"Grandpa, that's not true! Xania couldn't have killed herself!" Xavier arrived at the Smith Townhouse. An apartment complex built in the centre of the city. Xavier tried to tell Grandpa Smith about his suspicions.
But when he saw that Grandpa Smith did not react, Xavier did not give up and he still tried hard to continue his words: "I am sure, someone must have set her up. We have to investigate this case, and how could you give the company that Xania ran and built to Janiska? That's not fair, I'm back and I'll take responsibility for my family's property!"
Grandfather Smith gave Xavier a sharp look, as the extended family gathered at Xavier's invitation.
"Xavier... Xavier... I thought you wouldn't come back and die on the battlefield. So the company is well suited to be run by Janiska. Do you know anything about the beauty industry? You're just a soldier who happened to be discharged because your general thought your skills were rather poor. You don't even have a title or a job, and you don't have anyone now that your sister and parents have gone to heaven. And you don't intend to follow them, do you?" Grandpa Smith said so cruelly that it pierced Xavier's heart.
"Grandpa, I'm your grandson too." Xavier stared at his grandfather in disbelief, as if he were being treated like the stranger he despised so much.
All the members of the family looked at him with pity.
"Xavier, you are indeed a Smith because you carry the Smith family title. But you should know that you left Scotland to pursue your dream of becoming a soldier. You have abandoned and neglected your family here. How can a son not come on the day his parents die? Even when your twin committed suicide, you didn't show any concern. Do you still want to be considered Smith's family? The news about you is spreading, you're considered so bad". Peter Smith even took Xavier to task.
Janiska went over to Xavier, showing him her delicate fingers with a wry smile. "I think Grandpa wants you out of the Smith family."
Xavier's hands clenched into fists behind his back, he looked at each of the Smith family members present. Tonight, Xavier swore he would never ask them for help, even if he found the culprits who had committed the crime against Xania, he would finish them off. He would show no mercy.
"Get lost Xavier, you're just like your father. Being here will be a nuisance for Grandpa," Grandpa Smith said for the last time before Xavier left without saying a word.
"Hahaha, look at him going and giving up. I don't know how he'll live, maybe he'll go to his in-laws and depend on his wife." Peter laughed loudly, his voice still clearly audible in Xavier's ears.
All these insults were not returned by Xavier at all. He still tried to hold back and let them do as they pleased. As he reached the edge of the motorway and left the townhouse complex, a black Mercedes-Benz pulled up in front of Xavier. The man scanned the surrounding streets to make sure no one saw him get into the car.
Once seated beside Leo, who was driving the car, Xavier leaned his head back and closed his eyes.
Giving Xavier a look, Leo asked. "Did they treat you badly, boss?"
Xavier didn't answer Leo's question immediately, he just sighed tiredly and then looked out of the window to take in the scenery.
"Take me to my wife, Leo."
Leo realised that his boss couldn't tell a story, so he didn't ask any more questions. He just nodded briefly and showed his respect. Leo knew Xavier very well, he never felt superior and always taught his special forces to be humble, no matter who they were. He believed that on the battlefield they should fight together to protect their brothers and their country.
For the first time in years, Xavier came back to this house. Xavier deliberately parked his car a short distance from Savana's house, he didn't want his wife's family to know that he was driving a luxury car. Xavier didn't even bring anything with him, perhaps he would be criticised by Savana's family afterwards.
Xavier knocked on the door of the teak house while he waited for the owner to come out, he looked around this house which was already better maintained. As soon as the door opened, Xavier looked at his father-in-law.
"Xavier Smith? Is that you? Is it really you?" Joseph Cooper looked at Xavier in surprise, both of his eyeballs widening.
"Yes, Father, I'm back." Xavier smiled broadly and the two exchanged hugs.
"Father, who's here?"
Hearing his daughter's voice, Joseph broke the embrace and told her to come in.
"I've brought a special guest," Dad said as he pulled Xavier inside until he was facing Savana.
Naturally, Savana was quite surprised. Savana still remembered the look on her husband's face. This person in front of her felt very strange and distant because they had never communicated, not even made love. Savana was so shocked she could only stand still.
"Savana, Daddy, who's coming?"
As for Mom, she had once hoped that the news of Xavier's death would make Savana divorce him and marry another man who would make her happier. But Savana was a very loyal woman, she hardly ever hung out or played to enjoy her life. Savana always worked hard, came home on time, ate regularly, but as a mother, Anggie knew exactly how Savana felt. She just covered it up. Now that her husband had just returned, Anggie wanted to scold him for making his wife suffer and be lonely. Anggie wondered why Xavier never sent any messages to his wife, not even money to support her.
