Lucas sat in Aslaug's home as he was being watched by Aslaug and Kriemhild as they looked at each other, not knowing what to make of the situation in front of them as he had a troubled look on his face.
"So, why are you here?" Aslaug asked him as she was curious. "A spell that I had used to warn me about danger activated and I don't know what the danger is." Lucas said to them as he looked at the two women. "Wait, what kind of spell is that?" Kriemhild asked in surprise at hearing that. "That is a spell that I had discovered in the past, but for it to be activated means that it is going to be very dangerous. Not to mention, the chance of me dying is also high." Lucas said causing the two to look at him in surprise. "Truly?" Kriemhild asked in surprise, an emotion which was also mirrored by Aslaug. "Yes, this particular spell I used will warn me about great dangers and when I am going to be in a situation where I could lose my life." Lucas said to them as he reclined on his chair. "Does that spell have some sway on Fate? The Norns?" Aslaug asked him carefully as she knew about those deities. "The Goddesses of Fate?" Kriemhild said in surprise when she heard that as she looked at Lucas in shock and surprise. "I do not know how this spell works as there isn't much information regarding its origins, but it is an effective one. Not to mention, I am unable to look at Sweden with my magic due to someone blocking me." Lucas said to them as he frowned. "But, isn't your magic unique? I wasn't aware that someone else would be able to block your view." Kriemhild said in surprise at hearing that piece of information. "Yes well, I do not know everything, perhaps there was someone in the kingdom who knew magic, or someone new had come to the kingdom after its defeat, perhaps to gain profits from the situation." Lucas said to them as he thought about it. "Profits?" Aslaug asked as she blinked in confusion at his words. 'Right. She doesn't have much knowledge on normal human society.' Lucas thought to himself as he looked at her. "The kingdom of Sweden had lost a war against Norway, their archenemy so to speak. On top of the humiliation of being defeated, the fact that two of their dragons died was a blow to their military might, which could cause the other kingdoms to think that they are weak since I defeated their dragons alone." Lucas said to them with narrowed eyes. "You humans always make things more complicated." Aslaug said to him as she crossed her arms with a sigh. "I would disagree but I have to concur on that." Lucas said with a nod as he knew that humans had the habit of complicating simple situations. 'And considering how prince Eric had acted, it's safe to presume that whatever mage had decided to make their appearance in the kingdom has most likely met with him. Since they are knowledgeable and strong enough to actually block my magic, I fear that they might be even greater mage than I am.' Lucas thought to himself as he grew nervous at the thought. It was a precarious situation for him. He didn't know what was happening in the other country, and he surely couldn't just walk into the other country, even if he did manage to deceive the ordinary people, who's to say that the mage won't notice him and try to use that opportunity to eliminate him. He is currently unable to look at the other country despite countless tries, and he doesn't know if that mage is also watching him, but he did create a barrier across the entire area surrounding the royal castle and its territories which includes his own family territory as well. The few advantages he has is that the truth about Aslaug being a demi goddess hasn't been revealed to another save Kriemhild, and he is thankful that Aslaug is listening to his words and not going around shouting her heritage. It would be a headache and a half to try to deal with it, moreover if the royal family were to get involved which would needlessly complicate things for him. "What about the court mage? Could he do something?" Aslaug asked him as she looked at him. "Well, he only came to know about a few of the spells of space magic after I gave the information to him. So I don't think he will be able to take care of the barrier surrounding the kingdom, though I don't think he has any reason to actually spy on the kingdom." Lucas said to them as he scratched his head in worry. "Looks like you don't have any solutions for this situation, do you?" Aslaug asked him as she crossed her arms. "With my magical knowledge. No, I don't have enough to know who is doing that, or what they're planning to do? They are certainly powerful without a doubt and they might have knowledge that would dwarf even mine if I'm being honest." Lucas said as he shook his head at the situation. 