Ava stood in front of her mirror as she admired her beauty. She applied a dark red lipstick and a black eye pencil around her eyes. She smiled in front of her mirror and winked. She was not satisfied yet with her looks. She felt like she needed a change of dress. She walked back to her dressing room and began to check through the dresses. She looked down at herself and tried to convince herself that her look was okay. She walked back to her dressing mirror and reapplied her lipstick. She picked up the perfume and sprayed around her dress. Ava knew that the scent was okay because she already applied body sprays and perfumes earlier, yet she still felt like they were not enough. Ava sat down in front of her dressing table and placed her face in her palm. She began to wonder why she was putting in so much effort to dress up for her meeting with Henry. She didn't like him, and there was actually nothing real going on with them, so why was she trying so hard to look good? Ava knew that
Henry checked his wristwatch for the umpteenth time, and Ava was not there yet. He tapped the table continuously using his finger. He kept staring at the door and back at the table. Someone walked into the open building at a beautiful spot in the park. There were a few people seated at different tables, but she ignored them all and walked straight to where Henry sat. He lifted his head immediately when she approached, and a smile curved on his lips, but the smile disappeared immediately when he realized that she wasn't Ava. She was smiling down at Henry, and Henry didn't recognise her from anywhere. "Who are you, and what do you want?" He demanded with a scorn. She sighed and tried to sit on the empty chair opposite Henry, but he quickly stuck his chair under the table and pulled the chair in. "Someone would join me soon, and I am sure she would not want to see you here," Henry told her. She hissed and walked away from the table. She found another table with a single man and joi
As Henry walked back into my office, he told himself that he would have to make it up to Ava next time. He was in a hurry and he had to leave her so early. He wished that he didn't have to leave that way, but it was unavoidable. As he walked into his office, he quickly summoned his assistant to his office. Harrison walked into the office and greeted him. He noticed that Harrison looked a bit sad. He had called to tell him that he got what he asked him to. So why was he still looking pale and moody? "Did you get it?" Henry asked Harrison. He knew that Harrison stated that earlier when he called, but he still wanted to be sure. "Yes, I did," Harrison replied. "Although it took time before I was able to meet with those top investors.""Thank you so much, Harrison," Henry said with a grateful smile as he shook hands with his assistant. Henry was excited that his assistant was able to do all of those within the short time he was given. He didn't expect it, and he was excited about it
Linda lay in her room with her eyes fixed on the ceiling as her back hugged the wall. She could hear her mom and James talking and laughing heartily like their whole lives depended on it. She could not stop wondering what was so funny. They had turned her into a shadow of her former self, and everyone else seemed to have moved on. She wished that she didn't listen to them at all. She was still contemplating how life would have turned out if she had waited a little longer when she heard a knock on her door. She stood up and walked towards the door.Linda opened the door and met James standing there. He had a neutral look on his face, so Linda could not guess what was going on in his head. "Someone is here to see you," James informed her. "He's from the Floater's..."Linda's heart sank when she heard the Floater's family, and she didn't wait for James to finish what he had to say before she stormed out of her room. James sighed and followed behind her. "You could not even wait for m
"You are wasting our time and delaying the growth of this company, Ava!" Her father thundered as he faced her fuming in anger.Ava's hands were folded under her breasts as she listened to her parents' nag. Whenever she opened her mouth to speak, one of them would have something to say and would shut her up automatically. "Why haven't you accepted the man we brought for you?" Her father asked her. "A good man...""Dad," Ava cut in. She was tired of watching them talk and talk without letting her defend herself. "You don't interrupt your father when he's talking to Ava," her mom scolded her. "But none of you would let me speak," Ava tried to defend herself. Her mom slapped her forehead. She wondered why the kid was being so difficult. She didn't want to listen to anyone and wanted to do everything her own way. She wished that her daughter knew what was at stake at that point. "Noe tell us calmly why you haven't still accepted the offer of marrying the person we asked you to get ma
The day for the board meeting where Henry was eventually going to have the board meeting where he would eventually meet with the Guild family after the last incident with them and Henry was finding himself getting more restless as the date drew near and he knew it had to do with him finally getting to meet face to face with Linda again after their break up. It wasn't like he was nervous or something, he was certain that he had finally gotten over his feelings for Linda and would not feel nervous at the sight of her, but why was he restless? There was a lump on his throat all through that morning as he got ready for work, he just couldn't help but think about all the problems he had to face at that moment, following the visit from his father's relative the other day at the office, he knew that he was supposed to be up and doing and he really needed to hurry up with the company. He could tell that there was a plot against him but he didn't want to invest too much time in thinking about
"So what is the next step we can take to dethrone him?" The deep voice with the rich baritone asked.Mr Benedict leaned back on his seat and swirled a bit. Everyone's eyes were focused on him, waiting for his next instruction."I have nothing planned yet, and that is why I have called for this meeting. I mean, we all know that Henry is not qualified for that position, he should not be there at all and the fact that he is slowing things down, I mean, since all the while that he had been given the company to raise, not even a single move had been made by him to improve the company." Mr Benedict said. There was a malicious undertone to his voice which anyone could easily hear but everyone present there was probably more occupied with their hatred for Henry that they didn't notice."You are right, besides, I think it's high time that we take back what belongs to us." Michael, who was sitting opposite Mr Benedict, chipped in.They were about five men, sitting in a circle and surrounding a
Henry wondered why there was a hitch in his heart after he ended the call with Ava. He did not like the lump in his throat which he had to swallow hard to get rid of.Why did he have that kind of feeling after saying no to a request from her?Henry drove straight home after he finished work while thinking of the sad event which had occurred in his company some days ago. He could not help but have the feeling that someone was probably responsible for what happened but he couldn't place his fingers on it.He had thought initially that this would be easier than having to live with the Guild family, but as it stands now, it seemed like setting up his own company turned out to be the hardest of all.By the time Henry arrived home, he was determined that he would not let himself be swayed by the little opposition he was facing and make sure he didn't become the failed heir like Mr Benedict had predicted. It was already late and Henry thought his mother would probably already be asleep by th
