Joseph’s qi was flowing into Mr. Watt’s bloodstream, searching for the organs corroded by the poison. The qi of a cultivator differed from normal. It was a strengthening qi, with special healing abilities, even higher than others’, not to mention, not everyone knew how to guide qi. Along with the increase in qi in the body, Mr. Watt’s complexion became rosier, his pulse steadier, far from the near-death appearance just moments ago.

This change made Willock suspicious, both astonished and unwilling to accept it.

After 30 minutes, someone quickly brought in the items. They placed the centipedes, moth wings, and fly legs in one vial. Joseph stopped infusing qi, this time lowering Mr. Watt back to lying down. He took those strange items and placed them in the patient’s mouth and nostrils.

“Look closely, this is obviously the sinister work of those quacks! They dare to toy with fire in front of the heir of the Watt family!”

The doctors around Willock also murmured, saying they felt no confidence in this behavior. They had received the most modern scientific education, trained in the most advanced countries, and had never seen such peculiar treatment methods before.

Willock and the other doctors’ words clearly reached Coco’s ears. To say she completely believed it wasn’t true, but she was still trying to grasp onto any straw she could find. She bit her lip, thinking to herself, if her grandfather’s condition didn’t improve, the outcome for Joseph would surely be dire.

At this moment, Joseph, who had always been silent, suddenly spoke up, “Coco, get me a tea bag from my bag.”

Coco immediately handed Joseph the tea bag. He placed it in the vial, holding it up in front of Mr. Watt.

Willock’s disdainful voice echoed from outside, “If he can really do it, I’ll eat that tea bag!”

Coco’s astonished cry suddenly rang out.

Tiny red-bodied spiders slowly crawled out of Mr. Watt’s nose and mouth, inching their way into the vial in Joseph’s hand.

A minute later, Coco’s grandfather slowly opened his eyes!

The recent scene left everyone here stunned to silence. Doctor Willock burst in from outside, witnessing an utterly unscientific scenario before him. He approached to check the readings on the machines, realizing that the indicators had miraculously returned to normal.

This was a disease their team of doctors had been closely monitoring but had yet to find a suitable solution for. Today, he had intervened himself, but it turned out to be a disastrous failure. In the end, just an ordinary man like this could snatch a life back from the brink of death.

Willock felt something inside him crumble.

Amile and Coco no longer paid attention to Willock’s mood. They hurriedly approached Mr. Watt, carefully inquiring a few questions. Tears of happiness overflowed from their eyes. Coco stood up, looking at Joseph with gratitude overflowing from her face.

“You truly are our family’s savior. You’re truly a master of medicine. I’m sorry for ever doubting you.”

Joseph smiled. The happiness of this family made him feel joyous as well. He modestly chuckled, “Saving lives is my responsibility; you don’t need to worry too much. It’s just a small matter.”

Coco nodded, full of sincerity. “Not everyone will be like you... There are those renowned figures out there who become arrogant, useless, and look down on others.”

This remark was a pointed reference, and everyone understood. Willock’s face turned from pale to red, extremely embarrassed.

At this moment, Amile turned to Joseph. Her attitude had completely changed since before. She carefully looked at him with full respect, asking, “What exactly caused my grandfather to become like that?”

Mentioning this, Joseph’s expression immediately became serious. He approached Mr. Watt cautiously, asking, “Forgive me for many things. Have you been to Daje recently and attended a party?”

Coco’s grandfather still couldn’t speak, just weakly nodded in agreement. Joseph understood right away, gently explaining, “You’ve been cursed. Daje harbors many witches and sorcerers, and this curse, though easy to dispel, is a sinister type... Perhaps someone has targeted you for a long time.”

This was their family’s private matter, and Joseph didn’t want to interfere too much. He just wanted to remind them to be more vigilant. Coco, the next heir of the conglomerate, couldn’t help but furrow her brow in thought.

Seeing the immediate acceptance from the powerful young ladies, Doctor Willock scoffed. He spoke mockingly, “We’re living in the era of science and technology advancement, yet here you are spreading such superstitious nonsense. How can curses and witchcraft exist in the 21st century?”

Amile found this person very irritating, disrupting them repeatedly. She mocked, “Then how do you explain the spider crawling out of my grandfather?”

“That must be a type of parasite egg in the human body, hatching under certain conditions and forming a spider-like appearance. It’s nothing horrifying.”

“Your machines couldn’t detect such an enormous spider in the patient’s body?”

Willock became hesitant. Nurtured by modern education, he found believes in such supernatural things unreasonable and bizarre. But as they said, he could not see through the core issue of the patient.

