Chapter 5 Old rag out!

Warren stood up and dusted himself, he walked towards the door and yanked the door handle.

A voice cut across the room. "Where do you think you're going?"

Warren turned to look at the old woman standing by the lobby, the old woman screamed in great dismay. "You lay your filthy hand on my granddaughter, and you're leaving, take responsibility for your actions! Street beggars like you can't insult me and go for free."

Warren learnt life the hard way; he always had a soft spot for elderly women and respected the old a lot. He looked at Sawyer wallowing before she moved out of the living room in annoyance.

"No Grandma, I am not running away, I want to get fresh air besides I just got married, isn't that right Sawyer." Warren points his gaze at her.

Sawyer rolled her eyes hearing Warren say this. "You don't have what if takes to be my husband." Warren was sure the table turned against her, he wanted to use him and now that her grandfather found out about him there was nothing she could do again.

"Sawyer, you're a disgrace to the Lance family!" Her grandmother yelled after studying Warren, his flannel shirt was faded, the edges were tearing apart and his trousers could cause a dog to chase after him.

"See how miserable he looks, I can't believe my eyes." Grandmother Elaine expressed in disgust.

"Grandma, it's not what you think."

"Do you think they will listen to your explanation?" Warren let out in a deep masculine voice, with the picture in his hand. "Count yourself fortunate to be married to me."

Sawyer manoeuvres her step to Warren. "I have suitors, eligible suitors all over Cleveland sweeping at my feet, and I will root for you? Do I not have eyes to root for a loser like you. Fuck! Warren I'm the Marilyn Monroe of this whole Cleveland, you should be lucky to be married to me.

Warren chuckled, Sawyer looked really pretty, her chin was augmented, her orbs fierce but softness embodied them, her body trained and firm, and her skin glowed from afar like glass, Warren hadn't seen a woman of striking beauty before even if he did they wouldn't have approached him. But as rich as he is now he's not scared of anything.

"Sawyer, if you're what you claim, you must be priceless, that's why you're married to me."

Sawyer blushed, such flattery coming out of the stranger's mouth, she blushed brushing her hair to one side.

"Sawyer, this is the trash you married! I knew you would end up with a good for nothing, the same way your father ran away from home." Her mother huffed and she stomped her feet to the ground ignoring Warren.

Warren with everything going on and with the whole commotion and his in-law finding it hard to settle the dust swirling around them excused himself.

Warren looks to the corner of his house and finds a man dressed in a black suit waiting for him.

"Young master, Harlan wants to see you. I will be your escort."

Warren squints his eyes, he's tired from the beating and the long exploit on the ground and Harlan wants to see him with his bodyguard, He insists he keeps a low profile, he hasn't forgotten that.

He stepped closer. "Tell him, I will come by myself, I need to take a nap first."

Warren stepped inside his small apartment unbuckled his shoe, stretched his leg and snapped his neck. After taking his medicine he fell into his bed.

Hours later he wakes up, walks his way into the toilet and stands in front of his half-broken mirror on the wall.

Warren pulled the lid off the top of one of the shoeboxes when his cell phone rang.

He reached across the couch and grabbed it. When he sees that it is his wife, he presses his face into the couch and fake-cried into a throw pillow.

He brought the phone to his ear. "Hello?"

There are three seconds of silence, and then—"Hello Warren."

He sighed and sat back up on the couch. "Hey, wifey,"

Warren is really surprised she’s speaking to him. It’s only been one day since they got married unexpectedly. That is 365 days sooner than he expected to hear from her.

"What is it?"

Sawyer sighs dramatically. "Grandfather wants to see you. When you confront him, tell him you don't want to have anything to do with me. This is all bullshit. You should be embarrassed about what happened."

He paused, he wasn't in the slightest bit.

"Come to the house for dinner," she ends the call without hearing approval from him.

Warren throws the phone on the couch. Sawyer thinks lowly of him, the richest man in Cleveland.

They will be more meticulous talking to him if they know what he's capable of and how much he's worth in his account.

Warren slid into his t-shirt and trousers, combed his air backwards and accessed himself in the mirror. He tossed the card into his pocket heading out to meet Harlan and then to the Lance family mansion, he would be killing two birds with one stone. He jerked to his feet and across the road to the trafficator that turned red. When it turned green he darted across the zebra crossing line and got to the other side waiting for a cab.

He stopped in front of a skyscraper, while working in the resort and running errands for his manager, he saw different sorts of exotic cars parked outside.

The wealthy must have an outstanding taste, now he's swimming in that same pure luxury, he tipped the cab man and walked inside the lounge.

The first few people he saw cut a dagger through his heart.

Kaylani stood with her arm wrapped around Floyd Galen's hand.

"Warren, I came to the Resort looking for you. The manager said, "You quit."

Warren ignored her waiting for the receptionist to finish with the clients, he didn't want to use his connection even though he uses it, he didn't want to be obvious.

Floyd tugged his shoulder. "What is a loser like you doing here Warren? Looking for a job? Hahaha, this is not Baritone and this place is for people from a core background, what can you do huh? Losers like you should be on the street."

Kaylani chuckled, her child-like expression bursting into a mockery.

Warren clenched his fist by his side. "Kaylani, is money all that is more important to you? Can't you see Floyd is using you?"

"Let him use me, you did the same and I got nothing, it's better to know what a man can offer."

Warren wished she could change but he's sure she's blind as a fish, "loser! Where is the security, kick this old rag out of here before I terminate my partnership with the Welsh group,"

"This is not your father's house or your company."

"What? Must I explain everything to you? I own part of the company as an investor. I doubt a fool like you has no idea what that means."

Part of the company? When did he own the damn company?

Warren stared at Floyd's proud enigma, he neglected him.

Floyd smiled equally saddened and confused by this man, the way he looked at him. He cuts his eyes off him. " I should have removed your nose that night." Warren bit back at him.

He orders the security but an eloquent man dressed in a black coat steps in. "I have been waiting for you Warren, you came at the right time?"

Floyd and Kaylani exchanged a surprised look, this is the man that won't step out of his office to welcome anyone, just who the fuck is Warren a pauper that has no background.

Floyd uttered, Harlan fist his hand by his side, he heard everything, the way they belittled Warren.

'He's Warren Donald, the most powerful man in the whole of Cleveland, BASTARD.'

Harlan is a powerful man, Floyd fears and predicts him a lot, his family income depends on their relationship with the Welsh group. "Mr Harlan, we have been waiting for you, why haven't you come out since?"

"I can recall having no current deal with you. I have nothing outside business with you."

Floyd grinds his teeth together, he doesn't want to offend the main investor. He kept quiet, choking his pride.

"Who is this street beggar to you, Mr Harlan."

"He is someone I know, he brought orders for me," Harlan said coldly to avoid suspicion.

This gives Floyd a soothing feeling, why was his heart beating? Frantically. Warren can not be anything tangible in society so far as he knows.

Kaylani chuckled. "When will you ever upgrade Warren, I made the right choice leaving you."

Harlan turns to Warren in the elevator. "Young master, I was angry with myself at their mannerless talk, what do you want me to do with them? Your word is law."

"Teach them a lesson, let them know the price of talking down to me. Tell them Lord Welsh the owner of the company has ascended his rights."

"Yes young master," Harlan quickly makes arrangements before coming to his office to meet Warren, he bows down. "There is someone you must meet, Young Master, he worked really hard to keep the Welsh group together."

He wondered who he was meeting that had worked hard for the Welsh group.
