Chapter Twenty Six

"You are wasting our time and delaying the growth of this company, Ava!" Her father thundered as he faced her fuming in anger.

Ava's hands were folded under her breasts as she listened to her parents' nag. Whenever she opened her mouth to speak, one of them would have something to say and would shut her up automatically.

"Why haven't you accepted the man we brought for you?" Her father asked her. "A good man..."

"Dad," Ava cut in.

She was tired of watching them talk and talk without letting her defend herself.

"You don't interrupt your father when he's talking to Ava," her mom scolded her.

"But none of you would let me speak," Ava tried to defend herself.

Her mom slapped her forehead. She wondered why the kid was being so difficult. She didn't want to listen to anyone and wanted to do everything her own way. She wished that her daughter knew what was at stake at that point.
