Chapter 4: Ultimate Skill

[Answer: The condition is to unlock the ultimate skill. Then you will automatically get passive skills and upgrades from dimensional gate skills]

"Ultimate skill? How can I unlock it?" asked Raff.

[Answer: Make another sacrifice as a form of agreement between the system and its owner]

"What kind of deal?" asked Raff.

[Answer: There are five agreements that can be selected one of them to unlock the ultimate skill]

[#1 : Become a slave and be tortured in the fantasy world for fifty years. The ultimate skill will be unlocked after completing it. If you fail, the punishment is death and torture forever]

[#2 : Become a slave and be tortured in the real world for forty years. The ultimate skill will be unlocked upon completion. Failure to do so will result in death and eternal torment]

[#3 : Sacrifice your life until you have one minute left. The ultimate skill will unlock immediately after the deal is made]

[#4 : Become a Demon King but lose your dreams, consciousness, memories and won't know anything about yourself. The ultimate skill will be unlocked directly after the deal is made].

[#5 : Do not have sex with anyone until completing all quests given by the system. The ultimate skill will be unlocked directly after the deal is made. Failure to do so will result in death and eternal torment]

"Eh? No way! The five of them are so unreasonable. Is there no other way to unlock it?" asked Raff. He was surprised that all the choices were so hard to do. If he could, he wouldn't want to choose all of them.

[Answer: None. They were all worth the price of the power they would give]

"Tch! Are all systems like this?" grumbled Raff.

[Answer: Yes]

"Hmm... I see. Again the trade-off is worth it. There is no pleasure without struggle, no happiness without sacrifice. As humans, we just need to choose which one is really worth it. I can't possibly sacrifice the thing that is most precious to myself," Raff muttered as he continued to think.

"Alright I've decided. I will make a deal and choose one of the five options given," Raff replied calmly.

Raff then made an agreement with the system and mentioned his choice from the five options given. Raff's body suddenly felt calm and light.

"I understand. It turns out that it really suits me," Raff muttered with a smile. His right hand threw ten silver coins into the air then he caught them again quickly.

Raff walked back away from the Norn City garbage dump. His goal this time was to find an inn to rest. The cost required to rent a room at the inn for the night was five silver coins. If you add breakfast then you have to spend another three silver coins.

"An inn with a room this bad turns out to be quite expensive," Raff muttered after being in his room. He chose to pay for the overnight stay only to save his money.

"But it's better than having to sleep under the bridge," Raff said as he laid his body down on the hard bed.

That night Raff struggled to sleep. His brain kept thinking of things that might come up. He couldn't wait to avenge the insults he had received in the real world.

"I must not waste the sacrifices I made for this power," Raff thought before falling asleep.

In the morning Raff had left for the guild to take the mission. The city of Norn felt very lively this morning. many people passed by to start their activities. There were many adventurers who were seen heading to the guild that morning.

"They said someone attacked Jeal's party last night," said an adventurer.

"I heard that too. They're still recovering," said another adventurer. Almost all the adventurers heading to the guild were talking about Jeal and his friends.

"They don't seem to be telling me that I did it. They must be embarrassed to tell me the truth," Raff thought. He was sure people like Jeal and his friends couldn't possibly say they lost a fight against a new adventurer.

Raff arrived at the guild, then took a look at the missions posted on the mission board. All the missions there were classified into seven difficulty levels. The higher the mission level, the greater the reward. The lowest level was F with the smallest reward of 5 silver coins. While the highest level was S with a reward of 100 gold coins.

"For starters," Raff muttered as he took the level E mission. He had to eliminate the goblins that were roaming near the forest east of Norn City.

"Good morning, sir," greeted Reona as Raff was about to verify the mission he had taken.

"Good morning. I want to take this mission," Raff said as he handed over the mission sheet.

"Okay. I'll keep the paper. I suggest you form a party to make it easier to carry out the mission," said Reona. She then asked Raff's adventurer card to write his name on the mission paper Raff took.

"Thank you. I will consider it," Raff replied while accepting his adventurer card again.

"Still level 1?" thought Raff when he saw that his adventurer card still showed he was level 1. Even though he is currently level 3.

"Sorry. But is the card broken?" asked Raff.

"What's wrong, sir?" replied Reona.

"I'm already level 3, but why is the data on the card still level 1?" asked Raff.

"Sir, there is nothing. the level there will show your own level. It's impossible for you to be level 3 if you're still level 1," replied Reona with a smile.

"I see," muttered Raff confused.

[Answer: Probably because the level increase was so fast that the card couldn't keep up]

"From earlier, I don't need to ask then," Raff grumbled in his heart.

[Answer: Need to do a long scan to find out the mechanism of a magic item working]

"Yes, I understand," Raff thought to himself.

"Oh yes. If one gold coin here is how many silver coins is it?" asked Raff.

"Eh? Is Mr. Raff not from the Kingdom of Xandria?" Reona replied.

"No, I'm not. I come from a distant kingdom," Raff replied.

"Oh. 1 gold coin in the Kingdom of Xandria is worth 100 silver coins," Reona explained.

"Thank you very much," said Raff while nodding his head.

Suddenly the adventurers who had gathered near the mission board immediately set their sights on the guild entrance. The atmosphere suddenly became crowded when ten adventurers with good armor entered the guild room.

"They've come," said some adventurers.

"I heard it only took a month for them to complete the S-level mission," whispered another adventurer.

"Who are they?" asked Raff.

"They are ten of Norn City's best adventurers. Elite Ten," replied Reona.

"Oh. If it's in online comics then they're probably the main characters," Raff thought.

"Get out of our way!" grumbled the spear-wielding woman as she pointed her weapon at the adventurers standing in front of the staff table. She was the deputy leader of the Elite Ten named Wean. Raff dodged to the side. He had no other questions at the moment anyway.

"Long time no see, Reona. Just seeing your face makes my fatigue disappear," said a man with a sword at his waist. He was the leader of the Elite Ten named Raven. He immediately grasped Reona's hand and kissed it.

"Welcome back Mr. Raven, Miss Wean and the others. We're glad you all returned safely," Reona said as she released Raven's grip.

"Maybe I should go on a mission soon," Raff thought. But a knife was suddenly in Raff's face.

"Bring us water!" ordered one of the Elite Ten members named Dam.

"Water?" asked Raff.

"Yes, water! Don't you know water?" said Dam while glaring at Raff.

"Looks like I was wrong. They don't deserve to be the main characters. Maybe they're better suited as antagonists," Raff thought.
