Chapter 6: Reality in Two Worlds

[Answer: The higher the level of the defeated monsters, the more Exp will be obtained to level up]

"Can you find out how many levels other people or monsters are by scanning?" asked Raff.

[Answer: No. But you can estimate the opponent's level after defeating it. Later it will calculate the Exp obtained and estimate the enemy level from the calculation]

"It's very complicated. But that means I can't know other people's levels. The only way is to ask directly or look at the adventurer's card," Raff muttered. He took out his adventurer card. It turned out that his current level was still level 1.

"Can't I exchange it huh? If this continues then I will be underestimated like in the real world," Raff thought.

[Answer: It's useless to exchange it. If the item used is still the same, it will still be damaged]

"What a smartass you are," said Raff as he walked back to Norn City. This time Raff took a different route. He entered the countryside out of curiosity about the lives of ordinary citizens in the fantasy world.

Raff smelled the fragrant aroma of food from an eatery in the village. The aroma made his stomach make noise. A natural thing, because since yesterday he hasn't eaten anything. Raff decided to eat there while resting. It seemed that the atmosphere in the restaurant was quite, there were only four adventurers eating there.

"Welcome sir. Please have a seat," said a blue-haired girl with a smile.

"Thank you," Raff replied.

"What would you like to order, sir?" asked the girl.

"Mia! Bring me more grilled fish!" shouted an adventurer who was eating.

"Yes, wait!" said the blue-haired girl, whose name was Mia. She was the daughter of the shop owner.

"I want to order this fragrant food, I just came here for the first time so I don't know its name," Raff replied. Mia smiled at that.

"It's our specialty, spiny grilled fish," Mia replied.

"Alright. Please bring a portion for me," Raff said.

"Drink?" asked Mia.

"Just plain water," Raff replied.

Mia nodded and left. She quickly told Raff's order to her father in the kitchen. Meanwhile, her mother brought another customer's order. Soon Mia came back with a portion of grilled spiny fish for Raff along with a glass of water.

Raff immediately ate the food on his plate. The texture of the meat, aroma, spices and some other things are very different from those in the real world. But the taste is very delicious. If only that food existed in the real world, there would definitely be many fans.

"Maybe I also need to bring food from here to sell in the real world later. It could also be the other way around. But to do so requires careful preparation and a lot of capital," Raff thought.

"Maybe I need to recruit them later if my business plan works," Raff thought while looking at Mia who was cleaning the table nearby. Her mother was seen bringing water to the four adventurers who had finished their food.

The four adventurers who were there immediately stood up to leave after finishing the drinking water that Mia's mother brought. Raff was surprised that the four adventurers sounded like they didn't want to pay for their food.

"Food with bad taste like this is impossible for us to pay for!" snapped the adventurers when asked for payment by Mia's mother. Mia's father even came straight out of the kitchen when he heard the commotion.

"But sir. We live from this shop, if you do that then we'll go bankrupt," Mia's father said.

"What do we care!" snapped the adventurer as he pushed Mia's father's body to the ground.

"Why have I always met jerks since coming to this world? Is this world also as bad as the real world?" thought Raff as he stood up.

Raff walked over to approach the four adventurers. But his hand was grabbed by Mia. Raff looked back. Mia was seen shaking her head as a signal for Raff not to interfere.

"You don't have to worry. Despite my appearance, I am also an adventurer," Raff said.

"That's not the problem, sir. But ... if you make a scene here then we will still be affected later. We have experienced this very often. If you really feel sorry for us, you should not interfere," Mia explained while looking down.

Raff sighed deeply and sat back down to eat. Meanwhile, Mia's father was seen being kicked by two adventurers. Mia's mother tried to block even though in the end she fell because she was hit by the adventurer's kick. Raff could only clench his hands into fists. The turmoil of anger in his chest intensified because he couldn't stand to see two old people being beaten by burly adventurers.

"Next time you better not mess with us!" snapped the adventurer as he walked away.

"Bye Mia!" said one adventurer as he waved his hand to Mia as if he didn't feel guilty.

Mia immediately went to her mother and father after the adventurers left. They could be heard crying. Mia's father's face looked bruised and his clothes were getting dirty because of the sandals and shoes worn by the adventurers. Raff stood up and approached the three of them. He was still confused as to why Mia had forbidden him from interfering.

"Thank you, sir," Mia's father said.

"Thank you? For what?" asked Raff confused.

"Mia said that you are an adventurer. We thank you for not helping," Mia's father replied with a cough.

"Eh? I feel like I'm getting a headache," said Raff.

Mia's mother then told the story that every week there were always adventurers looking for trouble. The adventurer was always different every week. But they were sure it was all the work of the nobles who didn't like them.

They used to sell in Norn City. But the shop owned by someone close to the nobles felt rivaled by the success of their shop. With the help of the nobles in Norn City, Mia's family was finally expelled subtly from Norn City. The trick is that the tax money requested by the city government suddenly increases specifically for them on the grounds of the progress of the shop.

Then every day there were always adventurers who messed up and accused that their cooking was poisonous. The regular customers eventually dwindled because they were scared and affected by the accusations of the hired adventurers. They eventually returned to their village and chose to sell in their village.

But every week there are always adventurers looking for trouble. Seven months ago there was an adventuring party that helped them when they were harassed. But the troublesome adventurers came again the next day and attacked their shop. Mia's sister was taken away by them.

One week later Mia's sister was found dead naked in the river with wounds all over her body. Even so, they continued the shop because they had no other income because Mia's father was too old by now and had no other skills other than cooking. That's why they're grateful to Raff now for not helping. They didn't want Mia to suffer the same fate as her sister.

"I misunderstood. Apparently this world is just as bad as the real world," Raff thought after hearing Mia's family story.

"Why don't you try reporting to the kingdom? If it continues like this, they will take Mia even if there are no adventurers to help you," asked Raff.

"It's useless, sir. No one will believe poor people like us. The kingdom will definitely prefer nobles to defend," Mia's mother replied.

"Then why don't you just move?" asked Raff.

"It's useless, sir. There used to be a family of blacksmiths who had the same fate as us. They moved away from here. But they were still harassed by the noble's mercenary adventurers. One by one, their families were wiped out over a long period of time," Mia's father replied.

"I understand," Raff replied. Mia and her mother immediately took her father away to a resting place in the tavern. Soon Mia came back to Raff to thank him.

"You don't need to thank me. How much did the food cost?" asked Raff.

"Just one silver coin, sir," Mia replied.

"Eh? That's really cheap," Raff was surprised.

"All right. Here's your fee," Raff replied as he handed Mia two silver coins.

"Sorry, sir. But this is excess," Mia said as she handed over one silver coin.

"Take it. To cover your father's medical expenses," Raff said.

"No, sir. Your actions earlier have made us grateful," Mia refused.

"Then in return, answer one question from me. Consider it money in exchange for answering my question," said Raff.

"Question?" said Mia in confusion.

"Yes. If you had the power to defeat the four adventurers. What would you do?" asked Raff with a smile.

"Eh?" muttered Mia. She was pensive long enough to answer Raff's question.

"I would probably finish off the four of them by torturing them to death," Mia replied with a look of anger in her eyes.

"Interesting. Thank you for the answer. Just take the money in exchange for your answer," Raff said with a smile. He immediately left Mia's family's shop.

"I like people who aren't naive like her. Evil should be punished in a fitting way or worse so that it doesn't breed further. People like them don't deserve to live in any world," Raff muttered with a grin. He ran with all his might in the direction the four adventurers had gone.