'I also have to put some of my operations on hold until I solve this issue. I need every single card I can play in my hands and under my sight.' Lucas thought to himself as he looked at Aslaug. "What?" Aslaug asked as she saw him looking at her. "I was just thinking that you are one of the only advantages I have when the situation arrives." Lucas said to her calmly. "You really have quite the nerve to talk to me like that." Aslaug said as she frowned at his words. "You already know that. Besides, aside from the two of us, no one actually knows that you are a demigoddess, which is something that I want to keep secret for as long as I can." Lucas said to her seriously. "Because I am one of the things that the enemy shouldn't know?" Aslaug asked with a raised eyebrow at him. "Yes. I do not know what kind of plan they are hatching, but keeping your secret is of great importance. As long as they think that they are dealing with humans, we can perhaps surprise them with you." Lucas said to her seriously. "Well I suppose that is true. Few know how to deal with a demigoddess and far less had actually met with one after all. They aren't called myths for nothing." Kriemhild said to him with a nod as she understood the meaning of his thoughts. "Even if this mysterious enemy doesn't know about me, do you think they won't be able to beat me. As much as I loathe to admit it, you defeated me after all. And if this person has far more knowledge and power than you have, then what is the chance that I would be able to defeat them?" Aslaug asked him as she looked at him with a frown. "Of course, I had also taken into account that fact as well. I have some other things that I can use as well. But for the time being, I'm not going to reveal them." Lucas said to them as he looked at them. "Well, I do hope that whatever you have will be of use." Kriemhild said to him when she heard that. "Tch. If you want my help then you will need to tell me what your plan is. I know that you have a plan in mind or are in the process of one, aren't you?" Aslaug said to him with a frown. "Yes, but I do not know if this plan will be enough, there are too many things I do not know which is making it difficult for me to form a plan of action." Lucas said to them as he sighed to himself and rubbed his head. 'I have also sent Alpha and the other boys to do some recon near the borders and to be careful about it and explicitly told them to not cross the border. I just hope that none of them feel adventurous, especially the younger one.' Lucas thought to himself as he thought about his subordinates. He just hopes that he would be able to gain some information regarding the other country by looking at the place physically. Whether it would work or not is not going to be the issue since he does need to have a visual about the border, he doesn't know if using his magic will help, as he doesn't know if the mage had used magic to interfere with his vision as well. 'And I had only just dealt with a war as well. I need to prepare more since this isn't just a normal mage as well, but someone strong enough to actually block my magical vision.' Lucas thought to himself as he shivered a bit as he thought about the fact that perhaps he is being watched by the mage as well. "Well, I do have the workings of a plan. Are you two interested in hearing it?" Lucas asked the two women as he looked at them. "Of course, if it is a danger to you, then it might be a danger to me as well." Aslaug said to him as she crossed her arms. "It would be beneficial." Kriemhild said to him with a nod as well. "Alright then, then please make sure to keep your attention here." Lucas said to them as he cleared his throat and got ready to talk.Alpha watched the border of the two kingdoms with the rest of his group. After Lucas had given them the order to observe the border and make sure that none of the enemy soldiers or anything else would cross into the kingdom. All of them had split up to make sure that they had covered all the area. For the time being, he hasn't seen any unusual activity from the other kingdom which put his mind at ease for the moment as it meant that the danger that his master has thought of hasn't happened yet. He trusts his master and knows that if he has said that a danger is coming, then it will be coming. But for the master to not know what the danger is means that the problem is something that might be hazardous to them all. He is sure that they are very powerful, but he also doesn't want to be too arrogant about it as he knows that it might lead to his death. It was one of the first things that was taught by their master to them when he was teaching them about fighting. Thinking that th
In the land of Norway, in the territory of the noble house of Larsen, the sound of clashing weapons can be heard. The sound was coming from the training ground a few metres behind the mansion of the noble family. A boy who is 17 years old was currently having a duel with a man who seemed to be at least 40.The boy has jet black hair and grey eye's. A fair complexion and a slim build. He also has a handsome face. He only wore a white shirt and black pants as he was sparing with the man. He had a sword in his hand as he was fighting with him. He was covered in sweat and dirt was also on his body and clothes as well. The man he was fighting had brown hair which was starting to grey at some points. He has auburn eyes and a moustache as well. A fair complexion and a body which is in the middle of slim and buff. He wore all black as he was also sweating from the spar he was having with the young man. He also had a sword in his hand as he was fighting with the boy. They then locked blades w