But Willock was selfish and had a higher ego than anyone else. He couldn’t bear the fact that someone like him had lost to a novice who hadn’t even cleaned his nose properly. While Willock was still fumbling for an explanation, Joseph turned and walked out.

The younger one was more arrogant than him, which made Joseph extremely uncomfortable. He stood there, trembling in disappointment and under the scrutinizing gazes of his colleagues, when Coco’s voice rang out, sending chills down his spine.

“You just lost the bet. Go eat that tea bag. My eyes are always on you. Remember to obey, or else don’t blame me.”

In that tea bag was the spider still trying to wriggle free.

...

In another room of Hospital A, near to where the hospital director was suffering alongside a spider, Mrs. Smith and David were present. Because of the scuffle that day, David had been recuperating here. In the life of this pampered playboy, he had never experienced such humiliation before.

David sobbed like a child. He clung to his mother to recount his woes, “That wretched fellow was so cruel... Only my son suffers.” Mrs. Smith felt for her son, grinding her teeth towards the culprit who dared to harm her child. But simply cursing wouldn’t even begin to weaken Joseph’s determination. David, in a pitiful state, shouted, “Mom! Mom, you must avenge me! We must skin him alive. This grudge is unbearable!” Mrs. Smith had no reason to refuse her son’s request. And this son of hers didn’t even need to ask; she already wanted to teach that traitorous wretch a lesson. It was just a necklace, yet it behaved like a rabid dog, daring to harm her beloved son. At this moment, the door suddenly opened. A pair of shiny black leather shoes stepped in cautiously. The newcomer wore a fake smile and a sly look, but to Mrs. Smith’s eyes, it was a gentle expression. It was none other than Anthony, who had been pursuing Charlotte in recent days. He carried a gift basket for David and immed

The leader, irritated by her haughty demeanor, snarled menacingly. “Do you think you’re able to negotiate with me? Get out of the car! Immediately! Don’t make me resort to violence against women.” Coco chuckled lightly. Only a fool would step out to be prey for them. Prolonging the time, she dialed for help. She glanced at Joseph, then reclined her seat. She crawled into the driver’s seat, addressing Joseph through the rearview mirror. “Buckle up; I’ll get you out of here.” The leader, unable to contain his impatience any longer, gestured to his comrades, his voice booming, “If you won’t drink the toast, then you’ll drink the penalty!” The car wouldn’t start, likely because of the tampering of the bribed driver. Coco narrowed her eyes at the approaching gang, her hand tightening around the gun concealed in her inner pocket. Since childhood, Coco’s prominent family had taught her how to deal with ruffians like these. But then, there was a sound from behind. Joseph opened the door a

At this moment, a figure suddenly appeared, his eyes catching sight of the beautiful woman from afar. Anthony was very pleased with Charlotte’s appearance, his determination growing stronger. If he could have this woman, not only would he have a beauty but also a giant backing behind her, making it possible for him to take over. Women, what do they know about business matters? Leave it to the husband to handle later. Greedy intentions were obvious in his mind. Anthony quickly strode towards Charlotte. He greeted Rebecca and smiled happily. “Surprisingly, meeting you here.” “Hello.” Charlotte nodded politely. She was slightly suspicious because someone like Anthony could also be at a place like this. Her disdainful look was clear, making Anthony feel like he was standing on an ant’s nest. He hurriedly spoke up to prove himself: “At first glance, it’s just a social party, but inside, there are countless people silently competing for the opportunity to gain favor with the Watts famil

Meanwhile, Anthony also noticed the commotion over here. What caught his eye was Joseph being surrounded by three beautiful women. One was clinging to his arm, one was flirtatious, and Charlotte was angrily interrogating him. What did this guy have that attracted women like that! Anthony couldn’t help but feel jealous. But regardless, the woman next to Joseph was truly beautiful. Both Charlotte and the other two women were incredibly attractive. He silently thought, then greeted: “With a party like this, it seems any Tom, Dick, or Harry can attend. Even an ordinary janitor deserves to be here?” He then turned to Coco, flashing a smile that he considered very charming, and chuckled: “Madam, has this guy deceived you or something? He has no right to be at this luxurious business party. Please don’t let his pretentious appearance deceive you.” Coco frowned. Why would a refined gentleman like Joseph be so familiar with rude people like that? She looked at him uncomfortably, then sudde

