and played a video of a woman singing a sweet lullaby for an infant wrapped in a sky blue blanket with twinkling stars all over it that seems to be moving about. The woman was sitting on a flowery wooden chair rocking back and forth. She appeared to be on some kind of a ship traveling in space, a foreign star constellations were visible from a window
“please continue!.” Adam said. Seeing the shocked expression on Keet’s face, Adam thought that the symbiote created something amazing, so he inwardly requested the details of those spiders. However they were just normal spider scouts, like the one Adam used to kill the man who attempted to kidnap Mela.Keet’s surprise wasn’t triggered by the blueprint itself, he counted 8 spiders rushing in all directions at the same time, and the 8 if them seemed semi-intelligent while moving all over the base exploring about. Even Keet wouldn’t be able to accomplish such a level of control without automating the constructs.Which means either the spiders were all automated and the young kid already knows how to automate drone actions, which would be scary at his age. Or he was directly controlling 8 individual actions while still focusing on their talking, which would be horrifying. The reason Keet didn’t consider the probability of an artificial intelligence, is that the spiders were mostly just to
Adam plunged into the ground raising a cloud of dust and creating a small crater around him as he landed like a super hero on one knee and a closed fist.[The modified armor blueprint features ionic thrusters with up to 8 tons of pushing force.]‘you telling me this now?!’ Adam shouted inwardly at himself, he had no idea that the symbiote modified the armor already. his cognitive abilities and thinking speed were on another level compared to yesterday, but still he was a human that easily got distracted by the feeling of freedom and liberation, and forgot all about the need to stop and land at some point. He also wanted to show off a little in front of Keet to pretend that he wasn’t in need of help or assistance, which resulted in a minor knee bruise and a sore knuckles.“That was a cool Landing. Was it painful?!.” Keet chuckled, commenting on his landing and making sure to save the footage of it in his memory for later use.“You noticed! Well! It just needs some practice.” Adam smile
“You should come with me to the main base first.” Keet said to Adam, pointing at the middle of the island. The main base wasn’t far from where they were, the whole island was 20 km across, it would take them less then a minute to reach there flying.“Okay you go first and set a beacon, I’ll test some old tech with this new unlimited energy.” Adam didn’t argue with him, but he was still going to do his tests. He turned his clothe into a skin tight jump suit with a helmet covering his face. Two long thin wings grew from his back, ending with a jet engine each.“Do you know how loud these things are?! If you break the sound barrier with them you could damage many equipment on the island. You should try something else.” Keet stopped Adam from firing up the engines. he hated this era of technology for its too little care for the planet’s well-being. Unlike the mock engines that Adam was planning to use, the real ancient jet engine used a dangerous fossil fuel, which didn’t just endanger th
Adam was sitting on a wooden table behind the house, eating his big breakfast while surrounded by trees, flowers, and whistling birds. The rich sunlight bathed him in its warmth and its wide spectrum of electromagnetic radiations. “Birdy didn’t wake up yet?! He sure doesn’t miss Gem.” He said stuffing his face with more food, He stopped focusing on chewing much, the food would disappear in a few seconds anyway. He was worried about Birdy, it was unnatural for the kid to sleep in.Birdy used to wake up earlier then every one, Adam would sometime Hear him laughing on the top bed, he thought at first that he was having some weird dream. When he asked him about it, Birdy Said that it was the only time of the day he would quietly enjoy reading his comics.“That boy is actually quite something! He trained for four hours straight after you went to sleep, not taking any rest until he passed out on the living room’s floor.” Keet informed Adam while aiming a barrage of scanners and detectors at
Adam opened his eyes on a massive head of a man with white hair, white groomed beard, and wide opened eyes staring at him with the kind of amusement one would look at a rare creature with.“Waaaah… what the f*ck old man! Stop doing that!” Adam jumped out from the soft bed, away from the massive head, only to realize that it was just Keet, and his head was normal size, it was just too close for comfort.“Rise and shine Kid! We have a long, long day to catch.” Keet said with a happy grin, he couldn’t just wait until Adam wakes up, he needed some explanation for the events of yesterday.“What long day? Go catch it yourself! Let me sleep I’m tired.” Adam had nothing to wake up early for. The symbiote calculated that his body would need 9 more days to resume his preparatory enhancement. he no longer had a dead line to find a plan to escape, he was already in a safe place. And he most certainly wouldn’t give up sleep to start training early after all that happened yesterday. He was simply t
Birdy was extremely exhausted, he felt that he was about to collapse, but he held on to his consciousness just to finish the third objective of the schedule that Adam created for him. He was disappointed in himself for not being able to continue to the fourth, compared to this schedule, the daily training routine he was used to in the orphanage was literally a breeze. He was oblivious to the fact that he finished a training routine made for an adult athlete, and that there was no fourth objective. the symbiote calculated that he would finish this much of this hell hard schedule, just based on Birdy’s personality, and his ignorance about how hard the training schedule is, and the fact that any human being who experienced weakness would be motivated to become stronger. What kept him going was the image of Keet’s hands wrapping around his whole body, the fear he felt at that moment, he felt too little, and too weak. the name of the protocol Adam created for him made him think that Adam w
4 hours ago, after Adam went to sleep, Birdy decided to test what he can do with the new blueprint that Adam created, but he was afraid to go outside the wooden house, because Keet might be out there, so he was going to settle with testing the small things. He patted the cute white dog, and then ordered it to turn to the full armor mode with his thoughts. The dog immediately seemed to be giving him a jump hug, only to turn into liquid and swallow Birdy’s entire body into the liquid, and then form the armor around his body, the process only took a split second, but it felt longer to Birdy who was in the middle of it.The armor felt lighter than before, and when he took a step forward, he didn’t feel any weight to it at all. in fact, he felt as if nothing could stop his leg from stepping forward. The amount of power behind the single step was enough to destroy anything in his path.He started to become wary of his movement, to not cause any damage to the house. And then he noticed that