'It has been what, 12 no 13 years since I awoke in thei world in the body of Lucas. And I was about to graduate out of college as well. I was very confused when I awoke in this body but thankfully since I had already matured by that time I was able to adapt quickly. I quickly learned that I was in the 6th century in the country of Norway. I also came to know that I am the son of a duke and holds significant power in the kingdom. But that didn't mitigate the fact that I had now lost my previous life, all that hard-work I put in gone.' Lucas thought to himself as he sighed at the last part.He then went to the shelf with books and took one and traced along its spine.'I also learned that humans weren't the only race in this world and that magic also exists. But magic has now rarely been used by the people in this land and even though they believe in the Norse God's, they consider it a hassle since it takes a lot of time to learn magic. The machinations, the words, the letters, all of wh
"I would say the same but unfortunately I don't know your name but it's nice to meet to meet you too." Lucas said as he bowed as well.He saw the finger of the boy twitching when he said he didn't know him. He also saw the boy had a irritated face when he heard him."Oh, then let me introduce myself. I am Oskar Rehbindr, the heir to the house of Rehbindr which holds the rank of duke like yours." The now introduced Oskar said to him."Good to know." Lucas nonchalantly said as he took a sip of his wine.Oskar grit his teeth in response to his nonchalant answer.'Why the hell is he talking so nonchalantly?! My house is the same rank as him and he acts like I'm some normal person! I'm the heir to the noble house of Rehbindr! Is he looking down on me!?' Oskar thought to himself with growing anger.Oskar looked at Lucas who was calmly observing his surroundings while eating a few grapes. While this would've caused other people to leave him, for someone like Oskar it was as if he was disresp
The man in front of him is Alvis Johansen, a merchant who has trade connections in both the countries of Norway and Sweden. Lucas had a chance encounter with the man as said merchant was going through the forest for securing a deal. Unfortunately for the merchant he was ambushed by bandits but fortunately for Lucas he was in the area going through his training when it happened. He saved the man and defeated the bandits and the merchant in response was quite pleased with him. After that the two of them would see each other from time to time as the merchant had taken quite a liking to Lucas due to him saving his life and him being much different than the other nobles. While Alvis was a good businessman he isn't treated that greatly by the other nobles due to him not being from a noble family in the country. Due to this he had taken quite a liking to Lucas due to him treating him like any other person. He liked him even more when he saw Lucas' potential in the business department.Lucas
Lucas then read the letter again carefully before he burned both the envelope and letter with magical fire to ensure no one knows about it. He then sat on his couch as he thought about all the information he had gotten. Though it wasn't much he was someone who believed that knowledge is power and is needed if one needs victory.'If what I know about both kingdom's is true then it will not be much time before they go to war with eachother. There's going to be many casualties in the war and maybe some of the members of the noble families might perish at the war. If that happens then I might be able to use that chance to increase the strength of my own clan.' Lucas thought to himself. Then he thought about the tension between the two kingdoms about the piece of land which both are debating for. That particular information stuck in his mind.'Wait, if both the kingdoms are focusing on that particular land then doesn't that mean the other territories aren't under that tight supervision. If
Both heirs looked at eachother. Lucas with a neutral look while Oskar had an arrogant grin. Their armors were quite different as well. Oskar was wearing armour that showed his noble heritage and made him look good. Lucas meanwhile had worn plain armor over chainmail. Lucas had a longsword while Oskar had on his hip a decorated longsword. The nobles started to mutter amongst themselves when they saw the way the two heirs dressed. Many complimented Oskar for his great looking armor which showed his noble blood. But the nobles were staring and muttering disapprovingly at Lucas's choice of armor as it was very plain and made him look like any normal soldier."Why is he wearing armour like that?" "He should wear something more fitting of his status.""He looks more like a commoner than a noble." Those were the kind of chatter that was going around the nobles. As for the royal family, they were mostly curious about Lucas's choice of armor as nobles usually wore more extravagant armor. Osk
Both fighters drew their blades and got into stances. Though it was easy to know that the stance used by Lucas was much more stable and better than the one used by Oscar by those who were well versed in the art of combat like Lucas's teacher Gustav and the princess Olivia.'His stance is actually good.' Olivia thought to herself.Lucas narrowed his eyes as he looked at the sword which was covered in an aura indicating that it was enchanted as well. Oskar then went with an overhead slash at Lucas which had it's speed increased by his armor. But for Lucas who had trained consistently with his master the attack wasn't that impressive.Lucas merely sidestepped as the sword went harmless down his left side. Oskar was surprised while Lucas was looking at him with the same impassive face. Oskar was a bit ticked off at the lack of reaction from the heir to his attack as he went for a horizontal slash which Lucas blocked with his sword and used his hand guard to stop it as he had the same impa