As dinner was about to start, Joseph got them all to sit around the table and eat together. The atmosphere around the table seemed to be very quiet because they really wanted to hear Xavier's explanation.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Savana." Xavier opened his mouth after swallowing his food, looking straight at Savana who was sitting in front of him.
"I'm sorry dad, mum, for making you angry, upset and disappointed. There are many things I can't tell you. But I really came back for you, for Savana." Xavier smiled sincerely and reached out for Savana's hand on the dining table.
"What is your position in the military? Did you come back with any wealth? After hearing the news about your family, we were worried. But the news about you sounds so bad, it's already spread everywhere," Anggie said, keeping her cheeky expression.
"Mum..." Savana looked at her mother, she didn't want a fight here. Although she did want to know a lot about her husband.
Xavier answered calmly. He looked at Savana who was looking at him, then at Anggie. "As you know, I'm just an ordinary soldier with no accomplishments. I may not have a job yet and I don't know what my future goals are. But if you believe that I will bring happiness to your daughter, that happiness does not always come from wealth and riches."
Joseph, sitting next to Xavier, cleared his throat, distracting Anggie and her two children. "Xavier, it would be better for you to get a job that pays, so that people don't underestimate you. I want my daughter to have the happiness she deserves, she's been waiting for you and loyal to you, so I hope you won't waste her when you return. Of course, if you have nothing to be proud of as Savana's husband, I'll take strict measures to divorce you. Possessions and wealth are not the main thing to achieve happiness, but you have to be realistic about living in this world, everything we want has a price. Joseph explained to Xavier in a language that was easy to accept, even his words were more pleasant to listen to than the questions of his mother-in-law, who seemed not to care about his life. So Xavier could still accept criticism from his daddy-in-law.
"Okay, Daddy."
Joseph patted Xavier's shoulder. "A month is enough time, isn't it? My wife will be furious if you don't earn and live with us."
"I'll try to do better, don't worry." Xavier replied firmly, because for him it was not yet time to show the world who Xavier really was.
"Xavier, do you need my help to find a job?"Savana walked into the room after helping her mum clear away her dinner. She saw Xavier lying down with his eyes closed. It looked like Xavier was very tired. This was going to be the best night, because after all this time Savana could hug him again. She didn't know if she still had feelings for Xavier or if her heart still felt empty and hollow.Xavier took a long time to answer Savana's question. "Looks like I'm on my own. Thank you for looking after me."Savana just let out a long sigh before she went to the bathroom to clean up and went to bed with her husband.***The next day, the father-in-law sent Xavier to take Savana to the Cooper Company, where he said they would discuss the grand opening plan for their next branch. As Savana was also one of the directors of the subsidiary, which had only been set up about six months earlier, she had to be involved in supporting the next company, which would be run by her sister Sheila."That's
Savana swallowed hard, she couldn't think of any words to tell Xavier to refuse his grandfather's request. Instead, Xavier told her to go home alone and said he would find a job to prepare for their wedding in thirteen days. It's not that Savana doesn't trust Xavier's words, but she can lend him the money if they want to throw a lavish party. For the sake of her husband's good name, Savana didn't want to be insulted.Savana got into the car as soon as she realised she had been daydreaming for several minutes. She drove the car at a slow pace, looking around the streets for Xavier. Where was this guy going to get a job and make good money in thirteen days? It didn't make any sense, Savana sighed heavily when she couldn't find her husband. Finally she decided to go to the office, it was still her working time.On the other hand, Xavier was already in the car. He deliberately walked a long way, making sure that no one saw him as he got into the car. Leo did not dare to drive the car with
"So that's the story," said David, who had just finished telling us what had happened in the past. "I'm sorry I had to stay away from you. I'm really sorry that I couldn't be a parent to protect you. Instead of saving Xania, I was too late."It seemed that hearing his father's confession made Xavier even more determined to avenge those people. "Father, I swear I will make them regret destroying our family. But I'm glad to finally meet you and be reunited with you. Where's Mum? Will I be able to see her too?""Your mother is at our main house, there will be time for you to go there. Father will give you our home address. We've been hiding there all this time, waiting for you to return," David said, getting a nod from Xavier."Then, now that I'm here, I'll continue your duties as Commander-in-Chief, but on one condition, Father," Xavier's speech was cut short as he paused."What is that?" David's eyebrows were half raised."I don't want to show everyone my true identity until a certain