Meanwhile, Coco turned to Joseph and asked, “Are you satisfied with my performance?” “Thank you,” Joseph replied, his attitude somewhat indifferent and cold. But deep down, he was silently grateful for Coco’s help. “Ha ha ha ha, that girl earlier didn’t seem that dumb, did she?” “Yeah, using Joseph as a bet against me? What does she think she’s doing? Doesn’t she understand the capabilities and character of the person beside her?” “Exactly, but isn’t she also being deceived by Joseph? I wonder what he’s deceiving her about. Is he a professional, educated person, or a wealthy heir with an impressive background? It’s really laughable.” “That’s right, ha ha ha ha.” Anthony and Rebecca couldn’t stop mocking Joseph and Coco. Meanwhile, Charlotte walked silently beside them, feeling uncomfortable. Then she stopped and called Rebecca. “Rebecca.” Seeing that Charlotte didn’t join in the jesting, and her face appeared somewhat solemn, Rebecca sensed her boss’s emotions and didn’t contin

He didn’t want to get himself into trouble. “I’m sorry, but this seat is mine. And I see no reason to give it up to you.” “You really have no respect! I’ll give you five seconds, and if you haven’t left by then, I’ll call security. You’ll become the laughingstock of this entire assembly!” After finishing her threat, the secretary began counting, thinking that if she did so, Joseph would surely be scared. But it seemed she was wrong. Joseph still had no intention of leaving. As she reached the fifth count, suddenly, a familiar voice echoed from behind. “Joseph is my friend. There’s no reason to call security on him.” The secretary, who had been aggressive just now, immediately shrunk back and obediently stepped back. Fear was clear in her eyes. Normally, Charlotte might look gentle, but she knew, once an angry woman like her got angry, she would be terri

He smiled brightly and waved his hand. “Between you and me, there’s no need for such formal gratitude. To me, this is just a small matter.” Rebecca, standing next to Charlotte, also praised Anthony wholeheartedly, using flowery language to elevate him. Anthony momentarily felt a surge of satisfaction. He chuckled falsely, pretending that he could easily solve any problem. However, in his heart, he pondered a few other issues deeply. Just now, he called his old man just to test his luck, to score a few more points in the eyes of the beautiful woman. He didn’t think his family’s

Joseph smirked faintly: “Have you heard what his father said? They believed just after a couple of sentences, even a hunting dog wouldn’t be so obedient. Anthony, doesn’t your phone have an automatic call recording? Opening that recording for everyone to hear isn’t too much to ask, is it?” “Why should I do that?” Anthony twitched, his tone instantly becoming harsh. At this moment, the person who had been silent suddenly spoke up, cutting off the conversation altogether. “Enough! Joseph, stop being stubborn.” Charlotte spoke up sharply, glaring at Joseph. Her emotions were currently in turmoil, half wanting to make things difficult for him because of the woman who accompanied him today, half wanting to forgive him because of her own feelings. Finally, Charlotte questioned: “Don’t act childish anymore. We’re divorced, and don’t frame Anthony out of jealousy!” Is jealousy? These two words made Joseph laugh. He couldn’t believe Charlotte would label him with jealousy, especially wh

"What are you talking about, Joseph? Why would you ask me that? Do you think I don't care about Charlotte?" The anger in Coco's voice made Joseph realize he had touched on something sensitive. But what was she angry about? Because he suspected her, or because she really had something to hide? "I meant no harm, Coco," Joseph replied, trying to calm the situation. "I just want to make sure everything is okay... between us and with Charlotte." But he knew his words wouldn't soothe her anger. Coco stood up abruptly, her eyes full of frustration and rage. Joseph stood amidst the lively atmosphere of the party, but his mind felt lost in a maze of confusion. He tried to piece together the fragments of the events, but the more he thought about it, the more complicated everything became. If Jayce wasn’t the one who killed Charlotte, and he wasn’t behind Mrs. Smith’s death either, then Jayce must be panicking. Two key pawns Jayce had planned to use to threaten him had mysteriously vanished. So, who was behind all of this?Joseph couldn’t stop asking himself questions. “Is there someone silently helping me, or do they have a bigger agenda?” The appearance of a third force in this game could completely change the outcome. This made him uneasy. If someone was helping him, why would they choose such a method? And if they had ulterior motives, was he becoming a pawn in their hands?Looking over at Jayce, Joseph noticed that although Jayce outwardly appeared calm, he was likely in turmoil inside. Blood had spread across the floor, soaking into her pristine white dress, creating a tragic scene. He knelt closer, his eyes carefully observing the color of her skin and the livor mortis that had already begun to appear. With his forensic knowledge, Joseph noticed that Charlotte's skin had turned a pale gray, with blood pooling beneath the skin, forming dark purple blotches in areas where the blood had settled.
