Chapter 5: Elite Ten's Threat

"Why are you keeping quiet huh!" snapped another man named Dim.

"Let's not make a scene. We just came. Right Reona?" said Raven as he put his right hand on Raff's right shoulder.

"You don't want to embarrass us! In this town everyone respects us so much!" whispered Raven in Raff's ear.

"I just came to this town so I don't know anything," Raff replied.

"You'd better get out of here if you still want to survive!" whispered Raven.

"Instead of you staying silent maybe you can find something for us out there," Raven said again loudly while pushing Raff's shoulder.

Raff immediately left the guild without saying anything. He didn't care what Raven said to him. So far he had often experienced the same thing when bullied in the real world.

"That's it. Buy us some good food!" Dam shouted.

"Next time don't make us wait!" said Dim.

"Tch. Again I have to meet a group of annoying people," Raff grumbled.

"But they must have a high level. I can't be rash if I want to teach them a lesson. Information is very important when having problems with other people," Raff thought.

Raff immediately went to the edge of the forest east of Norn City. He was initially confused about whether to invite other adventurers to form a party with him. But Raff intended to find out how likely it was that he could carry out his mission alone. If he could handle it alone then he wouldn't form a party.

The roads got quieter as they got further away from Norn City. Raff passed through the fields and orchards in the countryside to get to the eastern forest. Norn City was indeed surrounded by forests and a hill. The situation in the village seemed quiet, there were only about fifty houses in one village. It was a far cry from the bustling Norn City.

"It would be nice if I had a minimap or a map of this kingdom," Raff muttered after reaching the end of the village.

The sound of birds began to sound busy. Raff began to step into the forest. The sunlight was unable to penetrate the dense leaves of the trees in the forest. No wonder so many monsters lived there. Raff used his fire magic to create a fireball above his right hand for additional light.

"Though my senses feel sharper when I get this power. But even in a forest like this I still need a torch," Raff muttered.

[Answer: Because you're not used to it. The more often you are in this kind of situation, the sharper your senses will become]

"Thank you. I feel like someone else is accompanying me now," Raff said after the system spoke in his mind.

"Is there any way to detect monsters in this kind of forest?" asked Raff.

[Answer: Unknown]

"Tch! So the system also has limited information. I thought I could use the scans that you often do. But it looks like I have to find out information from outside like that by myself," said Raff.

Suddenly Raff heard a noise in the bushes nearby. The fireball Raff was using immediately disappeared. The noise became clearer and clearer. All the bushes around Raff began to move.

"Oi. Don't tell me that there are large numbers of monsters approaching," Raff muttered anxiously. He immediately used his trap master skill to create several traps around him.

Soon a horde of goblins shot out of the bushes. The number was more than twenty goblins. They carried wood, stones and even swords to attack Raff. But the goblins screamed when they were hit by the fire magic trap that Raff prepared.

Some weak goblins even exploded immediately when they hit Raff's fire magic. The rest were burned to a crisp. The dozens of goblins were defeated in just a moment.

"A little scary. But it's not in vain that I drained the mana to make that many traps," Raff muttered while sighing deeply after seeing the goblins lying charred on the ground.

[Quest #3: Getting mission rewards from the guild]

"Eh? jumped straight to level 5?" muttered Raff.

[Answer: Because of getting additional Exp from defeating the goblins]

"I see, I understand," said Raff.

Raff immediately took the proof that he had defeated the goblins according to the mission from the guild. But the noise reappeared from around Raff. Seven goblins wearing armor darted swinging their swords towards Raff. This time Raff hadn't had time to use his skills to create a trap.

"Not done yet?" muttered Raff as he jumped to avoid the seven goblins' slashes.

Three goblins jumped towards Raff. But their bodies bounced off as their heads hit the fire magic trap Raff placed in the air. The other four goblins were already in four different cardinal directions and attacked simultaneously when Raff stepped on the ground.

Raff blocked two swords by kicking and hitting them from the side. While the other two swords Raff avoided by jumping to the side. The four goblins darted after Raff while swinging their swords alternately from different directions.

Raff felt that the movements of the four goblins were different from all the goblins he defeated earlier. Raff flowed fire magic into his hands, he also made a trap with water magic on the ground.

Two goblins fell because they slipped on the water magic trap that Raff made. The other two managed to advance and swung their swords aiming for Raff's neck. But nimbly Raff managed to avoid and was held back using his feet and hands.

A fireball shot from Raff's hand towards the two goblins in front of him. One goblin managed to dodge while the other was hit by the fireball until it caught fire. The two goblins who slipped jumped after Raff. One kick managed to make one goblin bounce while the other goblin managed to swing his sword.

Raff dodged the attack and retaliated with his right hand that was enveloped in flames. His punch managed to hit the armor on the goblin's body. The fire magic that flowed into Raff's hand instantly burned the goblin's body until it screamed.

Now there are two goblins left who look angry because their friends have been burned. Raff flicked his finger as if challenging the two goblins to attack. But the two goblins instead retreated slowly as if they wanted to run away.

Raff immediately used his skills to trap the two goblins. The two goblins quickly turned around to run away. But their heads hit Raff's fire magic trap until it caught fire. Two goblins screamed in pain before lying on the ground.

"The seven of them are more agile and stronger than the previous goblins," Raff muttered.

"They feel like a different race," Raff said as he gathered more evidence.