"Sorry dad, I had some sudden business with a friend." Xavier shook both his parents' hands."Xavier, sit down first. We need to talk." Joseph told him to sit down, so everyone gathered in the living room, concentrating on Joseph who was about to say something."Why Dad?" Savana asked, trying to break the contact of Joseph's eyes that were piercing Xavier so sharply."Are you really incapable of thinking straight?" Joseph snapped at Xavier immediately.Savana had expected this, she was really worried that her father was angry with Xavier. But looking at Xavier's expression, he was very calm and showed no concern."I've been thinking, are you talking about my wedding on the fifteenth?" asked Xavier without taking his eyes off Joseph."Yes, what else is there to think about?" said Joseph, looking pleased with himself.Xavier just nodded and then said calmly. "I have prepared it well. Take it easy, just come to the place when I tell you. You can see for yourselves if I embarrass this fam
"Capricorn managed to break into Smith's security centre, he's still looking for evidence related to Xania. He said it would be very difficult to find the CCTV footage connected to the location area from the Smith Group's perspective, they might have lost track of it. But if we can search from the King Group hotel's perspective, we might find it, boss!" Leo exclaimed, making Xavier look at him expectantly."Capricorn is right! Why did I just think of that?" muttered Xavier, making Leo shrug his shoulders in casual response."But the King Group's security is so strong that Capricorn will try to break in. We just need to know the date when Xania fell from the top of the building." Leo added."I wonder, was there a witness from the King Hotel at that time? It's impossible that they didn't see it. I suppose, apart from breaking into the CCTV security, what about the data on the occupants? At least on the floor parallel to the crime scene, I want to make sure one of them saw it," Xavier sa
Everyone in Cooper's room was naturally surprised. It had never occurred to them that their names would be on the Commander-in-Chief's invitation list. Cooper pulled several envelopes from the table with their names engraved in bold gold letters.Savana rubbed her eyes a few times to make sure she wasn't mistaken. "Does this have Xavier's name on it too?" a disbelieving Savana chirped."Wh-what?" At a loss for words, Joseph looked at the names on the front of the envelope one by one."This is all the sender gave us. I'm sure there must be something wrong! I would have come even if I hadn't received such an invitation! After all, I am the owner of the Cooper Company, and you wouldn't exist without me!" Cooper exclaimed as he massaged his dizzy head."Grandpa!" Haris, who had suddenly appeared, opened the door without knocking."What's wrong?" asked Cooper."Is there an invitation for me from the Commander-in-Chief? I heard that one of his men just sent an invitation to our office," Har
Seeing Savana's happiness, Xavier couldn't refuse her invitation. He and Savana decided to eat first out of respect for Anggie who had cooked so hard for them. I don't know where Savana's parents were, they seemed to be busy themselves and didn't join them for dinner. Meanwhile, Xavier's food, which Ella had brought, was also being taken to his room by Anggie."Mum, Dad, let's go for a walk first!" called Savana as she said goodbye to them, then linked her hand to Xavier's left arm as they walked to the car."Let me drive for you," Xavier said as he took the car keys from Savana's hand.Meanwhile, Savana, who had just got into the car, looked at Xavier and raised half an eyebrow in surprise. "Are you sure you can drive for me?" asked Savana, because she had never seen Xavier drive for her before, so she was curious."Of course I can drive, even though I don't have a driving licence, but I can drive. Don't doubt me," Xavier said with a faint smile until Savana finally nodded in agreeme
On a bright morning, Xavier, Savana, Anggie, and Joseph arrived at the prestigious Grand Commander's reception venue. The four of them had carefully planned this visit, and now they were getting ready to check their invitation tickets to enter the event area. When they arrived at the ticket inspection location, they coincidentally met Sheila's family, their friend who was also invited to the event. Sheila greeted them warmly with handshakes and a friendly smile."Hello, guys! It's great to see you here. How are you?" Sheila greeted them with a friendly and pleasant tone.Xavier, who knew Sheila well, smiled faintly and responded to her greeting. "We're doing well, Sheila. You look amazing."Savana, standing beside Xavier, held his arm and gazed at Sheila in awe before offering a compliment. "Indeed, your outfit is stunning!""You must have been looking forward to this event, haven't you?" Anggie asked Sheila.Sheila nodded enthusiastically and gestured towards her parents. "Yes, I'm v
